We got as close to the stage as we could so when the disco started up it was fine, but even as close to the stage as we were, we could hardly hear Chase Masterson when she was singing. It would have been nice if there'd been some more seating and maybe organised to create a sort of dance floor area. Maybe it would have been better if something, maybe curtained like the main stage, but if something had made the space little smaller so it was more intimate. It would then have been able to be dressed up a bit better too, given it a bit more atmosphere. I'm glad I didn't bother trying the Romulan ale if it was just weak WKD. I bet it would have cost a small fortune too!

I'm glad other people feel the same as me. I agree about the sound/seating/different areas etc. For £25 I was expecting something pretty special but it just didn't happen. I'm just so grateful to the fans that got up and stared dancing as it did really seem to kick the party off. That thing that was in the right hand corner as you went in - what on earth was that? We saw people queuing but didn't see any sign or indications of what it was. After spending most of the day queueing we didn't really want to get into another one just to find out what was at the end. On the whole though we had a great time.

I had an amazing weekend and am so glad I went and would go again in a heart beat if it does every happen again, but I have to admit I was a bit dissapointed with the Saturday night party (can't comment on Friday night, I wasn't there). Firstly it was supposed to have been TNG themed, but it wasn't. I feel more of an effort could have been made to make the space look a bit more Star Trek themed and welcoming as a party space. The ticket wasn't cheap and it really fell short of expectations. I wasn't too sure about the 'entertainment' either. I got there around 830/845 so missed the early stages, but wow, the guy doing the stand up comedy, that seemed fairly innapropriate, sooo much bad language just for the sake of it, and I'm sorry but I draw the line at using elderly deaf men as a souce of humour. Some of his bits were funny but most were just cheap, sorry I thought children were also able to attend? I could be wrong but I didn't see anywhere that said it was 18 and above. However, the thing that turned the evening around for me was during Star Trekking when those other fans got up and 'took the stage' - that was brilliant, they were brilliant! Well done for them for effectively getting the party started for eveyone. There were a few mishaps and I'm sure some lessons have been learnt along the way (mostly involving queuing) but all in all I had a fantastic weekend and really do hope it happens again :) x

VIP Pass - Breakfast with the Captains....

Thought the breakfast was included in the (huge) price? -
Me and my mate had tickets for the Saturday, day and night. We had a bloody brilliant time but there were a few niggly things that could have been solved so easily. 1. We got there about 9:30 and were looking for the eveng in the Excel (knew it was big but had no idea it was the size of a resonably sized town!). There were no signs up at the entrance to say where abouts it was so we just kept walking. We saw two queues which seemed to be for the mains stage and at that time the doors to the main event were shuttered down so we assumed that since it was by now just after 9:30 that the entrance must have been somewhere else so we joined one of the queues. After 5 mins or so we were told that the queue was for gold ticket holders only and to go and queue at the other side, which we did, then after a further 10 mins or so we found out that this queue was for the Avery Brooks talk. We walked all the way back up and now the main shutters were open, but only just so as we were very early on in the queue. This could have been sign posted or whatever a bit more clearly rather than being told (by officials in the red tabbards) to go and stand in different queues only to later find out it was a queue for something we weren't even going to. 2. There seemed to be mass confusion when we got into the event regarding the photo shoots. I'd printed out the schedule from the internet on the Friday (as the ones I'd printed earlier on had changed). The new ones showed a photo class which wasn't there before so I went to see an official at the information desk to see what I could do about the clash. They looked in their programme which clearly showed the schedule I'd printed off a couple of weeks ago which had no clash. A quick check on the boards outside showed what I'd printed off the internet which did have the clash so I had to go back to the information desk and tell them that their programme was wrong, by which time several other people were there saying the same thing. All I was told was to get to one first and explain there and go to the front of the crew, but loads of people had the same problem as the clash was with Brent Spiner who was obviously very popular! As it goes the one was actually really quick and there was no issues getting to the other in plenty of time. 3. I'd read on here that there would be screens up at the photo shoots with ticket numbers up so we didn't have to stand around queueing for ages, but I only saw this once, with Brent Spiner, and then everybody was still standing around as it was just someone writing numbers on a board and at people level so unless you were stood right there you couldn't see the numbers anyway, so it didn't really work. You were still stood around waiting to go up, so basically you were in two queues rather than just the one. 4. I know this may have been a little difficult but it would have been great to have the schedule up earlier. I had 4 photo shoots booked and a talk and didn't want to book anymore in case of clashes. Had I seen the schedule earlier I would have booked at least another photo as I had a quiet morning with just 1 photo, and then everything else happened from 2pm onwards. I would have loved a pic with Andrew Robbinson but didn't want to risk it in case of a clash. 5. Stalls should have more easily accepted cards. I don't tend to carry around a lot of cash but always have my cards. I had a lot of stuff together to buy at one stall and then when I handed over my card was told they took cash only, but then pulled out a card machine from somewhere - which broke as soon as my payment went through. I think if I hadn't been spending so much money they wouldn't have done this, but come on, who walks around with £100s in their purses/wallets? It's 2012, EVERYWHERE accepts card payments... Other than those fairly easily solved issues I had a great time. I can understand people saying it was too cramped and there could have been more stalls etc but I loved it, the fans were brilliant, always had someone to talk to in queues etc. The stars I had pictuers with were all lovely and I pretty much did everything I wanted too - although it would have been nice to go to some of the free talks, but never mind. My feet are killing me and I'm sooo tired from hardly any sleep but if they did it again next year I'd be there, had an amazing weekend, thank you :)

So I won't have to go and get a VQ ticket on the day then, it'll be whatever the number is on the tickets that were sent out to me? I'm sure it'll become apparent on the day but right now it's pretty confusing and I want to make sure that I know what's going on before hand so I can plan things better.

Hi everyone. I've had all my tickets through, for photos etc, but they are numbered. Do these numbers mean something to me or are they just the number of the ticket for use by the organisers? If they mean something to me, what is it? Sorry if this sounds really stupid, and thanks for any replies

Anyone with a bit of local knowledge, please help...

That's great, been doing a little research and it doesn't seem that far so fingers crossed the taxi won't be crazy expensive. Thanks for all your help :) -

Ah thanks for your help and quick reply. Actually £35 between the two of us wouldn't be so terrible, was thinking it would be a lot more than that. Is the Custom House tube station very near the Excel? I know they aren't running that weekend but thinking it would be easier to book the taxi from there. Thanks again :) -
Hi everyone. Me and my friend are attending on the Saturday and also the party Saturday night. I'm trying to plan how to get back to our hotel (Greenwich Travelodge) after the party as it seems the tube trains stop running just before midnight, that means we'd have to leave the party pretty early to ensure we could get back using the trains. I was wondering if maybe we could get a taxi part way back and maybe walking the last 15/20 mins back to the hotel to save on costs - I imagine a taxi from Excel to Greenwich would be crazy expensive even with two of us. My query is, what is the area like say around South Quay and down to Greenwich? I've heard it's pretty rough around the Excel so don't want to spend too much time on foot there, but if the area is ok near the hotel I wouldn't mind walking the last part of the way. Thanks to anyone who can help :)

Does anyone know what taxi's are like around that area around 1230am - 1am? I've heard it can be a bit of a rough area and tubes and things probably won't be running around that time and have to get back to my hotel in Greenwich so was thinking it might be safer to get a taxi, at least part way back just to be on the safe side. Tickets came today, so pleased about that :)

Oh that's great :) Was worried about that. Thanks for you help and quick reply, will check out the food link now, that'll be very useful information :)

Hi everyone. Just saw the schedule for the Saturday and luckily doesn't look like there's going to be any clashes, but my last picture is one of the last of the day. My question is about arriving late to the party. I understand the party starts at 7pm? Well, I have to get back to my hotel in Greenwich to have a quick shower and get some fresh clothes on and then get back across to the Excel for the party. There's no way I'm going to be able to do that and be there by 7pm, so my query is will it be ok that I'll be getting to the party after it starts? One other question, about food. The plan originally was to leave around 4/5 to be able to get some food before going to the hotel, but there's just not going to be enough time to do that, not if I ever want to get to the party, so hoping to squeeze a meal in inbetween events of the day, so is there anywhere local to get some food, even just something basic like a pizza hut or something like that? Thanks everyone, can't believe it's only a week away. Hope the tickets get here in time as although only going on the Sat, will be travelling up on the Friday straight from work... Arggg...

I think you need to have a ticket to the event during the day too. Not totally 100% on that though.

It's my first too and I can't tell you how excited I am, by the whole trip to London and everything else too. My friend and I are going to the Saturday party and we won't be in costume, just some Star Trek t-shirts we bought for the occasion. Do you think it would be really cheeky to ask strangers in costume to have photo's done with them or do you think they would be flattered and happy to oblige. I don't really know what polite protocol is and would hate to upset anyway.
