  1. 5am? That's a bit early isn't it. I always turn up at 8am and hour before it opens and have always seen all the guests I've wanted to meet. Even last LFCC I think I turned up at 8.15am (My friend delayed us) on the Saturday and had a good place in the queue and that one had Karen Gillan there, I didn't meet her but the point is I could have done and got a decent VQ ticket. My pet hate on here is when people say they are going to turn up at stupid o'clock which in turn causes panic and makes people think they won't get to meet the guest they want to if they don't turn up at that time too.

I completely agree. It really annoys me when people start that conversation. And the whole 5am thing is something i've never agreed with personally. I've been going to these for 8 years now and have NEVER missed out of meeting anyone I wanted to...and I've never turned up more than an hour before opening time. As well as that, last LFCC was my busiest, I was meeting 26 guests, and getting a further 18 photo shoots, as well as a paid for talk, and managed it all without the aid of a gold pass, or getting there are stupid o'clock. If you plan your day well, and things are organised and as planned by the organisers on the day, you can pretty much manage anything, well I have up to now anyways

Thats impressive todo that without a gold pass,

I agree actually, I got there to see Tennant at around 8am and was fine though I thought Id miss out getting there that late............ He was only there one day too so im sure a similar time should be ok for Anderson, even though im aiming for 7am this time lol

  2. Anyone see me walking round, had a blue shirt on from Inbetweeners that had the green badge "Hi My Name is Will stop me and say hello" lol

Went to meet Edward Furlong and he asked if my name was Will. I said no. He then signed my picture "To Will" realised ripped it up and tried again haha!!

  3. Pricey but if you have the money...................

I am torn between these cons now. Used to love autographica where you could at least talk to the guest. Remember talking with Buzz Aldrin when i paid over £100 to meet him and felt good value for money. The recent 2 years though seem to offer a less personalised experience to rush everyone through which for me is a shame.

As a customer its just the way i feel. As a busienss I get the reasons why.

  4. I agree with what Jason says about the low numbers being because there were not enough guests attending and the economy.

I was always going to come once Stirling Moss was announced but other shows where we had Buzz, Ursula, Blessed and other rarer guests like Harvey Stevens attend had that something extra.

I normally do enjoy the autographica shows far more than the other events but this time for me I treated it like Collectormania in the way I turned up, got my autos and left. The dealer tables didnt interest me. Still I have 4 autographs, 3 from striling, 1 from Ursula, and that was worth coming for.

People have to understand the current climate is difficult. I booked Keith Floyd for an event and sold out up in Wolverhampton but he fell ill and had to cancel. I can understand the frustration SM go through when people cancel, it didnt effect this event in particular but has with others in the past. The whole game isnt easy and just because people may have been disappointed at the lack of guests doesnt mean the next line-up wont be super!

Keep up the good work :P

  5. I'm really disappointed Sir Stirling Moss will be at Autographica.....Do you realise how much money I'm now going to be spending at the show?!!! :P:P:poki:

Absolutely amazing announcement, a true sporting icon. Well done SM.

    AWESOME, WILL BE COMING NOW!

  6. I and I know a load of other people were waiting for more guest announcements for this event. I would have attended if there had been another 2 or 3 Lost guests but for 1 guest i wasnt willing to commit the amount of money it would cost me to get there etc......... I understand there were not enough tickets sold but I wouldnt go to Alton Towers if there was only one ride either no matter how good it was.

In my opinion this could have worked! Ah well, bring on LFCC instead.

  7. It was the most blink-and-miss experience I've ever had meeting a guest (even when I've met celebs at totally chaotic film premieres it's been a longer experience) however I still found him to be warm and genuine, and he acknowledged me when I spoke to him. As over-before-I-knew-it as it was, I still came away satisfied and happy. :)

I fou d this experience as uninspiring as meeting Shatner................................rushed through, no chance to say anything and i couldnt even give him my photo. I spoke to the steward who took my photo more than the guest.......... I undertsand the need to get everyone through but the only positive was i now have an auto from him..............thats about it im afraid though.

  8. I take part of your point David, but I still believe that Lockdown and Lost guests generally are playing second fiddle to Heroes at the minute. Off the top of my head we've had seven Lost guests ever, and by C13 in the first week of May, we will have had 16 Heroes guests, plus two repeats (Pasdar and Takei) in a fraction of the time. I know selected fanbases have peaks and troughs, but until Heroes arrived Lost was the big thing ....

There is no guarantee that Eclipse and Lockdown will have the same NUMBER of guests, as guests will have different fees, and events will have different components, but surely Heroes guests are likely to be more expensive of teh two to book ?

We may not be paying to have guests announced in a particular timeframe, but there was once a little event called another show ....

It just frustrates me to see the last big fanbase overlooked in favour of the next one. I was rather proud of my Toy Story analogy !

I'm not going to preach on the fickleness of pop culture, but I stand by my point.

I wouldn’t say Lost in general is being ignored as it has its own con but Lockdown feels like it has been ignored.

:headscratch: Lost isn't ignored because it has an event, but the event is being ignored ???:headscratch:

Never thought id say this but I totally agree with you, the Toy story was pretty good

  9. At the moment we have 1 movie star surrounded by non movie guests. I think the balance should be more even to create a better event like the one where Brian Blessed and co were there. Awesome.

  10. Great post.

I agree with you three are a little too difficult to get probably.

Although I have put an event on for early next year and the guest is pretty old. I didnt expect the agent to agree to the performance but if you dont ask. You never know I guess but................

Now if you could get Kirk Douglas,

91 tomorrow, and as I understand it, still suffering from partial speech-impairment from a stroke 11 years ago.

    Doris Day,

83, and didn't attend the ceremony to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom (one of the two highest civilian awards in the US), a few years ago because of a fear of flying.

    Mickey Rooney

87, but at least he's still working ( I gather that he's due to play Baron Hardup in Cinderella, at the Sunderland Empire Theatre this Christmas panto season)

    Sophia Loren

she at least seems to be reasonably active, plus the only one of your requests under the age of 75

    and Charlton Heston... :YAHOO:

A similar age to Doris day, and if that's not enough of a problem, did you not see him interviewed by Michael Moore in Bowling for Columbine, filmed about 6 years ago? Did you miss his statement in 2002 that "his doctors had diagnosed him as having a "neurological disorder whose symptoms are consistent with Alzheimer's disease"."? Any reports on his health since have been that, unsurprisingly, he's getting worse, not better.

Three of your requests I'd say are utter fantasy. Maybe the warmth of north-eastern panto crowds this Christmas will persuade Mr Rooney to come along.

  11. It's not really the place to be asking, but you really have to take some responsibility for letting (I assume) a minor use the internet unsupervised, especially after 11pm as this was. Personally, I clicked last night to report the post, so hopefully it got flamed as soon as possible

Firstly, why do you comment on everything......................is your name Jason?

Secondly I didnt say he was a minor I said young........................meaning younger as Im 29 and hes 16. His bed time or when he surfs the net is also no issue for you either.

Thirdly if I want a lecture it would not be from you.

Its no wonder some people have issue with you sometimes.

  12. Im not sure you are aware or not of the material posted on this site the other evening but I was horrified to see my young brother stumble across it. If you are then you are fully aware of what was posted. It was deleted the same evening granted.

Just wondering if there is any way of securing the forums better like maybe reviewing posts with pictures before they go up or something.............maybe this is not do-able but im sure you can imagine how awkaward it was to see him looking at that!

Any thoughts.........? Im not getting at anyone apart from the fool who did it but it was pretty nasty stuff.

  13. I found some of the staff very bad mannered. I have been to expos around the country and have found them all functional and polite. I have MS and I have no outward disabilities I can walk etc. but some time I find it hard to speak.

James Marster's Had a P***k with a cockney accent on sunday.

I do not have a sign saying "I AM DISABLED" but that is not the point.

Teach your staff "Customer Services" it is your buisness best interests.

I live 2 miles away from Manchester Central. I feel I would rather travel to other places in the country for their expos Than feel humiliated by your staff

I was in the ailse next to James Marsters assisting with the Malcom MacDowell queue. There were 3 showmasters crew assisting with James. 1 at the start of the queue (he is South African - I think he is, he's definitly not cockney) 1 was assisting with getting photos to James guest assistant (who was not showmasters staff) and he's american. The other was lady helping taking cash, sat behind a desk about half way up the queue (no idea where she's from). All showmasters crew were wearing bright orange or red T shirts so they weren't going to be missed or mistaken. Plus they had badges with their names on. Anyone else helping with the James Marsters signing were not Showmasters crew but were with a 3rd party company (James's agents I believe)

As has been stated already, if you had a bad experience with the crew then it would been better if you raised it at the time. You can email Showmasters but specifics will be needed.

Thats rubbish. If someone feels humiliated then the last thing he is going to do is raise it at the time. THINK before you speak.

Did anyone else have an autograph of Malcolm McDowell where he had signed over the face on the picture? My brother asked a member of the crew if he could change this and was politely told only if you spend another £20. This was fair but the same crew member then went over to his mates and started calling my brother rotten. (I was in the queue for James at the time and heard them) - Moral of the story - be careful because you never know who is listening.

this is fair???? No its not really in my opinion. Its actually really unfair they wouldnt do that for you and take the old one off you.

  14. Hmmm... have to say that I'm not impressed with this announcement. Although Cov is only 45 minutes from me and easy for me to get to... the timing is awful! Showmasters have 6 events in 9 weeks! (and that's not including events run by other people!) I can't believe this is a good thing. A big part of their attendances are made up of regular attendees (like myself) and I feel that this level of saturation is going to severely restrict the number of events people can go to. So everyone will pick the 2 or 3 (maybe) most convenient for them and go to those. This will mean that average attendances for each event will go down... and if attendances go down, then the number/quality of guests will suffer.

Yeh a big group of us should get together and organise our own event lol.Itd be interesting.

and esily do-able i might add.

Only if you had the right contacts and funds to pay guests an amount up front. Do-able... probably... easily? No way!

Contacts are easy................im sure you could if you put your mind to it! There is a very accessible way of doing this for loads of guests.

Also ticket sales pays for the guest. Payment is not always needed until 2 weeks or so before an event, at which time tickets are sold to pay for them. Not saying this is how SM do it, but its how some do!

But this is all hyperthetical so no point speculating really.

  15. Was hoping for an event in Wales as we have to travel for about 3 or more hours to get to any of the signings. Nevermind, Coventry is only about three hours away. Look forward to guest announcements soon.

you could always set up an event in wales yourself................

contact a few agents, book a venue, build a basic website. and sell the tickets..............?? If you want to that is!

    Sounds simple doesnt it :o

Ive done a similar thing for next year with only 1 guest and thats enough organising in itself.

  16. Only met 4 peeps today and got photos with 3 of them. Got to go back tomorrow to get McDowell's auto on my Heroes poster. I couldn't believe Adrian had an Open Q! Madness! Peter Mayhew was abit ignorant, but Kenny Baker more than made up for it. Had a good 20 minute conversation with the legend. Craig Charles was drinking something that I now want because he was well hyper! ;) Chris Barrie was a true gentleman and I got in trouble for asking for his website details? ;) Oh well. Weren't as many stalls as the last one, did anyone get an empty feeling? Maybe its the calm before the storm that will be James Marsters' fan base tomorrow!

Anyways enough ranting heres my 3 of the day hopefully more tomorrow :(

    Enjoy!

    J.

Who are the people with Austin Powers lol :D

  17. EVERYONE MISS ME. the return of EL INDIO

I must say some of what you say I agree with but other stuff you wont get away with on the boards.

You seem to fall out with 1 member in particular all the time. I can see why but try not to get banned by slagging him off, just ignore the comments he makes as he will argue and pick fault no matter what.

  18. Look at you all wetting yourselves at the thought of one of these television ' stars ' lol.I hope its another movie star just to see how you all react.

I watch films too, just not as much as TV

How about Alan Rickman, Jason Isaacs, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp and I'd say freddy Kruger but I met him once.

Due to the unfortunate injury to Christopher Lee's leg, maybe it would be possible to reschedule his appearance as im sure its better by now? He would be a great guest and if he was up for it before then surely he would be again? :YAHOO:
