  1. OK, so this year I'm getting 3 comics signed by the artists, and I'm facing a bit of a dilemma on where to get them signed. Should I ask the artist to sign the first page inside the cover, or find a nice big picture in the comic and get them to sign there? The best option would be to get the cover signed, however these are not the cover artists, just the comic artists, so it doesn't really make sense to have them sign the cover. Any suggestions?

  2. Hi

Heading to LFCC fri-sun with 3 friends, all first timers and looking to make some plans for post-con.

Is this quiz at the sceptre a go and are we OK to tag along? if so whats the deets, time etc?

(sorry if you've already explained it all but 20 pages of posts is a lot to search through! :D )

The meeting is 7pm Saturday, I think the quiz starts around 7.30. There was a post where you added your name to the list, just so there can be an estimate of numbers.

  3. I'm taking my laptop bag which has loads of compartments to it. I'll be taking

    Firefly Celebration book

    Those plastic picture holders

    Printed tickets

    Bottled Water

Bag of sweets and/or cereal bars

    A few Sharpies

    Saw III dvd

    Sons of Anarchy poster

And a few other bits to be signed. I've not decided what yet.

I'll be secretly relieved if Sean Maher cancels. Have you felt the weight of the Firefly book?

Don't jinx! Sean is one of the two actors I'll be totally gutted if he cancels! (The other is Dominic Monaghan)

  4.

Is there no air con in the building?

It allegedly exists but I didn't feel it at any point last year. The building being so ancient doesn't help either.

Last year the top floor was a real sanctuary for chilling out in so I am a bit concerned about it not being in use this year.

I think with so many people in the building, there is a limit to what air conditioning can do. And I think the top floor was cooler because there weren't that many people there.

  5. Tickets

    Camera

Peace of cardboard to keep autographs from bending

3 Comic books for comic guests to sign

1-2 bottles of water (usually just bring one and buy more at the con because I don't want to carry lots of stuff, but this year I may bring a bigger bag)

    possibly a sandwich

cereal bars for breakfast in the queue

tissues + wallet + mobile phone (these are standard)

  6. Most expensive thing was Angel Box Set for either 30 or 35 pounds (don't remember which). Most expensive autograph/photoshoot was Carrie Fisher, 65 pounds.

I can't imagine how some people manage to go without drink the whole day with all the heat in the venue; I think I would die of dehydration! I bring a water bottle with me but buy many more bottles at the venue as I run out; I don't want to have to carry lots of bottles with me. Although this year I'm thinking of bringing a bigger bag so I may pre-pack a sandwich/extra bottle.

  7. If a photoshoot clashes with a talk you can either try to go to both (just miss some of the talk) or go to the ticket booth and get a refund for one of them. I had a photoshoot clash with a talk the first year I attended and got a refund for the talk.

  8. The countdown to these events is great, but I find the aftermath a real problem - no money, nothing to look forward to, back to the boring day job...

I'm lucky in this as August is summer holidays month in Greece, so when I get back I won't have to wait long till my holidays which will involve lots of sleeping late and swimming in the sea. Also my cousins are coming over from England so it will be good seeing them.

  9.

    That's the badger... (or potato?)

OK confused, is it that one or have I made a mistake?

  10. A warning to people, many of those who "quickly" went back to their hotel rooms last year never actually made it to the meet up! My advise is to come straight from the con whether you're cosplaying or not and just power through!

That is my fear, too. However I think I will go to the hotel just to have a shower and change, as I expect to be hot in my Tauriel costume. Depends what time I leave the con. If I leave before 6 I may try for a short nap (will set an alarm!), if I leave at 6 I will just change and leave with no nap.
