  1. Having read through a lot of posts about her, other than obviously below par photo shoots (which may have been down to an injury) it sounds like she was like a lot of guests who have attended events and left fans divided in their opinions.

It sounds like she interacted with some people in her autograph queue, when others met her, she was trying to get through autographs quickly so didn't interact. Unfortunately this stuff happens with a lot of busy guests. When I got Matt Smith's autograph at a previous event, he didn't look up once and made no attempt to interact, others I presume got a hello or eye contact - I was quite gutted at the time, so believe me I know what a lot of you have gone through (not just with Matt tbh) but don't vilify Famke too much.

  2. Its kinda bizarre how poles apart peoples experiences seem to be. I'm more than happy to respect someones personal space, but I said hello to her and got flat out ignored. Not a word, she didn't even look at me. Yet she seems to have been personable with others. Odd. Maybe she didn't like the look of me lol.

It's often down to people's perspectives. I've had what I thought were dreadful experiences with guests, only to see people posting on here about the same guests claiming to have had a wonderful one, when really they probably had just as much (or as little) interaction as me.

I finally realised this when I was behind someone in a queue who basically rambled at a guest, who then looked up and said the word yes and that was the interaction in total. Later they reported this on the forum as a full blown conversation.

  3. Here are my few photo shoots from the weekend, I'll perhaps post a link to Facebook when I manage to get some uploaded there.

  4.

Actually there were early bird and regular entry tickets, both that you could order in advance and those that you could pay on the day. The pay on the day was removed, which was a good idea considering venue capacity and people queueing for hours only to be let in when people were leaving. Removing the early bird/regular entry bit of it, however, created the mess that was last weekend. People who would otherwise have arrived for the 11 am entry to save a few quid, instead had no incentive to arrive later, meaning nearly everyone who bought tickets for the event arrived before or as the venue was opening its doors. That part of the old system worked, and it really should be re-introduced as it would solve the crowd/chaos issue that arised from everyone arriving and trying to get in at the same time.

I know standard entry was for sale in advance, but to be honest we always brought early bird. I think possibly now the event will be ticket in advance only, that system may work if the early bird ticket numbers were limited - essentially creating, as I said a true early bird ticket.

While this weekend's queue was long at times, I don't think it was chaos - although I'd love to know why on Saturday around 9.30, there was barely any queue outside the venue and station, yet we were queuing in front of people's houses!

  5.

"Once again, way too many people being allowed into the venue at one time"

So next time, you're the one who wants to stay outside? Or just the others? :blink2:

I think maybe this was a plea to bring back the early bird/regular system that we used to have. Going to e-tickets and wristbands is fine and all, but selling only one entry time means everyone is more likely to show up at the crack of morning (even those who would have preferred the later entry with the old system) making the venue overflooding with people from the very beginning. I didn't go last year, but the two years before that were very doable in terms of crowds in the morning. I never had any issues getting to what I had booked and I rarely had to do the afternoon shoots for a guest meaning I had that time to browse or get autographs instead. That would mean less crowded photoshoots as not every single one would flock around the first one making it hard to get to for those who genuinely had the correct tickets, and many of the early birds would not show up for the later shoot as they got through in the morning, meaning less crowded shoots for those opting for later entry.

The problem (as I see it) with the old system was that there was no actual early entry per se.

There was early bird tickets which were just pre-paid tickets (the name change is good btw), but because people could purchase these on the day and arrived early - everyone was entering at the same time behind the Golds. Then you would have the standard entry tickets which would be sold to people who arrived later, but realistically they were essentially just at the end of the early bird pay on the day queue!

Also, having the multiple queues was always annoying - now at least we just have the two queues and it's nice and simple....

Just to clarify the old queue system for newer people:

    Gold Pass - Queue 1

    Early Bird (Pre-Paid): Queue 2

Early Bird (Pay on the Day): Queue 3

All of these looking a mile long as you approach the venue, often you would join the likeliest looking queue before realising you were in the wrong one and having to join the back of another!

I'm sure plenty of people will say they had no issues, but that was my experience for at least a couple of shows.

Moving forward it's likely that LFCC entry tickets will all be pre-paid, I don't see it ever going back to a pay on the door event. Perhaps introducing a true early entry ticket is a good idea, but wouldn't that further erode the perks of having a gold pass?

  6. One thing that was odd was Claudia Wells had a no posed photo sign up but she was happily posing for photos all day, so clearly the sign wasnt her idea, so who put it up and why?

Or, perhaps she was just too polite to say no to people?

I've had my fair share of table shots, but after going to many shows and even witnessing a guest trying to enforce the no pictures rule themselves (it turned into quite a nasty scene) - I'd never ask for one if there was a sign up.

  7. As I said in another thread, I decided to opt for more photo shoots than autographs this year. As I'm not one for poses, I'll just post a few on here and the rest will be on my Facebook, along with some general snaps I took of the event and London.

  8. I didn't get many autographs, as I decided this year that photo shoots would be more interesting.

James Remar - I'm a big fan of the Warriors, but I'd not come across a picture of Ajax that I liked that much, so I got the DVD signed instead.

Sherilyn Fenn - Obviously fantastic in Twin Peaks, but I first saw her in 'Of Mice and Men' when my class watched it in High School. I also got a photograph signed as well.

Michael J. Fox - I've always been a big fan of his and as it goes beyond just one role, I wanted a non specific picture signing. Although had I come across an 8x10 of a Hard Way publicity shot I'd have got that signed, as I had one picture from that shoot, on my wall for years as a poster (the other side featured New Kids on the Block!).

  9. There are so many things that could be improved which are so obvious to many people, except for Showmasters apparently. Please take into account Xenomorph's points cause he nails it. The queuing was awful, why don't you just use fences to separate people like you do outside? The little pieces of tape on the floor aren't gonna stop people from pushing forward and they're not even visible.

I think this is a health and safety thing, if in an emergency the queue needed to be dispersed, barriers would make this harder.

  10. This is a very difficult subject to comment on, without causing offence!

Obviously unwanted physical contact and rude comments are not acceptable in any situation, but if a man or woman is going to Cosplay as a scantily clad character then they're taking that risk. I'm not in any way shape or form saying they're asking for it, I'm just saying that they're obviously going to attract attention and chances are some of it may be unwanted.

I think possibly the convention environment causes people to drop their guard. Unfortunately as "our" scene gets more popular and attracts a wider audience, the chances are higher, of mixing with people who may not have the good manners we have

  11.

Okay guys, please stay friendly on here. We do have guests coming on here too and there's been some posts made that were quite likely off putting to them.

As Stuart has already said, we simply don't know what made a guest ask for something, not giving out hugs etc. You pay for the photo, not hugs or body contact.

I once was in line for a female guest when there was quite a big commotion. Turned out a male attendee had put his hand where she didn't quite expect it to be. She was visibly upset and yes, due to that we were informed not to ask for hugs and please not to put our arm around her either. Completely understandably after she was shaken that way. Unfortunately for every 999 people that adhere to rules there's 1 bad apple who possibly spoils it for the others.

Its annoying that some idiots can ruin it for everyone. I hope people that do something like that are removed from the convention.

If it's the occasion I'm thinking of, it was a complete misunderstanding. I met the friend of the person involved and the poor sod still feels terrible about it.

  12. Gates McFadden explained to me last year (?) that she doesn't shake hands unless she has anti-bacterial gel, because she'd caught bugs off people before. I assume the all the Trek people have experienced this at some point!

I'm not entirely sure I'd want to shake that many hands in one day, bugs or no bugs!

  13. I am in the second batch so I cannot make Sunday so I will talk to staff on site as suggested but I agree that is asking a lot from him will he be in a separate area like Stan was last year to keep his queue away from the other signers

His queue can only be as long as there are Diamond Pass holders and as they're being called in batches, the queue should never get that big.

This could be the most managed queue in LFCC history! :D

  14. yeah ive getting him to sign my gremlins blu ray but my friend is giving me a very old poster of stripe he wants signed to him .. would it be odd to ask for two names one on each ?

As others have said it's not odd at all, I often pick up autographs for other people.

Just be prepared to be called the wrong name :)

  15. I saw a post on the Facebook that seemed to indicate there wouldn't be one, I assume the post/thread has been deleted now.

I've only posted a couple of times on there recently, so it couldn't have been that long ago.

    Edit:

I've found the post that I mentioned, reading it again I'm not sure if it's the same one others have mentioned:

  16.

You'll get your hand stamped so you can come back in.

That doesn't answer the question at all. Last year, because they massively oversold, people leaving to pop outside briefly were refused re-entry (with hand-stamps, etc) as they were at the venue capacity.

By this point lots of people have answered, but in my opinion there was never any reason to think that this year would be the same as last (with Saturday being pre-paid only the biggest factor).
