  1. I'd like to see a few tables to gather my things on too around the signing areas. I don't really want to roll my posters up on the floor.

Somewhere safe to leave your bags whilst in the busier queues might be handy as well.

If I don't have to hold this that and that in the queue as well as 3 items to be signed it might speed things up. If I have to put them all down first in front of a guest I have to pick them all up as well! And juggle signed stuff thats not dried yet!

  2. Very cool!!!!

    Will be meeting her.

Ask her if she ever saw Alien 3 and what she thought about it...

I read an interview with her some time in the mid 90s - she was at the premiere. Sig was next to her and warned her about the autopsy scene.

I wasn't going to start Alien people.... (partly cause I've already met two for other franchises) but I might have to start now. Damn you Showmasters ;)

Mac McDonald's in Aliens isn't he?

  3. Why get John Hurt to sign the poster as he was not in Raiders!

Lots of people get Star Wars (A New Hope) posters signed by anyone in the franchise. It's easier to have them all in one place, and to add others.

If you start a Crystal Skull poster then you might want Karen Allen on that, so that's two for her.

  4. oh really? man and we don't have any PM service on here, looks like I'll be sad about not meeting one of the one people I want to meet :YAHOO:

    Yes, really.

Sorry for editing your post - but the word filters that automatically change certain event names are there for just this reason.

Is that also the reason the PM are disabled? - because being nice helpful fans of cult television we might like to share infomation of rare people at 'rival events'.

Slight irony when it's a SM event they want the word spread on other forums/websites - if no one else can do the same here.

  5. what's the difference in arranging these at six months notice, and doing it at six weeks notice ? ;)

Depends quite a bit if you're doing as cheaply as possible; I tend to get what Trains I can sorted two months in advance. Indeed the cheapest Trains for LF&CC are now up, but there aren't enough guests to interest me yet. Might be too late time they are.

  6. They're clearly happy to keep the conventions in the same hotel. It makes business sense to be fair - plenty of people are obviously willing to travel to Northampton for this and other cons, and the organisers know exactly what they're getting.

I'd probably of done 4 of their events this year had they been in London - I'm in Devon. But Northampton by Train involves a trip to London and then out again.

Cardiff from Devon is easy ;)

  7. Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps:

Kathryn Drysdale and Sheridan Smith are both (randomly) doing a Dr Who con in July so they'd be up for it at least!

    Hotel Babylon:

Alexandra Moen (Saxon's wife in Dr Who)

Ms. Moen is doing the Dr Who event with Sheridan as well.

  8. Probably, still I hope she comes to Manchester as that's the only one I can go to. She seems like such a lovely woman, I really would love to meet her :P

She's doing a convention in Birmingham with her Dad in July.

  9. Yay so she is doing conventions lets hope she can come to Collectormania Manchester even though it's not in the Summer. :D:D

Glasgow's more likely since her Dad's attending!

I saw her last year at a con being dragged along by her younger brothers. She seemed a lot shorter in person.

  10. It's all relative. I'm going to a 1 day Dr Who event next month costing £40, with 17 guests, 2 free autos each. In fact I paid £10 as well for a front row seat.

Gold ticket would have been worthless for me as I don't do the Photos. But if you love them I can see it paying for itself instantly.

Here's the thing though - I haven't even got a Hub Ticket yet, I need a lot more guests first. I have the Hotel sorted but no rush to put down any money I can't get back! Too much of a gamble.

  11. Before the ink was hardly dry, items signed by Scott and McDivitt appeared on an online auction called Astroauction. I can't believe there are people out there who are so insensitive as to attempt to blatantly make a profit so quickly from the good will of our hereos.

Whilst I've never done it myself, I don't think there's always anything wrong in selling autographs for profit. If I spent £40 to get to an event, and bought 5 £10 autographs and sold 4 at £20 each, I'd still only break even keeping 1 for myself. But it might allow me to attend another event. There's nothing wrong with getting your hobbies to pay their own way!

I think the reason I don't do it I'd never be sure bits would sell for more than I paid for them!

  12. Couldn't something be done so you had to post 10 replies before being able to start a new thread or something?

That's not exactly fair on the rest of us forum users though is it?:( And it still doesnt stop people creating these spam threads - they usually just register and create one thread and never post again.

If they had to post 10 replies in various threads to earn the privage to post new topics, it probably wouldn't be worth their effort. I don't recall as much spam on other forums.

  13. Did you get a full set of CE medallions in the end?

No just four. But I was very happy with four! I got the Germany one sitting in on the merchandise talk, then got another three later. I really wanted the UK one which I got.

Basically they did it anyone who needed 1 went first, then the 2s, then anyone left after was allowed three. Which was fair really - the people who made it to 11 then 10 shows had top priority to complete the set.

I never found my way up there till the last day! I would have liked to of attended more, but you can only do so much!

I think they were going for £40 each on eBay just afterwards, too much for me to get more, but not a price I wanted to sell at either!
