  1. For me, Diana Muldaur alone was a reason to buy a ticket. I sure hope that this event won't get cancelled, but I'm started to get really worried (I've bought plane tickets and everything).

That's unfortunate. I guess coming from abroad means booking a flight well in advance. Presumably you haven't booked the flight this past week...? I've attended Conventions abroad before and its always risky when you're only interested in one guest, who might cancel. Or the organisers might postpone/cancel the event altogether...

  2. You started it :WINCE:

But anyways, I think this week we'll get something. Probably party themes.

I think maybe having so many awesome Trek guests at other events this year has hindered them for this event though. Maybe a lot of the guests only like coming all the way over here once a year or something.

Ah, ya got me there :D

Careful BK88, you'll get censured for going off topic.

    No, he won't.

Thank you for that superfluous inciteful comment

  3. Never assume no news is good news. Am already looking for something else to do first weekend in November based upon information from a reliable source.

Please don't be quoting from 'sources' as you'll only panic people. The ONLY update anyone should listen to is from Massive Events themselves if/when they post.

Not trying to panic anyone, just saying that I'm looking at alternative things to do that weekend.

  4. I am confident (can also be known as naive :P ). We have not seen a 'low ticket sales' thread yet so I would assume all is well.

As for lack of party themes. I am sort of glad as I have not been able to locate a Starfleet uniform provider yet. The 'stretchy' TNG uniform purchased 16 years ago does not stretch far enough to accomdoate the passage of time :D !!

Guest for something like Trek should not be that hard to get hold of, as they have two semi main crew going, (I say that in the sense that they were not main crew for a whole run of a series)

Yes they get booked months even years in advance, but there are so many other guests out there that did not play one of the main crew that Im sure showmasters could find one or two of? (Yeah maybe its not as easy as I make it out to be but you get my point)

What about the person who played Nurse Ogawa or someone like J Paul Boehmer the 29th century Borg named One, or what about some of the people who played the Genetically enhanced humans the Julian meets on DS9, there are others but you get my point I hope?

Availablity aside, the Trek franchise has probably got one of the largest pool of potential guests to draw up on. A lot of episodes have at least one or two supporting cast/guest stars that would be great to see. Some have more. In theory with the right attendance figures this convention could run for a long time.

I am already planning for Warp 10.2....or possibly Warp 11.

    Edit: **nudge** - a small bump :D

  5. The 'they are at a con' "excuse" does fit to be fair. I didnt mean they wernt working on the con, I meant we wont get any announcments on here during other events as there is no one in the offices to post them/chase up contracts/receive signed ones/contact agents.

They are way too busy keeping the current event running smoothly for the attendees actually there.

Now though, totally on side with you guys in here. No events happening for a good few weeks so plenty of time to get some stuff sorted and organised for this event and announcments made. Whatever they are.

    Hope for something soon.

Your faith that something positive will be announced is admirable.

  6. I still dont know whether to get another uniform...or whetehr I can afford another uniform lol

Might just get a TOS-style t-shirt...red of course lol

If you're buying a uniform just for this event, you might want to save your pennies...

Why? What do you know that the rest of us don't?

It wouldn't surprise me if an announcement were imminent

  8. The reason is that Jennifer is painfully shy its not boredom she's actually too nervous to talk. I assume you were there in Vegas but for those that weren't she was on stage with several other Voyager cast members, she sat on the far left and barely looked up. That was with both Bob and John on stage with her (the two cast members she worked most closely with).

Her signing wasn't at the back of stage (the way the rest were) because like Jeri she wanted/needed a little more protection to feel comfortable.

Unless SM/ME get another Voyager memer (ideally John or Bob) to be with her I doubt very much she'll feel comfortable enough on stage to talk much.

I saw her in Vegas and her signing time was to the rear of the stage on the right hand side with the other Voyager actors. She was first up, sitting to the left of Scarlett Pomers.

John from Voyager? Not sure who you're thinking of...

  9. If she wants to do a talk... she was very quiet in Vegas this year and I barely recognised her. She seemed to be very nice, though

She was fine if you actually engaged in conversation with her which I was lucky enough to do, but seemed quite bored, almost disinterested during the photo shoots and autographs. She didn't say much during the on stage talk either...

  10. This is a little worrying as we seem to have a bit of a chicken and egg situation.

People are holding back to see what guests are announced and hoping for a "big one" but the lack of ticket sales would mean that those guests that people are waiting for cannot be booked.

Normally I would wait with the rest, but have bought my tickets now to try and do my part in helping the organisers secure more guests.

Diana Muldaur is the main draw for me so far, but as she has already cancelled once, I'm not pinning my hopes on her.

Anyone from the new trek film would be good for me as well.

As much as I love supporting events in this country, looks like I'll have to sacrifice attending this event in favour of one where more than 70 Trek actors have been announced :)

  11. Saw Sir Patrick on Sunday. Open queue around 11.30am. Said hello and asked as it was more "relaxed", would he mind personalising the photo for me, which is did. Spoke about performing Ibsen on stage and went away happy!

:( I asked about personalisations on both days and was told he wasn't ;) .

Sorry about that dude. There were no signs up saying no personalisations and no-one behind me in the line when I asked - so I didn't feel like I was holding anyone up.

  12. but I get the impression that they are going for a specific Danger UXB theme with this event which he does fit into.

I for one will not complain about that!! *cough Judy Geeson please* :D

As I remember, Judy Geeson now lives permanently in the US. I think that's what she told us when we met her last year

  13. Really?! damn I was hoping she'd at least turn up to something X-Files related as I missed her & David signing stuff for IWTB at Forbidden Planet in 2008

That's been her policy for a while now, don't know why. Not sure that you missed Gillian and David - Chris Carter and FRank Spotnitz were the ones signing at Forbidden Planet! Unless I missed something which would make me very grumpy...

  14. doesnt gillian live in london?

id kill for a shoot with her and david together or seperate

Yes she does, and in recent times has developed an aversion to signing anything X-Files related, which is curious... Its not often you get a chance to have a picture with her either - this one was taken at a charity event. I don't think she smiled in pictures with with anyone that day, despite the huge ticket price! All for a good cause though...

  15. I was just wandering whether Showmasters would ever be willing to set up an X-Files con? I mean it's not like it's a new idea or anything...

...the last UK X-Files con I'm aware of was back in the 90's and there's cons for it in both Germany and the states *I think* but so far, nothing over here

Anyways I was just wandering whether anyone else would like to see one, or is it a complete waste of time?

    Thanks for reading :D

I would attend! Whether an event were viable would I guess depend on the calibre of the guests. I'd like to see Nick Lea and Steven Williams at a UK event.

As I understand, the German Con had to cancel two of its main guests (2 of The Lone Gunmen) due to low ticket sales.
