  1. Autographica prides itself on getting first time guests, but its also good to have some favourites back from previous shows if they haven't been for awhile. From previous shows I'd like Kevin McCarthy: brilliant guest, last at Autographica in 2001. Got to have him back. Sir Patrick Moore: we'd all like to see him at the show again, even if he can't sign now (and he's as big a fan as us with the space guests) Pete Best: very cool to meet an original Beatle Millvina Dean: always one of the most popular guests. To meet someone who was actually on board the Titanic is like stepping into history.
  2. More Hammer actors would be good. And couldn't agree more about Raquel Welch.
  3. I'd like to see this happen as well. I don't think we've had a NASA full crew reunion at Autographica yet, so it would be a first which is something Autographica like to do.
  4. 3 great ideas. Ray has done in store signings in recent years and has done US shows. I saw him do his talk twice a few years ago and he's great. Rick has done shows abroad but I don't think he's done any in UK that I can remember. Nick could be hard to get, but he'd be great. His talks are excellent.
  5. I agree, any of those would be great. I'm surprised no show has had Patrick MacNee yet, as far as I know. He'd surely be very popular and I'd love to meet him. Honor did a past Collectormania but I'd like to see her back. Diana Rigg could be a hard one to get - maybe a stage door after one of her plays is only option there. But if they could get her I'd be thrilled. Linda Thorson has done UK shows so maybe will again. Patrick McGoohan - one of the main people I'd most like to meet. However, probably going to be very hard to get him. I think I'm right in saying he's never even been to the shows official con. If SM or Autographica could get him it would be amazing. He'd be very popular and people would travel just to see him. Ken Cope has done UK shows and he is really great to meet, so he'd be good to have. Annette Andre - great suggestion. She'd be good to meet. Peter Wyngarde - what a legend. It'd be great to meet him. Martin Landau - fantastic guest to get. Space 1999 has lots of fans (as do all of Gerry Andersons great shows), and classic film fans like me also like him because of North by Northwest (and he was also friends with James Dean). So he's got lots of film and tv history to talk about. And The Champions guests would be good too. Some of these type of guests would probably fit in more at Autographica, but seeing them at any of the SM shows or Autographica would be great.
  6. To my eyes he seemed to be by far the most popular guest when he came last time. Had a Q for all of the time I was there, and yet still took time with each fan. SM know that he was very popular - and that he got brilliant reactions on these boards from people who met him. So even if people don't post in this thread I'm sure SM would like to get him back for a future show if it was possible. Lets hope it happens. (I'm still shocked they got him at all, amazing).
  7. Great guest. Wanted to meet her for ages. Classic Trek is by far my favourite Trek. Thanks for getting her.
  8. Two more classic Disney voice actors -- Peter Behn - voice of Thumper in Bambi Ilene Woods - voice of Cinderella Some other voice actors -- Arnold Stang - voice of Top Cat Gerry Johnson - voice of Betty Rubble in Flintstones, 1964 to 66 Casey Kasem - voice of Shaggy in Scooby Doo Frank Welker - voice of Fred in Scooby Doo, and voice in many many other animations Nicole Jaffe - voice of Velma in Scooby Doo Heather North - voice of Daphne in Scooby Doo from 1970 to now Janet Waldo - voice of Penelope Pitstop and many others Obviously any of the Simpsons cast would be great And some from the history of British animation -- Michael Bond (creator of Paddington) Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate (The Clangers, Bagpuss, Ivor the Engine, Noggin the Nog) David McKee (creator of Mr Benn) Ray Brooks (narrator of Mr Benn and King Rollo. Plays Joe Macer in Eastenders) Gordon Murray (Captain Pugwash, Trumpton, Camberwick Green, Chigley) Brian Cant (kids tv legend, and voice on Trumpton, Camberwick Green, Chigley) Tony Hart (kids tv legend, Vision On, Take Hart and Morph) Bob Godfrey (Roobarb/Roobarb and Custard ) Elisabeth Beresford (Wombles creator) Bernard Cribbins (Wombles voices) Mike Batt (Wombles music) Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall (Cosgrove-Hall. Danger Mouse, Count Duckula, Chorlton and the Wheelies, Jamie and the Magic Torch and many others) Ray Harryhausen (all round legend. Hes done in store signings)
  9. Thats right. If you've not been to Autographica before you'll be very pleasantly surprised how its a lot easier to talk to the guests than at other shows. Theres none of the 'hurry along now' feeling. You come away from the show feeling like you've genuinely met the guest rather than just passed by for a moment. Thats why its my favourite show, and that has always been the goal of Dave and Garry, the organisers. To make it different from other shows, and to really ensure we all enjoy it. They do a great job with that.
  10. Animation collecting is big now, and having met Cammie King (voice of Faline in Bambi) at Autographica it would be nice to meet some more guests from the history of animation. Some ideas -- Albert Uderzo (Asterix co creator) Joseph Barbera (Hanna-Barbera) David H. DePatie (DePatie-Freleng, producers of many animations inc Pink Panther) Stan Lee (comics and animation) Disney voice actors -- Kathryn Beaumont (voice of Alice in Alice in Wonderland, and voice of Wendy in Peter Pan) Dickie Jones (voice of Pinocchio, and voice of Jim Crow in Dumbo) Mary Costa (voice of Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty) Bruce Reitherman (voice of Mowgli in The Jungle Book)
  11. Thats exactly how he was with me too. I've never talked to any other guest for as long. It was like having a personal audience with him. Very cool guy.
  12. Thats right, he mentioned that when I met him. We're lucky to have him at UK events.
  13. Update - I thought Mickey Rooney had attended a US signing show and it turns out that he did, in July this year. And Jane Russell is doing another one in US soon, in November. So some of these legends are willing to come to shows.
  14. Met him at Autographica in 2002 and he was brilliant to meet. Really nice guy. And he doesn't do many shows so it'll be good to see him again.
  15. Maybe, but Autographica have had quite a few older guests, most notably Sir John Mills and Titanic survivor Milvina Dean. Both appeared in their 90s. Of course, not everyone could be such a trooper with signing like Milvina is, but even if an older guest could only do a signing for a short time, or failing that, a talk or a pro photo session, then I'm sure we'd all understand. It would be good just to see some of the older ones who are still with us. And yeah, I love The Ladykillers too. What a great movie. Alec's teeth lol. And Sellers and Lom together years before Pink Panther. A true classic for all time.
  16. Thats funny - I was going to add him to either this thread or the Pink Panther one today. Couldn't believe I'd forgot to list him. So thanks for that. He'd be a great guest. I met all of those too. (I've been at every Autographica apart from the 1st one). And those guests were amongst my favourites. I guess thats what got me thinking of having some more like that. I'm glad Olivia de Havilland would be popular. As we all know, GWTW is the biggest film ever in terms of bums on seats, so she'd be an amazing guest. As you say, once shes gone there won't be any of the main cast left. And its probably only Autographica who could get her. I really hope they try to make it happen. A few more ideas - Deborah Kerr Esther Williams Tony Curtis Yvonne De Carlo I would suggest Charlton Heston and Kirk Douglas, but I don't know if their health would make it possible, but if they could then they'd obviously be great guests. And I definitely agree with Sophia Loren and Red Buttons too.
  17. I'd like to see a few more Classic Hollywood stars. Obviously its not easy to get the big legends, but from the ones who could be a possibility, who would everyone like to see from the golden era of Hollywood at Autographica? Some suggestions that I'd make -- Jane Russell Debbie Reynolds (both of those have done signing shows in US) Mickey Rooney (I think he's done US signings too) Lauren Bacall (she did a London book signing this year, so maybe a possibility) Doris Day James Garner Olivia de Havilland (she lives in Paris I think, so not too far to come) Glenn Ford Richard Widmark (he did a talk in London a couple of years ago, so he's still doing events) Jean Simmons Kim Novak Eva Marie Saint Ernest Borgnine Joey Bishop (the only surviving member of the Rat Pack) Eli Wallach And any of the surviving cast members from Wizard of Oz (like Meinhardt Raabe who has done US shows), and Gone With the Wind (Cammie King was great to meet at Autographica in May 2003, so any of the other surviving cast would be good to see too). Vera Miles (Lila Crane in Psycho), and Hitchcock's daughter Patricia Hitchcock would be great too. And I've always wanted to meet Peter Falk. Getting one or two big legends at the show would really be good. And Autographica is the show that would appeal to these stars. Meeting Sir John Mills was amazing in 2003, and only Autographica got him, so maybe they could do the same for some of the other legends of cinema history.
  18. Definitely a yes. I've wanted him to be at a show for awhile, so its a shame he's not now coming to C8.
  19. Definitely like to see him back. He's the best guest that I've met at any show. Very kind and genuinely was interested in meeting his fans. A true legend both onscreen and in person too.
  20. Yeah, exactly. Its surprising he's not been at any shows yet as far as I can remember. And having the two of them together would make sense. I think they'd fit in well with the Autographica style of guests and relaxed atmosphere. I think lots of people would want to get both autographs on one item.
  21. Burt Kwouk and Herbert Lom together would be good. I think they share the same agent so maybe it could happen. Burts also good for Bond fans, and Herbert Lom also appeals to collectors of classic British comedies due to The Ladykillers. He's the only surviving member of the main cast of The Ladykillers now. He'll be 88 this month. Having them together signing, and maybe doing a talk, would be something that I don't think any other show has done.
  22. They'd be great. And judging from past guests Autographica could be the event that makes it happen.
  23. Bond guests I'd like to see at Autographica -- Clifton James (Sherrif J.W Pepper in Live and Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun) - one of my fave Bond actors ever. He's 84 now. Guy Hamilton (director of Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun). He'll be 83 this month. Lewis Gilbert (director of You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker). He's 85 now. Nikki van der Zyl (voice of the Bond girls in lots of the early films) Burt Kwouk (Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice) Lois Maxwell - can any show get her? I think she lives in Australia now so I guess its not easy, but she would obviously be very popular, and a good one for Autographica. Ursula Andress - again, can any show get her? Hope so. Definitely would be one of the most popular Bond guests ever. and a return visit from Gloria Hendry (Rosie Carver in Live and Let Die) Lets hope its going to be a great Bond line up
