  1. As I am also new to this, can you check I am correct with my times I am with RDA. I am ticket no.G098, so I am (group C) on Saturday morning (signing 9.45 - 10.30) and (photo 10.45 - 11.00). Am I understanding this correctly that I am allowed once my group has been called to go in anytime after that, join a group line and have the signature or photo? Not that I intend to do that but nice to know just is case I need to join in later. Also I have bought an extra photo ticket with RDA and would like to spread the photographs across 2 days, so am I correct that I will be able to join on the end of the photo shoot on Sunday with my extra ticket to have my picture taken with him? So I get my main gold picture on Saturday and my extra on Sunday? Thank you so much for putting up with my questions over the weeks, and answering them so quickly. Mind you might be one or two more before Friday
  2. Just a quick question about the Friday evening cocktail party. What is the dress code, is it smart/casual, or a little black dress kind of event or just come as you please?
  3. I, for one, would love the idea of having some bar stools around. Last year, they had low chairs available, and I needed one. Felt a bit silly being so low, while everyone else was standing up. Having a higher chair, I would be able to interact with everyone a whole lot better. I think if there were some stools to the side, most people wouldn't feel the need for them, but those that did, could put them to good use. I agree, that is just what I was thinking. There doesn't have to be a stool for each person, most people will be happy standing or even prefer to stand, but if there are some there for those that need them, it will be great. Plus as you say far easier to interact with people.
  4. The ones you've been to have likely been smaller ones (less than 80 gold pass holders) were we've not been as strict, and just allowed the guests to wonder as they please (with a GA). I'm sorry you missed some guests. There should always be plenty of crew in the room, if you're ever in that situation again please do tell one of the crew (or me) and we'll make sure you see those guests. At the larger events like Twilight we are a lot more strict. We have the 12 tables and each guest is brought to each table. So as long as you stay at your table, you WILL receive ALL of the guests. There are 2 issues with it being seated: 1: There is a huge issue with space if we sit everyone. We would need at least double if not triple the space to sit everyone instead of standing. 2: ME want it to be a drinks reception and not seated meet and great. It's always been the idea that it's informal and not really really ridged, which if everyone is seated it turns from being an informal drinks reception into a "pass the guest" party. With having 12 tables and bringing each guest to each table it's already got slightly more ridged but that's really as far as we want it to go. People may disagree but ME don't want it to get too ridged. I don't know if I am allowed to make suggestions here or if it is only to ask questions, but here goes. The first Convention RDA did with AT, we were seated and yes, it was quite formal as they had to move around the tables and it was a bit like musical chairs for them, or as you say pass the guest, but at least we were relaxed and comfortable while waiting. I do understand that you want it to remain informal, so if it is the informality that is stopping you from seating us, how about bar stools? This could be a good compromise. We could perch on these and they would only take up the room of a person standing, you could have them at the side of the room, so if we want one we could collect it, but I for one would not be comfortable standing throughout the reception, and if we get given a chair to sit on and we have bar tables which are higher we could be eye height with the table, the problem then is everyone around is going to be so much higher than the person sitting. Also, with the pain RDA is in with his feet etc, he might appreciate a stool to perch on. Another suggestion is you could do a relaxed sit down and have the guests wander around the room similar to the last con he did in Vancouver. Just a thought.
  5. Thank you, that sounds great, just what I wanted to hear, lots of RDA
  6. Questions are always welcome. Personally I have never seen a seat by the autograph table. Generally speaking you are not really there for a long amount of time (10 seconds to 60 seconds on average), it does vary from guest to guest though and depends on available time, how chatty they/you are, how busy their queue is etc. VQ system - you are allocated a group based on your ticket number, for example Gold tickets 1-30 are Group A, Gold 31-60 will be Group B and so on. This group is used to determine when you can go up and collect your autographs from a specific guest (and also attend the photo shoto sessions). You can not go up until your group has been called. In the case of autographs you don't need to go up straight away and can joing the queue at any point after your group has been called. With photo shoots you need to join as soon as your group is called or you may miss out on that. The schedule will list what approximate times your group will be called to the various guests. This is usually posted on here in the week leading up to the event. Have a look here at the last event schedule for an idea of how it works http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....showtopic=64802 Thank you for your reply. After reading it and being able to see a past schedule, it all makes a lot more sense. Looking at the past schedule it appears that all guests do a chat each day and a joint chat. Knowing how much RDA seems to love being on stage - will he be doing the same at this event? I hope so as it would without doubt make it a very special weekend, because if I am honest, RDA being a guest is the reason I am coming along, so the chance to see him on stage as much as possible having fun will be great.
  7. Thanks for that. I have only ever been to one Convention before and that was the first one RDA did. So all this is very new to me so forgive me for any stupid questions I ask:-)) Do we have a chair to sit on at the table when RDA is signing his autograph or do we stand? Also a lady called Queen Sindel talked about the "Virtual queue system" what is that?
  8. I hope this appears in the right place, I am new at this and have just joined, so I am catching up! I have been reading this thread and the questions from people not able to stand in line for autographs. As the Hilton has no shortage of chairs or space and we are called in groups of 30 - why can't we have a line of chairs so that we can either stand of sit if we need to? That way nobody has to feel they need to ask for a chair, or have to sit out of the queue and feel a little isolated at not being part of the queue and the chat that will be taking place, they also don't have to go through asking and waiting for a chair. Just a thought:-))
