  1. prettyconfusd, those are very non confusing statements! LIKE!!!
  2. Shouldn't you have voted for Enterprise-E if you will be attending with a First Contact uniform?
  3. Who is trying to convince that one is the BEST (although I still think Digital is best for storage and future reproduction)? Doesn't even matter if one is better or not. My entire point is that if you provide both then everyone is happy :)
  4. The source itself is digital because all professional SLR cameras are digital now. Print itself is a conversion. So scanning these photos are like making coke out of water then filtering the coke to get the water back (which won't be pure water).
  5. But I have seen negative attitudes in this forum. As JacknDaniel said, no one looses anything with this, not like anyone is asking to stop the printed photos. Everyone only gains if implemented. USB or download. Email is impractical I think.
  6. I gotta get me one of those plastic folder.
  7. I didn't think I had to mention it every time. 63 votes is better than having no votes and not having any idea at all.
  8. Thank you for the information. JacknDaniel, we are not relatively small amount of people. Current poll from http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....showtopic=75701 suggests 50% want both Digital and Printed and 21% want all digital as opposed to 19% for all printed. There is a high demand for digital copies. All high resolution Digital [21.31%] All printed [19.67%] All/Mostly Digital and some printed [3.28%] All/Mostly printed and some Digital [6.56%] Both Digital and Printed [49.18%]
  9. It is nothing to do with this specific topic. It is a general rule regarding the discussion/mentioning of other events. I removed your first post. Tommy typed an explanation as to why faster than I did. And I completely understood and re-posted with all reference removed. Why was it removed again, it didn't contain any reference anywhere in the text?
  10. Sorry for the confusion, I didn't mean you, rather whoever removed it. Apologies for my inappropriate use of the pronoun. I find it very inappropriate that showmasters would try to hide the fact that this service is offered for free already at similar events. They somehow are trying their best to project the idea that this service is very hard to implement and not offered at similar events.
  11. The actual paragraph I referenced says "Posts containing links or references to other events will be edited or deleted" (My use of bold). You may not have linked to it, but I think we can agree that stating the name is a reference... Why did you remove my post again? It had absolutely no NAME or reference.
  12. I created the poll specifically for that purpose only.
  13. Good enough for me. I will wait then. Thanks!
  14. But you loose qualityyyyyyyyyyyyyy biggggggggggggg timeeeeeeeeeeeee.
  15. Gees! Are you even following the topic or just commenting randomly?? Who ever said no body wants printed copies? The whole point here is MANY or maybe even MOST people want digital copies but we are ONLY getting printed copies. We are already getting printed copies no matter what (WHICH ARE PRINTED from Digital copies i.e. the source media itself is Digital), so why not get those high quality digital for those who want them. I fail to understand why that is a problem for you since no one is saying stop the printed photos (which you want). The appropriate analogy is: customer:"hey I have my ipod and CD player for music, give me those high bit rate mp3s!" organizer:"nope! You get a analog cassette which you can convert if you want to mp3 yourself. Oh yes and don't forget, you will have about 20% noise in every song and low quality from the tape but hey we don't care, you got your tape! Besides how will the Artist sign it if we didn't give you the crappy tape?" customer:"Erm..But you could give me high quality mp3 which I can always downgrade to tape for signing while keeping my original high quality stuff" organizer:"To complex, not listening." Yet you like to tell others what kind of pictures they DON'T need to take? Printed image IS obsolete. For every 2000 picture I take, I might print just 1. For most people they will only print a selected number of pics (maybe to hang or send to someone) out of the hundreds of pictures they would take. Yet you seem convinced that those selected numbers encompass the entire world of his photos ignoring the vast majority. There is a poll here: http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....showtopic=75701 While the votes of only 26 people do not represent the views of thousands of fans who will be attending, the response so far clearly suggests that there is more interests towards digital copies than printed ones. But I am sure you don't care about what other people think. You seem more of a "whatever I think is right" kind of person I haven't seen any post so far saying we don't need any printed copies. This is not a fight to see who wins. It is a simple and logical request that it is high time to offer both printed and digital copies. If offered, I myself would buy all five digital photoshoots but one printed one to be signed by Shatner.
  16. You sound like one of those people who a few years ago was telling me to throw away all my vinyl and CDs because mp3s were the unstoppable future. Nein danke.Still, if the physical image really will be obsolete, maybe I'll be able to go and live in the National Portrait Gallery when they get rid of all those pesky paintings And mp3 is the unstoppable future. Digital music sales surpass CD sales. iTunes sales alone is $2.8 billion and CD sales will drop 40% this year. Would you listen to an Artist/album who only sells music in cassette/tapes? Not even sure, how you compared hand painted priceless PAINTINGS in national gallery to individual common daily PHOTOS, so won't even comment on that
  17. Please vote given every option which option would you have purchased? Assume that a photo shoot ticket purchase entitles you to either Digital or Printed copy (I know this is not ideal as personally I would love to have both given the option, but if given the option of either, I would choose Digital).
  18. Hi organizers, do the tickets actually sell out and if yes then how fast? I ask this because I would love to buy the gold pass but being a student I am not currently able to afford that. I can afford/buy the 3 day pass but from what I have read in the forum, you will now allow upgrade later. Hence I have not bought any tickets yet. I hope to be able to afford the gold pass in a month or so. Do tickets sell out by then and will you post in the forum if ticket count goes low? Thanks for your response.
  19. Rockstar is offering a suggestion/idea which he is perfectly entitled to do. Of course he is but he said "rather than discussing here..." which is opposite of the idea of a discussing board where people discuss and come up with a solution. :)
  20. ? Um...I'm new here but I thought the point of these discussions threads was... well... discussion (?) Some people just think a discussion forum is only for discussing things that ONLY THEY find interesting. If you don't have anything to contribute or don't like the topic then don't comment, no one is forcing you. Not up to you what we want to discuss. Each ticket can come with a pre-printed code. You use that code to register your email and details later on the site to receive your pictures. Same code can be used to purchase digital copies directly on the day of the convention. It's not rocket science and this scheme is used at many places. At the booth, the code doesn't even have to be typed in and can be read directly by the barcode which then automatically copies the proper photo image to the USB drive. The code can be a secure pattern so that it cannot be just guessed. Or if we worry about overhead, we can only allow images to be downloaded later from the site using that code.
  21. Just because you currently do something does not mean you will keep doing it for 100 years. In few years printed images will be obsolete, will you still only provide printed image then? Well since you probably already had so many suggestions before, which idea so far seemed the most feasible one but was ruled out for some reason? Maybe we can think of a solution for that particular problem. Just saying....And I keep hearing that everything is done by volunteers and hence hard to implement anything. I can't volunteer manual work but I can certainly help programming/coding a system where we can get to download these images later. That is exactly what happens when reprints are required to be sent out in the post at SM events. Well in that case can't we similarly request digital copies and you just generate a ticket where an email with encrypted time limited download link is emailed to the recipient (after convention, not during)?? I can certainly help with such system.
  22. lol Do you really think people look at the photo, determine who it is and email it?? Is that what happens when you order a mp3 from iTunes? It's all automated. I can code a system that can match and download images from the server (if named appropriately or tagged according to ticket) within 30 minutes. It's not something HUGE! The only thing here is naming and moving the files appropriately based on the ticket or VQ.
  23. You can afford the £3000 VIP ticket but not the additional £1.6 booking fee?
  24. I second that. Newer DSLRs have wireless capabilities which instantly transfer images, no need to physically connect anymore.
