  1. People have scoffed at this accusation and I am not in a position to comment whether or not I think its true or untrue. What I would say though is there are some of you that have said that you are not suprised at this cancellation. This would indicate some peoples feelings are that they were not fully expecting him to attend anyway which seems a bit dubious.

Yes, they were not surprised due to the publicist stuff etc.

Howie suggests Showmasters waited for people to buy tickets before announcing a Nighy cancellation, but how would they know who is buying an entry ticket based on Nighy's attendance exactly? :headscratch:

    Entirely my point.................?

  2. I don't think he was ever going to attend as his publicist denied him coming months ago.sm waited until people had spent money on tickets for him then announced his'cancellation'and pretending they only just found out about it...I also became suspicious when I saw he did not have an alloted day/days!

I dont really care, id love to have met him but at the same time i have not spent money on tickets as yet. I can see who is attending and make a decision later.

  3. That saves me a wedge of cash so maybe not a bad thing..........................

Dom and Patrick still going so it not a disaster lol

    and so its started

You basically said that in another cancellation topic?

"Just looking at the list of those who have cancelled, on thier own they make a great line-up for a show, shows the calibre of guests that Showmasters are attracting these days!"

that previous post doesn't make any sense to me.

how can it be great getting these guests, when they don't attend...?

where's the 'getting them',as in 'attracting' coming from?

They've had Michael Biehn, Ray Park and Brent Spiner before, and they've got Zachary Quinto for the Heroes convention. Many cancelled guests in the past have made appearances at later events.

  4. The only thing I dislike about LFCC is that you have to pay for entry into the convention. On top of paying for autographs it seems a bit much to have to pay for entry tickets as well...it does make me a bit resentful. But I guess it helps keep showmasters in business, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

I agree about having that feeling but the bottom line is renting Earls Court costs money and someone has to pay for it..................so its understandable really i guess. Still feels too much for me and some though. I will be there however and have budgeted £250 all in for the event.

  5. well i hope you get to meet him someday superman he was very cool and polite to every one, was the nicest signer ive ever meet.

but to join in with everyone Helen slater please!!!!! and tom welling.

I think we got lucky with Brandon but hopefully we can get him back, missed him last time and he is always going to be a crowd puller.

  6. I read alot about Anthony Danials being awkward but I had met him with my other half about 4 times and he has always been really plesent.

I think he is a bit of a lovie though , likes things done how he wants them. But he always poses for photos

Daniels was great with me talked for about 5 mins or so. Posed for photos with the c3p0 and everything.

  7. Well, I love comic book comventions. And there's no doubt the LFACC is going to be fantastic. It's just I'm having some problems.

I don't really have much money. I think that by September I'll have about £100 at most. I would like autographs from Patrick Stewart (1), Nana Visitor (2) and a photo shoot with the latter on Sunday. I figure that's probably going to take up most of my money. I'd like some extra to do a little collectables shopping, to get some food etc. So if anybody has some really bright ideas on how to pull together lots of money between now and the 2nd, I'd be really grateful!

Michale Bhein cancelled. He was the reason my brother was going, and now that he's cancelled, I doubt that he'll be going now. Not really a problem as such, but it's still a huge bummer.

I volunteered to crew on the Sunday. Have you ever had that feeling when you walked into a room that you really belonged? Becuase that's how I felt when I went to my first convention a few years ago. I was surrounded by people with the same interests as me and where I wouldn't be mocked for it. It was then that I knew that I wanted to be part of the Showmaster's crew. But with what's been going on, I'm having second thoughts. I mean, I know I want to do it, but there's something lingering in the back of my mind that says "This isn't such a good idea" y'know?

I was just wondering if any of you guys have felt something like this before, and if you have any ideas. I'd be eternally grateful if you did.

    I can sympathise with you.

LFCC means you pay to get in and you pay for your autographs. Its not cheap. Half of me doesnt like paying for autographs the other half just thinks that unless the organisers put the show on then the guests would not be simply walking round the streets to bump into randomly to get an auto for free. Unfortunately your passion of collecting comes at a high cost. Some people would say if you dont want to pay then quite simply dont go, but when you want to pay but cant afford to its just a shame that the events cost so much money that its pricing people out. A bit like football matches these days.

If I were you id spend your money on getting an auto from the guests as you will always be able to look around for what collectibles you want. Who knows, find what you want and look for it on the net when you get back and can afford them, you may get it cheaper too!

The event does look good at the moment so im sure whoever you meet you will have a good time. As for making a quick buck between now and then, if I knew that then id do it myself!! :D

  8. the acting was pretty pants. but the light saber dual more than made up for most. i remember the first time darth maul stepped out with that double ended saber! classic!

im just worried bout getting new trilogy people on my old trilogy poster. or is that me being too picky :D

There is nothing, I repeat nothing classic about Phantom Menace it is just a steaming pile of cow dung.

  9. We regret to announce that Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc can no longer attend London Film and Comic Con. Michael recieved a job offer on Thursday, and after checking its dates has now learned that it will overlap the dates of his appearance for us. He is sorry that he has to let the fans down by not attending, but hopes to see everyone at a future show.

    ouch.............................

  10. The Globetrotter Inn is a hostel at £19 per night just outside Stamford Brook tube (about 5 stops and 15 mins from Earls Court). They do private rooms as well as dorms.

Ive located a company who still has a room at the Ibis, is £72.00 a reasonable rate for a room there??

  11. *cackles*

    Mary McDonnell

    Torri Higginson

    Natalia Tena

...and in that order because I already have Torri's once over. :crying: I didn't have a hard time choosing-- they're the only three I'm interested in getting! I'm not one of those people who only goes for the guests.

    Dominic

    Patrick

    Bill

closely followed by Michael and Louise

My God Im going to be broke!!!!!

  12. I'm pretty sure on one thing - Showmasters won't let people down on Lord of the Rings guests - they haven't in the past, have they?!

I got blasted for asking this quesion?? Glad you had the maturer ones respond.

I hope for some more guests soon. Want to go but need a couple more guests announced to convince me :)

  13. I don't see them doing this event again. A Glamour Model would ceertain pull in the crowds though

Yep that it would! Goes down a storm in birmingham though I bet the attendence would be 90% male :D

This event was the worst event so far. Just do what you are at LFCC and have a Music Zone, like youve done with Sports Zone. The guest line-up just wasnt there this time.

I am also the same poster that reckons LFCC will be the best event so far!! Cant wait.

  14. I thought the last of the minor Star Wars characters had been announced days ago?

We thought we had announced Mike back then, and just realised we'd left him off the announcements.

£15 for a stormtrooper who once saw Paul Simon, or £85 for Luke Skywalker?

I know what I think is more justified....

    lol

Where does it say he will be £15 ?

£10/£15 - it'll be one of the two. Either way, totally lacking in justification....

It could have been me or you in that scene.

Darth_Owl when was this guest ever going to be £15

stop trying to make something out of nothing mate and £10 is a fair price for this mans time, and if you do not want his autograph then just do not buy one, and please remeber some guests do come on here ok

    jason

Agreed. I would say though that by saying "for this mans time", almost feels that unless we pay £10.00 then we are not worthy of talking to him. Id like to think the £10.00 is more a fee for his autograph as opposed to feeling he would not normally give us the time of day unless we paid him.

  15. This is shaping up to be the best event in Showmasters history in my opinion.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease no cancellations. This event is looking fantastic.

Aspen you going? If so we meeting for a pint? And anyone else who wants to.

Any chance we can get Doms misses to come along too??

I base this on all the guests that are not in Star Wars by the way...........

  16. :uhoh: my point was that there were already half a dozen threads asking exactly the same thing !!

And by posting in the forum you are automatically asking us all - if you wanted to ask SMs exclusively, that's what email is for :P

The emails that never get answered you mean lol ^_^

  17. Oh good - ANOTHER one of these threads :dance::dance:

I was asking showmasters a question not you dufus but as another user recently said, some people feel compelled to comment on everything.......

Was only enquiring..................if thats allowed for gods sake.

    and davidb:

"They get announced when they get announced really."

    Really?? Didn't know that lol
