  1. The thing that has eternally bugged me is that the other organiser and it's admin section have ....., encouraged people to go to LFACC and C6 to verbally assault Chris Judge and Julie Caitin Brown (comments, as with many others, since deleted!!!!),

Coop, I'm enjoying your posts so nothing personal, but I've got to disagree with you on that point. For instance if you look on the Julie Caitlin Brown thread (locked but not deleted) where someone advocated giving her a hard time Wolf admin's response was:

'We would not advise any tomatoes or eggs, but simply NOT buying an autograph will send a clear message.'

I think they've always made clear that as far as they are concerned if people want to protest in some 'civilised' way, fine, but they are against anyone 'attacking' JCB.

  2. Some of you guys really want to hear from me don't you.

OK, someone way back said something like it was unfair of me to be nasty to Showmasters like this when they'd been nice to me yesterday. Well, to that person, you have a point. Showmasters have been nice to me and it was a bit mean of me to make my amusement so clear. So sorry for that.

Thinking about it, I was crowing more because of some of you Showmasters fans than at Showmasters.

For a while before the Statements came out we had 'heavy' discussions going on here. Once the statements came out a lot of people here felt they'd 'won' and suddenly there was an influx on the Wolf boards. Suddenly there were people sticking their necks out and going over there who'd only been posting on here until they felt the fight had been won. To me that smacked of 'crowing' whatever the content of their posts (and I'm sure that some at least didn't mean it that way). People over there were feeling hurt and let down by Chris and/or Wolf.

I was feeling emotionally raw, ready to throw up my hands and laugh at the whole thing... and the oportunity for a laugh arose. Read back and I did say before SM's posted that I wasn't sure I should believe it about the hobbits. But yep, I was very happy to have a laugh and let some of those folks who've been over at the Wolf boards crowing know about it.

So, currently, I do still think it would be a good idea if Showmasters answered the contract questions. Seems I'm not the only one asking. But I don't really care that much if they do or don't. My original motivation in getting involved in this whole thing was that I didn't want Chris to let down the fans he's told he's coming to Wolf. I've lost that battle. Maybe it was lost before I even started.

As for the rest: no I don't think it's really resolved. If it was Showmasters and Wolf would be making freinds now. They aren't are they? I wish they were, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. It would be nice if it all turned out to be some kind of misunderstanding, but it doesn't look like it's ever going to 'turn out ok'. We all have to live with that in our own ways.

  3. Right now I'm just intrigued. People seem to be getting very defensive around here. If Showmasters post I doubt I'll go 'digging' for more. Just who knows what you'll hear a few months down the road? That's why I left it open for more 'evidence' turning up.

As to what I'd gain, I think I've already made clear that if it turns out they don't always have 'the works' I'd find the irony of it pretty hysterical. I have that kind of sense of humour.

  4. If you read back I've clearly stated that I wasn't sure whether to believe it was true. But I was enjoying the picture while it lasted *G*

Serioulsy though... I think Hobbitlover asked some important questions, and, Showmasters, you haven't really answered. I appreciate you are busy, and asking you to go through the details of every 'contract and every situation' (there's a difference?) you've ever had is not feasible.

So, just as a matter of curiosity, and not making accusations here, have you had a full, signed, written contract with every actor when you've announced for a show, past and future?

  5. please point out where exactly it has been answered that it is justifiable to delete threads without any cause?

please point out where also it has been said why it is justifiable to prevent people from discussing a topic that clearly they they have an opinion on and an interest in?

My mistake, I thought your questions were about contracts, the ones I've seen have been.

There are topics left open that you can things about SG8 in. If you want to ask questions about the way the board is run, maybe you should try posting in a more appropriate forum? I'd try 'Website support'.

  6. I just got a thread locked over there.  LOL

Funny how ur willing to slag off Showmasters and make them look stupid when ur just going on the memory of ONE member on here that can't even fully remember AND has no evidence, yet the members from THIS board that have gone over to Wolf (Gandalf, myself, Ashleo, Stan etc) have NOT attacked Wolf, and would rather try and discuss things fairly with the Admin. Kinda makes ur actions look a bit petty don't u think?

Well maybe if you came up with a new question instead of repeatedly going on about something that's already been answered if you bothered to read the threads there... It does come across as you are trying to pick fights for the sake of it and/or have only come on the board to crow when you think the arguments been won.

And yes, I am probably guilty of a bit of crowing right now. If you read what I've put, I've said I'm not totally believing it's true that the hobbits didn't have contracts (though it's 2 people not one saying it last time I looked). Just sorry, but if it's true it's hysterical as far as I'm concerned.

  7. however, if they had another assurance than a contract, then fair play to them - if it was enough to get the hobbits announced, then it must have been a strong assurance.

Wolf had other assurances besides a contract...

Pot to Kettle "You're black! You're black!"

Still not quite believing this is true...

  8. Elijah Wood made a comment about that during the talk.

but does it really matter? so far the guests are always appearing or if they cancel they announce it on time before the show starts.

    Priceless!

It matters because a major part of SM's arguement against Wolf is that they never had a full signed contract with Chris.

    Excuse me, but I'm ROFL

  9. No, because they don't cost 100. But yes, I did pay. You think I get free tickets?

If you read what I've said, I'm not accusing them of poaching. The actuallity of what I accused them of has been proved true. I'm still working out how I feel morally. Poaching is a morally loaded word, would you feel more comfortable if I said they 'aquired' a guest who had previously made a commitment elsewhere?

  10. OK, this is a reply to 'my' thread since it just got locked as I pressed send...

What, I'm important enough to have my own thread now? Not sure if I should be flattered!

Matrix: I am unlikely to go to both events even if I decided I wanted to. I don't have my own transport and have no desire to spend several hours on the tube (and spend a lot of extra money) when I could be listening to guest talks/hanging out with freinds/whatever. Maybe I'll still go to a SM's event sometime.

Even had the dates not changed, I would have been at the other con that then would have been on the same date (I went... it was one of the best). Even without all that has happened since, I was lost as an attendee at LFCC as soon as the date was set.

Thanks to Showmasters for your post.

I came on accusing Showmasters of poaching a guest, who already had a commitment to another con. It's now fact that a guest, who has told fans on several occasions that he's doing another event is now coming to a Showmasters event. Put in simple terms I was right. But the real situation is always more complex. Legally he may have been free to do that. Morally I'm still trying to work out what has gone on and whether I'm comfortable with it all.
