  1. I see. Thanks you for the info. Let's hope he does at this event :)
  2. Hey guys, I managed to get an autograph way back in 2012 at the Destination Star Trek event. At this point, he was not personalising them. I query is, has anybody recently obtained his autograph, and got it personalised? I would love to have to personalised, so just wondered if he is doing. Cheers :)
  3. Absolutely brilliant... Been wanting to meet Robert for a million reasons. Mainly Elm Street and "V". So glad he is attending. Hey... how about getting Lisa Wilcox for Elm Street 4's 30th anniversary reunion along with other cast members. Wow... how good would that be
  4. Awesome guest announcement. Keep this up, and you'll be outdoing London!
  5. This is awesome... if you can get Clancy Brown and Roxanne Hart that would be great too... but of course, if needs be... 'there can be only one' from Highlander to attend
  6. Great event over the weekend was had. A few hickups here and there but. Got all autographs except Christopher Lloyds... I haven't got a clue what happened with his que on both sat and sun. Anyways what is the latest regarding the refunds on the Superman group cancellation?
  7. I would like to say a big thank you to Showmasters for putting on Destination: Star Trek London... another top event for the U.K. I and my wife, her first time ever to a Star Trek convention really enjoyed ourselves over the weekend. We both paid in advance for a 3-day weekend pass, which being at £50.00 was quite reasonable. In reflection, I am rather glad that we did not pay the enormous charge for the silver, gold, platinum and VIP passes, because from what we gathered at the convention, we had just as much fun and experience paying the price we did, than for what you would pay for the other premium passes. My wife did have to obtain her entrance ticket from the queue outside the event entrance, as her pass got lost in the post, but was not there for very long. We did not bother with guest talks or the opening ceremonies. The goody bag was OK, but could have been a lot better with a few more items from say some of the merchandise stores. I’m not saying anything expensive, but something more than stickers, leaflets and a beer mat. Again, paying the standard passes over the expensive ones, I don’t think we missed out on much in the goody bag score! Apparently, we were lucky to even get a goody bag, as they ran out of them. The whole event was very well planned out, especially the guest autograph and photos booths. This was due to choosing an excellent venue, which I thought was just right, instead of other venues I have attended that were either too small, or too shabby. The Excel was clean, plenty of ventilation, for once me and my wife were not roasting inside. Everything was professionally set out, utilising the space very well indeed for the queuing that was to be expected. At any event on this scale, you must expect to queue at least once or twice. I guess me and my wife were very fortunate, as the only major waiting we had was in the queues for wanting to purchase live talks, photo shoot tickets and autograph vouchers. We only required a few photo shoot tickets. There should have been a few more merchandise stores to shop at and browse around, and there was plenty of space available. The Klingon and Federation Zones was a good idea, but you could have done with more themed refreshments to choose from, I.E. nicknaming the drinks for Klingon coffee, a raktajino or having red wine simple renamed Klingon Blood Wine. Maybe an idea for next time is to have ‘Quark’s Bar’, and actually have the bartender dressed up as a Ferengi. The refreshment bars were good as they were, but a little more imagination put into the implementation of the drinks and food themselves would of been a nice touch. Maybe the problem is having organisers who are not familiar with Star Trek not actually plan out the themed environments for the event and let the Star Trek fans themselves do the planning and co-ordinate with the organisers. Surely there must be some Trekkies out there who have this influence. Just a thought! The guests in attendance were over and above being headed off by the 5 captains themselves. I managed to get a photo shoot and autograph from William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula, Brent Spiner and Michael Dorn... yes, a lot of money was spent on obtaining this lot, but well worth it. Let’s face it, when will you get the chance again like that? All the guests I saw were friendly, some more than others, but definitely Scott Bakula, Avery Brooks and Brent Spiner who liked my photo with him so much, that he wanted to keep it (joking of course), and I got to do a high five with him. Each of the guest asked how I was, and I returned the gesture. Very pleasant, and a great experience. The museum was a little exaggerated to be called that, as it was a small area for costumes, props and a model ship from Star Trek: Enterprise. The area was OK, but nothing really special. Seeing 7 of 9’s blue uniform was good, as I met her earlier in the year at London Comic-Con. There has been a lot of negative reviews about this convention from what I have read on this forum, and they probably have a good point to express their opinions, but at the end of the day, you try to make the convention your own, and most definitely plan your weekend out on what you want to do, and prioritise who you want to see and have photos with and obtain autographs from. You pay all that money out, so you need try and be cool about it, and to have a great time and experience in doing so. The last time I went to an official Star Trek convention was in 2000 in Glasgow and have done so since the early 1990s. I have been to quite a few and met some wonderful people, but believe me, they have changed in scope and size since then, and I will admit, it’s a money making enterprise now. Back in the day, you paid a fee for the whole weekend, usually around £50-£70, and this included unrestricted access to the event, entrance to all activities including opening ceremonies, parties at night time and other fun events, and also your actual meeting with any of the guest stars who attended and an autograph... all included in one fee. Times has changed now, as you practically pay for each of the above now. This does not bother me really, as it’s the first Star Trek convention I have attended in 12 years and I was not going to miss it, as I don’t think they’ll be one this size for a while, unless of course Showmasters think about doing an annual event, since going by the 17000+ attendance figure of this one, that might change! My wife certainly enjoyed herself, and she is not really a fan of Star Trek, but loved the experience of being there. Having her photo taken with Patrick Stewart was once of her highlights and seeing how much an impact Star Trek is in our cultural lifestyle, it was certainly an eye opener for her. I look forward to whatever Showmasters have lined up in the future, as am sure there is somebody right now planning more events like this one. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is 20 years old next year... hint hint! Our thanks to Showmasters, the organisers and crew members for their hard work, as it really showed from our point of view of all their hard work, and that they did think about the attendee’s needs, being friendly and helpful and made our experience really special. Live Long and Prosper everyone!
  8. Hi there people, OK, with this being my 2nd LFCC, and my first memorabilia event in 7 years due to the fact that I haven’t had the chance to attend in recent years, but have attended quite a few signings (Collectormania's and conventions), and sci-fi related events since the early 90s. Coming back to the amazing atmosphere of 1000s of people coming together, and sharing their interests, it was a welcome return. Also this time, I brought my wife with me on her very first sci-fi event, so the experience for her had to be special and memorable. We only had the one day, being Saturday to get everything done, what with photo shoots and autographs. Now to the actual day, over the years I think the events have been getting bigger, especially in guest attendances. I only specifically aimed to getting 3 photo shoots and 3 autographs, despite the fact there were quite a few more I really wanted, but with previous experience and limited time for us yesterday, I had to be realistic and prioritise who I really wanted to see and obtained my photo shoots and autographs. An excellent decision on being able to purchase pre-paid some photo shoots and autographs. Ever since I knew Jeri Ryan was going, these were bought months ago. Just a shame I could not purchase more photo shoots for other guests, as not all were available online. The only real bad thing with yesterday was actually getting to the event. We travelled from 4am yesterday from Blackpool. Getting to London was the simple part, but getting to the venue was another. Despite the fact I did research on how to get there and also made a travel plan using either the overhead or underground services. We found out (at London Euston), the overhead service was not in use (this was between 9am-10am at least), so we used the underground. There were notices at the Earls Court, but these conflicted with we were getting told by station staff, and that the service to the venue by underground/overhead trains were not in use, and thus we had to get the bus. Anybody else have any issues on this? Luckily, there was a few crowds with the same problem, so most of us stuck together and got the relevant bus, and got to the venue for about 9.30am. I checked the forum on here, and would have been good if the organisers had prior knowledge of this, if they had knowledge of this of course. Then we had to find out which queues to join. This could have been sign posted a little better, outside the entrance, and even on the High Street of knowing where to go. Even 1 person with a gold entry ticket came to me and asked where to go. If I was him, I would have not been happy after paying the extra for a gold ticket. After getting into the event, we could of done with sign posts to point to certain areas in the event immediately upon entering the hall. Even some of the stewards around the entrance area didn’t really have an idea of where certain guest’s photo booths were. I have a photo shoot with Jane Badler at 9.50, and I thought at I was not going to make it. Then there was the challenge of joining the massive queue to purchase the autographs tickets I hadn’t got already online. My wife bravely joined the extremely long queue for the 2 other photo shoots, whilst I got my 1st photo shoot done. We decided to buy 2 talk tickets for Jeri Ryan. My 2nd photo shoot was with Gates McFadden between 11.20-11.40am. I noticed the Jeri Ryan 1st photo shoot was between 10.35-11.35 for people who had 1-400 on their tickets. My ticket number was 408, and as soon as I had my Gates McFadden photo shoot, it was 11.30, and then shot over to Zone A, just to see if the queuing for Jeri Ryan’s photo shoot was still going on. I was extremely lucky, and praise to the steward on Jeri’s stand to let me get my photo shoot done, coming up to the closing of her 1st shoot. At this point things were going better than planned as I had all my photo shoots done by 11.45. Over to the Jeri Ryan talk we both went at 12.00. I kind of thought that to talk was extremely short, and only featured just a Q & A, as I thought she was going to talk about experiences and career, and as other people have pointed out, the sound quality of the P.A. used was not very good at all, and being a sound engineer for theatres, I would know this. Yes the ambience in hall would make it more difficult to hear, so maybe that was a venue mistake. I would say next time, have separate room areas, that are at least more shielded from other noises, but still, it was great just to finally see Jeri Ryan in her talk session. I thought the quality of the merchandise stands have dropped since I last attended a Showmasters event, and only mainly seem to deal with photographs. The amount of stalls was fine, but there were hardly any stalls dedicating to selling DVDs or blu-rays , as I normally come away with a few. The amount of stalls selling figures and models was good mind. I have noticed that some people experienced problems when retrieving their photos from the guest shoots. Being told that there was a wait of 2-3 hours from the shoot, I thought that this was reasonable. I managed to pick up Jane Badler’s photo just a little over 2 hours. Gates McFadden and Jeri Ryan’s photo pickups was around the 2 ¾ hours after the shoot. I would have to admit, this was a really good time frame considering the work that was involved in producing them, so praise really to the photo personal on the day for producing them to a great quality and time frame. Obtaining my autographs was again, rather effortless, as my waiting time at most for each was only 15 minutes at most. Gates McFadden’s sign did say 2.30pm for signing, but not arriving until 45 minutes after that time, but other than that, the queuing was great. Overall the day went really well, and the wife taking pictures at the event and walking around the stalls, and seeing the stars was enough to keep her happy, and she thoroughly enjoyed herself, and will be coming to more in the future with me. We have already booked out tickets for Star Trek: Destination London, which we plan for the whole weekend, and are looking forward to it. The key thing people need to realise that you have to be realistic in what you intend to do on the day you arrive, and prioritise what photo shoot and autographs you really want. If you intend to get a lot of photo shoots done and buy a lot of autographs, you will experience some difficulties in getting all of them done in such a short time frame, so you really need choose who is really important to you to have done, and maybe save other for a possible future attendance. I don’t know if I was extremely lucky with how my photo shoots and autographs turned out, but I managed to get all my photo shoots actually signed as well as obtaining another autograph from the 3 guests I intended to get done. Well done to Showmasters for putting on another great event, but I would address some other issues from attendees on the problems they experienced, because at the end of the day, we are the ones who are paying for it. Thanks, and again, well done
  9. Hi again, OK. As long as I know. Thanks for letting me know :) Regards, Ross
  10. Hi there, Any idea why there are not any autograph pre-payment links for Laura Vandervoort or Jane Badler available for Saturday 7th July? Have they sold out already? I have my Jeri Ryan pre-payments, but also wishing the above too. Any help please would be appreciated. Regards Ross
