Hi Everyone, Sorry for the bad news, but Billy will not be able to attend Collectormania 4. He will in fact be out of the country at the time of the show, and so obviously unable to attend. Sorry for the disappointment, but I would also like to stress though, that this does not change the status of the other LOTR guests we have announced. All the best Showmasters

Yes, Michael is confirmed to join us at C4. Keep checking the main collectormania site for info on what days he will be appearing. It will be posted as soon as it's confirmed.

Sorry Vegeta, read the Prologue of FOTR and Gandalf's account of Smeagol's history to Frodo. The so-called "river-people" were actually a branch of hobbits known as the Stoors. Therefore Smeagol/Gollum is a hobbit. Kenny

I can now lay to rest a long-running argument in the Showmasters camp. Smeagol is DEFINITELY a hobbit. There's two vital pieces of information. 1. From Appendix B:- 2463 About this time, Deagol the Stoor finds the One Ring and is murdered by Smeagol. 2. From the Prologue to Fellowship of the Ring:- Before the crossing of the mountains the Hobbits had already become divided into three somewhat different breeds: Harfoots, Stoors, and Fallohides. Therefore, Smeagol = Stoor = 5 Hobbitses at C4 !!! You can now expect to see Mark make an appearance at C4 as you've never seen him before... Kenny

OK, one last argument FOR Smeagol being a hobbit. In the ancient poems of the races of middle-earth, the hobbits were missed out. There was nothing in those poems about "hobbit-like" creatures....soooo it looks like Smeagol could have been a hobbit after all!!! Mark... I think a certain orange thing may be coming out of mothballs... Kenny

So it's all very vague as far as I can say. Gandalf seems to be saying they are very similar but doesn't out and out say that Smeagol was a hobbit. I dunno, this is a tough call.... I think I'll stand back and watch the sparks fly on this one... Kenny

Just to add to the "Smeagol:- Hobbit or not?" debate, here's a passage from the book spoken by Gandalf. "Long after but still very long ago, there lived by the banks of the Great River on the edge of Wilderland a clever-handed and quiet-footed little people. I guess they were of hobbit-kind;akin to the fathers of the fathers of the Stoors, for they loved the river, and often swam in it, or made little boats of reeds. There was amongst them a family of high repute, for it was large and wealthier than most, and it was ruled by a grandmother of the folk, stern and wise in old lore, such as they had. The most inquisitive and curious-minded of that family was called Smeagol." So it would seem that even Gandalf wasn't 100% sure of Smeagols origins. Kenny
