He flew on the Apollo 16, STS-4, and STS-51-C missions. He had been scheduled to fly on Apollo 13, but was held back due to concerns about a potential illness (which he did not contract). It would be great to complete my picture of the original crew of Apollo 13!!! Come on please show your support on this thread and convince the guys to get him for us!!! :YAHOO:

  3. I want you all to have a think about our stupid governments decision.

Sergei Krikalyev* was commander of Helen Sharman's mission to Mir in May 1991. The UK Government would not fund it, British industry was equally pathetic and yet the Russians funded her flight.

Yes, the Russians paid for a subject of this country to fly in to space,

    for free...

Now they say Mr. Krikalyev is not allowed in the UK, what a gracious country we live in...

One day something will happen between the west and Russia and these silly idiots in power will bleat and moan 'I wonder what went wrong...'

    You heard it here first...

  5. Bloody useless Labour Government  , why can't they have Visa's? Are they a threat?? I was really looking forward to meeting these chaps, so much for good will between nations when there's toss pots in government,

Regards and bests to all esp. Sergai Krikalev and Valerie Tokarev

PS Who voted this shower of idiots in to power any way? I can't find any one who admits to this, perhaps there autographs would be worth something? :(

Sergai Krikalev and Valerie Tokarev have been unable to get a Visa granted by the British Government.

Bad luck Dave. Please keep these two in mind for the future.

If they had been illegal immegrants or assylum seekers, there would not have been a problem.

  6. Hi Folks,

    Q. for you, a friend of mine has found a hardback, first edition copy of

'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish' by Douglas Adams, 1984, Pan Books and it is signed by Mr. Adams.

My friend would like to know who much such a document would be worth?

Oh, he does not want to part with it....

Look forward to hearing from you,

    Regards and bests

    Not Burt, surely?! :poki:

Great announcement - just trying to find something suitable for the ocassion now. I'm really struggling to find a Dambusters poster which is what I ideally want signing, but there are very few available. Only one I can see on ebay currently has already been signed by Mr. Todd, so it kind of defeats the purpose!!!

Ha, ha, I like that, you made me smile :D

I would like Richard Todd to sign my Dambusters book that 'Johny' Johnson signed last year.

As and when I meet other Dambusters, well get them to sign as well! :gorgeous:

    So be there folks!

guess you are all getting excited!

  8. Well done to all involved!

I have been watching a 3 hour video set some one lent me '80th Anniversary of the RAF' and it has Richard Todd introducing various parts of it! In September I am presenting a talk to my local astronomical society about the Peenemunde raid and a nice signed picture of Mr. Todd as Guy Gibson would be excellent. What pictures will be available? Any with him stood next to a Lancaster?

Regards and best wishes to all

  9. I was sorry to hear the passing of Sir Arthur, I have collected and read his books since 1971-ish and I have always enjoyed his work.

I have a letter I received from him that he signed, it is safely kept...

He will be missed but how about NASA naming the ISS 'Space Station Clarke'?

Good night Sir Arthur, rest easy

  10. I am sorry to hear the passing of Jimmy James, I met him at Autographica in October 2007 and he came over as a very nice chap. I must admit before Autogrpahica I had not heard of him and would like to say thank you for allowing me the brief time I had to meet him, other wise I would not have. I bought his book and he signed it and when I got home bought a plastic cover for it to protect it, I'll treasure that book...

Good Night Mr. James and thank you for all you did!

Regards and best wishes to all

  11. Excellent, well done Team!!!

I remember July/August 1971 and watching Apollo 15 launch on the TV, I was gutted I had to go holiday with my Old Folks in a grotty caravan (ALL Caravans are grotty) but I listened to Apollo 15 on the radio news.

I got 'Two Sides of the Moon' so I'll be getting Alexei Leonov's autograph as well!!!

    ROLL APRIL!!!

    Regards all

  12. Yes, I was sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Knievel, I was spell bound as a kid watching him on television.

I remember his model motorbike, I guess it was one of the highest selling toys of all time, if not it should have been!

A great man, a brave man and one I always admired,

Good night Mr. Knievel, see you later...

A legend of the 20th Century has passed away at the age of 69. The international icon of the 1970s gained fame for his jumps over buses, live sharks and Snake River Canyon in Idaho.

  13. Good News about 'Brum' it will make a change to be easier for the rest of us, why should London get it all there own way.

Whereas for me Heathrow is easy and Birmingham is more difficult and more expensive - I live in London.

Same for me, I only live 10 minutes from Heathrow, it was no problem if I only wanted to met the odd guest that interested me as it was fairly cost effective.

I'm afraid it would have to have an exceptional guest list to warrant me travelling.

Thats exactly how I feel about London!

  14. Bobby Crush and Bob Carolgees :WINCE: ha, ha, ha, you made me laugh! eh, there are some wags!

How about that fat kid of Oppotunity Knoks who made grannies cry???

    Seriously

I always thought Albert Einstein's auto was the most expensive...

    Shame about N.A....

But how about other Apollo era astronauts?

  15. Just a simple thought but I guess everyone could come up with a venue for where they live

But York has a racecourse and the stands hold events all year round.

there's brillant communication links (A1, M1, A19, M62 and railway) plus there's a very good photo lab about 20-30 minutes away from the RC.

The RC is on some very good bus route's routes both local and wider spread.

    Plus I live nearby!!!!

But I guess - like I said bfore - every one could come up with a good place for a Autographica or other event

There again York is the best city in the UK... ;) ...and its central

PS. Is it really a week since A-10...

  16. Next year why not have a flip chart  in the entrance/desk area so people could post messages asking for rides/or offering lifts? With times, number of seats, etc, I would love to help out, plus its a great way to meet other collectors. As long as they don't smell of BO/Smoking!!! :poki:

That's the issue with the idea. It's very hard to say "God you're not getting in my car you smelly git!", when the person is there in front of you.

Also the issue of someone turning out to be a complete psycho kidnapper (either the driver or passenger).

Ha, ha, ha, Too Tall, you said what I thought and darn't write.... :YAHOO:

You are right though, then theres a mentalist government banging on about globel warming and car sharing!

and as for psycho kidnappers :firedevil: !!! guess theres a song in there some where.... or was it psycho killer.... :D

    Regards all

  17. He wasn't upset. He was tired and jet lagged having only arrived on Saturday morning from America. On Sunday something he'd eaten (probably) had given him a bad case of sickness and he took to his bed in the late afternoon.

    Sickness eh?

He's in good company, my daughter :chair: was sick on the way down to London and I was 'calling Hughy on the big white phone' :chair: during saturday night...

    Charmed... :chair:

Guess there's some bug going about... :chair:

  18. About the photos, would it have been possible to set up a computer and printer in the hotel???

Surely a really good quality printer with decent archive paper could be bought by you guys who run the event and use it over a couple of years? Must be cheaper than the poor chap on the m/bike (sorry mate, don't know your name, hope you don't get any unwanted mail...).

About transport, I felt a bit guilty going in an empty car and thought I could have given some one a lift. As it happened I did meet some friends and afterwards drove them to the airport drop off point for the UG. I passed the hotel on my way back to London and wondered ya, there must have been some one wanting a lift. Next year why not have a flip chart :D in the entrance/desk area so people could post messages asking for rides/or offering lifts? With times, number of seats, etc, I would love to help out, plus its a great way to meet other collectors. As long as they don't smell of BO/Smoking!!!

    Your thoughts people, please. :D

Regards and bests to all esp the m/bike rider....
