  1. I didn't know she gave a preview of book 10! Is it on her website? That is so exciting :) Yeah, you can check it out here: http://www.charlaineharris.com/DITFChpt1.pdf It just made me even more desperate to read the book and find out what happens to our dear Sookie. Roll on May!
  2. Thanks for all the advice everyone, it truly is a whole new world to me! I worked out that if they managed to get 6 guests to attend and charged £15 per photo it would cost a total of £90 to have a photo with each guest. Whereas the difference between the standard and the silver tickets is £57, so if I wanted photos I would definetly be better off with silver. What to do, what to do? lol Thanks again everyone!
  3. Thanks for all your replies I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the format to me. Given all your responses I feel a bit more confident that this is something I might enjoy. I am a bit of a fan girl but not in a squealing, shrieking manner, well at least not at the actors anyway! haha! I'm really taken with the idea of the Q & A sessions so if I can convince my Mr I think I shall be attending after all. It's a week before my birthday so I guess I could use it as a good excuse. Quick query, I will probably just go for the general ticket; if I wanted to order pictures what is the additional cost per guest? Would I be better off with silver tickets or even gold? Thanks again for all your help!
  4. It's a difficult one to call to say which I prefer; I really enjoy both the show and the books. I would not say the books are extremely well written from a literary point of view, however Harris has created a fantastic 'new' world and some really interesting characters to keep you hooked. I've read all 9 books twice now and I've peeked at the first chapter of book 10, which Harris bestowed upon us fans as a Christmas gift. The first chapter looks very promising, I'm looking forward to May! If I were to compare the show and the books I would have to say I prefer Sookie's voice in the books, though at times I find her behaviour difficult to understand. The show on the other hand has given a voice to all the characters, allowing the audience a peek into their lives when Sookie isn't around. I prefer Tera, Lafayette and Terry in the show, but in all the other characters I feel I can feel a strong similarity between the books and the series.
  5. Hello Everyone, I've never been to a convention and thus I have no idea what to expect. I've read the Bitten site and understand that there are parties, Q & A sessions and so forth but what are they really like? What happens? Are there stalls to buy Collectables? Are the guests really interested in being there? What is it like getting the photos and autographs done? Do you (or the guests) end up feeling awkward posing for pictures? Do you get to say anything to them or is it usually a quick hi, sign, go scenario? What are the parties like? Is the music usually good? Sorry, I know all my questions sound a bit odd; I’m just trying to figure out if attending a convention is a situation I'd be comfortable in. I'm not much of a "OMG I'm your biggest fan!" type of gal you see. I guess if anything I'm a little shy and would be more interested in hearing the actors talk about their experiences than getting autographs etc. but if I've paid for it, then I might as well get in line, lol. Any advice, stories or other is welcome. Thanks guys!
  6. It would be lovely to shake hands with any of these actors; they all do such a wonderful job. I imagine Sam and Kristin will be fantastic speakers. I admit I don't know much about Sam but Kristin seems like someone you could have a good conversation with over a cup of tea, you know? If I had to pick the other guests I think it would be great to meet: Deborah Ann Woll -apparently she is a HUGE fan girl and she seems incredibly sweet. Alexander Skarsgard - yes he is very easy on the eye but he also seems very down to earth despite all the hype. Stephen Moyer - I was listening to the DVD commentary and he was brilliant, I find a lot of people can be so dull when commenting on episodes, but he was brilliant! Alan Ball - I've never been to a convention before so not sure if creators 'do' these events but again fantastic mind, would be a great speaker. Charlaine Harris - Again not sure if this would be the 'norm' for a convention but it would be wonderful to hear Harris discuss the series both in terms of the books and the TV show. Fingers crossed everyone!
