  1.

It was at one Collectormania that a friend sensed body odour, yet I did not.

I've not had any problems as I usually only go for one day.

Since I'll be going to all three days, it probably wouldn't hurt for me to bring a can of deodorant just in case.

Is that meant to be serious or ironic?

If you're going on what is a least a 3-day trip, surely there would be a trip to the shower at least once given the long hot days at conventions? So yeah, I'd say it "probably wouldn't hurt" to bring deodorant. I'd say more of a no-brainer actually.

Especially as such events tend to be very hot and sweaty.

I'll come from the Czech Republic. And I don't fly, so bus it is :D

Thats impressive, how long will it take you?

About 18 hours or so. It's horrible :D A flight would have taken me only 2 hours (plus transport from Luton, Gatwick or Heathrow). But yeah. DonT like flying. And I hate the bus journey as well, but. Irrational fears win.

I travel to London a couple of times a year so I'm used to it though.

Wow I admire your stamina and determination!

I'm coming from Greece, so 3 hours by plane.

  3. I'm going on my own (scary) and I will do cosplay for the first time in my life (terrifying). I won't be fully accurate as I can't get it all in on the flight (from Sweden) but I plan on dressing like Rey from Star Wars. Or at least, attempting to, it might fail spectacularly as I've pretty much bought every single item of clothing (don't know how to sew). But it'll be fun anyway. That'll just be one day though, the other days I might wear a dress or a nerdy couple of t-shirts (depending on weather).

Rey sounds very cool! Regarding weather just make sure you wear something cool inside as it can get very hot. If the weather is cold just have something extra like a jacket or jumper to wear while outside.

  4. Ive always wanted to dress up but never plucked up the courage to do it. I usually wear WWE or star wars t shirts.

Does anyone dress up or cosplay on their own? Just curious as i have an outfit in mind but not sure if i can dress up solo :(

I also cosplay on my own. It might feel a bit weird when you're on the tube on your own, but as you get nearer to the venue more cosplayers will get on and it will be less weird. I say go for it!

  5. I'm going alone because my friends aren't really into this side of things and my family can be summed up as 'Your going again, surely you've met them all now' Yes mother (I'm looking to you) I do like more than one thing and I've still got people to add! And 'You're going to Wales to see Benedict Cumberbatch, hur hur, you're stalking him' (my sister) to which I say 'And how many times have you been to see Muse eh? You even went to see them in Cornwall'

Apparently it's not the same thing though...... :pyth:

Yep, it's always rational when it's the thing they're into, but when it's the thing you're into it's irrational and you shouldn't be spending money on it.

Even if you'd really met everyone, though, it would still be fun to go to a con just for the whole atmosphere. I find it very enjoyable being around all the other fans and geeks, people cosplaying, lovely merchandise etc. I think the general con atmosphere is just as important as the star guests.

  6. I'm going alone, as I have done the other 2 times I attended, but I am meeting 2 friends who are going independently. So we will meet some time during the weekend. Going alone has the advantage of being able to do whatever you like, without having to plan around somebody else. The main drawback is that you don't have anyone to talk to during the queues, although some times you can chat with strangers waiting in line with you.
