  1. Personally, I could not care less about Star Wars, not even if they get Harrison Ford, but hey, good for the ones that do!

Glad to hear there will be more themes though, hopefully some will be to my liking as well*.

If not, I'm still a happy camper of there are five or so other quest I care about, or Schwarzenegger and/or Stallone.

    * My own dream theme would be a Marvel theme, with Marvel guests past and present - from Agent Coulson to Rex Smith (First live action Daredevil).

  2. In addition to dream Diamond Guests Stallone or Schwarzenegger,

I would love to see the following

    regular guests:

    James Purefoy

    Mads Mikkelsen

    Ray Stevenson

    Tom Jane

    Dolph Lundgren

    Jonathan Frakes

    Lou Ferrigno

    Olivia Thirlby

    Bryan Fuller

    Adam West
    Burt Ward
    Yvonne Craig

    Burt Kwouk

    and comic guests:

    Jim Starlin

    Roy Thomas

    Gerry Conway

    Jock

    Tim Bradstreet

  3. So far, I have always made due with regular entry tickets. With proper timing and planning, I have gotten to meet all the big guests I wanted to meet, so have no current plans of going for any Gold or Platinum passes for the future either.

However, there are some names, exceedingly few, but some, that I would happily shell out multiple hundreds of punds for a Diamond ticket for. These names include

    Arnold Schwarzenegger

    Sylvester Stallone

I'd plan all year around the event if you could get one of those two.

  4. Hi, I'm thinking of attending DST and have a question, will the guests sign non-Star Trek items if I bring my own?

Guests are happy to sign non-Star Trek stuff, and I'd be shocked if the orinaziers clamped down on that.

If this is anything like the previous two events, you really should bring your own items to have signed anyway, as there won't be any free pictures at the guests table.

If you don't bring anything to have signed, you have to buy the official pictures there, which are only Star Trek pictures.

My first and foremost reason for going is to have Karl Urban sign the Dredd poster I already had John Wagner and Lena Heady sign in London last weekend.

  5. It looks like it will be the same ordeal as it was in Frankfurt, no VQ tickets there either, just get in line.

It worked there, because even for the most popular guests, the queue never actually reached the stalls on the opposite ends (at least not that I saw), but as there could easily be three times as many here as in Frankfurt, I do imagine the Autograpgh queues might be a problem...

  6.

Who was the crew member at the YALC area on Sunday afternoon, wearing doc martens boots, who helped me with my query?

The lovely girl queue managing at Stan Lee's Friday early signing??

    She made my weekend!

Haha, the first one's definitely me (glad I could help!), the second one's either me or one of the other lovely ladies in the area across the afternoon. I was the one with the pink lanyard and not in a crew shirt, because I was actually at the venue early to do something else and got distracted...

    You did great!

And your sunny disposition made waiting in line much more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been

  7. Of the ones I met, the real standaouts were:

    - John Wagner: Such an awesome, sweet, gentle man. Had a long chat with him, discussed hos work and their movie adapations.

    - Guy Siner: A true gentlemen. Met him once before, years ago, which he remebered after being given a few hints. The girl from Showmasters there was also really sweet and friendly, and remebered me next day. Kudos to you, if you see this. Even if you remembered mine, I am embarrased and sorry to say I did not remembers yours.

  8. I had the same negative experience.

I know perfectly well that the guests are only humans too, they may be jet lagged, tired, fed up or otherwise just not into it.

But Biehn was a whole different level.

I was one of the first that met him on Saturday, after he showed up late. It wasn't so much that he bdidn't aknowledge me, that is to be expected from a popular guest pressed for time, but his belittling and condesending complete and total dismissal, as if I and everyone before and after me were insects, petty annoyances whose presence were unwanted.

I had him sign a Terminator Blu-ray cover, and he didn't even't do so with a gray pen. Not even sure I want that cover now, only looks ugly with those thick black unreadable squibbles, like someone dropped a black marker there rather than a signature.

Worst guest I ever met bar none.

  9. Can't blame Showmasters on this one, they did everything to make as many as possibly meet Stan Lee, but they can't do anything about a 91 year olds stamina.

I had a Friday preview ticket and a Staurday Early bird ticket, and honestly, I was fully expecting this to be INSUFFICIENT to meet Stan, and had already resigned to this. If I really, really needed to see Stan, I would have gotten a gold pass, as a knew that for all intents and purposes would be the only way.

That Showmasters then announced a pre-event signing of Friday was a huge bonus and something I did not expect, and that is what allowed me to meet him after all.

Thank you Showmasters for making it possible.

  10. Brief retelling of my weekend!

Me and my friend left from Oslo, Norway early Friday morning, and landed in Frankfurt around noon.

By 13:40, we had arrived to the city center, checked into the hotel, made our way to Messe, and were standing in line to get in.

A few hours later, I had gotten everything I came for: Signed custom made and printed Blu-ray covers of Dredd, Re-Animator, and various Star Trek covers.

Very happy with the day, we called it the night a few hours later, and checked out the Frankfurt nightlife.

Saturday we also checked out Frankfurt attractions, before returning to DSTG on Sunday, as I had decided I needed an autographed picture of Karl Urban to wallmount, which I got, before going to airport and back home again. No photoshoots and only free talks for me, already spent a fortune or autographs.

All in all, a great weekend, had a blast both in and out of the convention:-)

    The good:

    - The entrance into the convention area itself was excellent, what with the 2009 theme music and the wall to wall decoration of the new retrostyle posters by that artist whose name escapes me.

    - Better food than at DSTL

    - Better internal layout than at DSTL

    - Using plastic coins rather than cash for autographs

    The bad:

    - I couldn’t pay for the above plastic coins with either VISA or Mastercard?!? Only Maestro??? What the hell, it’s 2014, get with the program!!!

    - No virtual tickets? Granted, I had no real need, but still, no virtual tickets?

    - Single file entry to the convention hall???

Also, I do bemoan that there was only official Star Trek merchandise. I would have been nice to have some other stuff, maybe some none Star Trek pictures. According to karl Urban, I was apparantly far from the only one who wanted a Judge Dredd quote on my McCoy picture :P

But all in all, a damn good time. Bring on the next DSTsomewhere.
