  1. I also think that as the Sunday was so quiet (and from what I hear, the Saturday had been quite busy) is it worth trying to get a big person to do Sunday as well? I found it particularly quiet, enough that I could let my little Pikachu run around (not in an annoying way I hope).

And in general there seemed a lot less stalls so having it as the same cost at LFCC (which was in esscence twice as big) seemed a bit of a bummer, especially as we only got in an hour before the normal tickets in the end.

For me, both these points are actually a positive. The fact that it was so quiet on Sunday made the whole experience so much more enjoyable for me. There were no crowds, so you could actually walk about without getting crushed, I could view the stalls without having to peer over people's shoulders, and the fact that there were not as many guests that I wanted to meet meant that I was not rushing around and worrying about getting everything done in time. I was able to talk to each guest instead of just being ushered along. I found the whole experience much more enjoyable. In my opinion, it is one of the best I've been to in the last few years, simply because there was a quieter atmosphere.

  2. I got 2 t-shirts from a guy who was selling 2 for £20, a Walking Dead one and a Stark Industries one. Also bought my friend a Vampire Diaries mug as a thank you as she was looking after my 6 horses while I was in London for the weekend. I fell in love with the stall that was selling the very original glass cases with figurines and artwork, some of them were brilliant but rather expensive or else I would have bought them all! Also loved the original Walking Dead artwork that was in 3 posters for £100 but again, too expensive! I also lusted after the Walking Dead & Iron Man custom painted converse shoes...there is a running theme here lol...

Was a bit shocked to see a stand selling Walking Dead figurines for the normal price of 14.99 for the Rick & 2 walker dolls...but they wanted £34.99 for the Daryl one! What a rip off!

There was one stall selling Star Trek Voyager action figures for £25, while at another stall they were being sold at £3. Granted, the more expensive ones were still in their packaging, and the others werent, but it is a big discrepancy. Just goes to show, it pays to shop around.

  3. I didn't have time to look at the stalls. Seriously. I was there all 3 days and the only time I even saw the stalls was going from one side of the hall to another for autos or photos. :(

I was just there on the Saturday, and only had a short time to look around the stalls too. I did get a few things though. Two signed Stargate trading cards and one Charmed costume trading card. I also found two Star Trek Voyager action figures.

  4. I am disappointed that no one has answered my question. I got tired of waiting and just emailed ticket enquiries. I'll wait and see what they say.

That would probably be because Showmasters were still out of the office. Unfortunately the mods can not answer this and we have also been waiting for confirmation on how to proceed.

If you have e-mailed info@showmastersonline.com you have gone the right way for your enquiry. Did you go and ask at the Organisers Booth at the event? Next time anything like this happens (fingers crossed it does not) please go that route, it is the quickest way for sure.

    Ah, okay, thank you that.

  5. It seems odd that this question was asked and has not been answered. Is someone from Showmasters going to explain how we can get a refund for talks that were significantly shorter than advertised, or that were inaudible? It ought to go without saying that a talk should be audible. It could have been made audible in many ways; the most obvious being to move all the seats nearer, and not reserve four or five rows at the front for people who weren't coming: if people can see the lips of a speaker they're far more likely to be able to hear despite lousy accoustics. I don't know what could be done about the accoustics, but I know that when I went to the talk at last year's LFCC that Karren Gillian did, I heard every word.

But regardless of why we couldn't hear, lots of us couldn't hear somethign we'd paid to be able to hear. It would help if someone were to explain how a refund could be arranged.

  6. I was so pleased to see that Crash Bandicoot for the PS1 was at the gaming area; it is my all time favourite game. Unfortunately I had so much going on that I did not have time to play.

I haven't any specific racing games to recommend, but I have personally always preferred cartoony racing games with power ups as apposed to real racing car games.

  7. I was looking forward to seeing the X-Files auction, but after Gillian's talk, I was told that it had been moved to earlier in the day. There had been no announcement for this, so I missed it. Quite peeved. But for those who did go, how was it? Tell me what goodies I missed.

I did wonder about this as nothing was said at the talk. Didn't know, not that I'd have been able to afford anything. Thought the prop display was incredibly poor too unless I missed something.

I didn't even find the prop display.

The X-Files Auction was part of the General Auction they had, at one point I wasn't going to go to the Auction until my Friend who'd been studying the programme or something said that there was X-Files stuff and I thought "Wow. This was supposed to be after the Gillian Anderson talk, so I went along purely for X-Files."

If I hadn't of been on such a tight budget I would have bidded more for the X-Files pieces:

    David Duchovny suit.

    I Want To Believe Poster.

    Film Cells.

    The other X-Files pieces were:

    Robert Patrick Autograph.

    William B Davis Autograph.

There were general items like cast shots of other shows, etc etc.but it was only X-Files items that literally had me on the edge of my seat.

Afterwards I did approach Jason about why it was moved and he told me it was to do with how different Guests had been moved around or something.

Is that the only X-Files stuff they had? Do you know if the poster was the original prop or just a replica?

I was told the time was changed to give Gillian more talk time, which is ludicrous seeing as it started ten minutes late and finished five minutes early.

i got the film cells. They all had price tags on them, added up to less than i paid lol. The auction was utter pants frankly, total utter pants. Except for the suit, everything was on sale in the stores, and almost certainly for cheaper. I was very much expecting some more unique items that they would have been able to procure due to organising this event.

The first auction I went to had a lot of good stuff, but ever since then, they have been pretty rubbish, just selling t-shirts, mugs, and a few autographs you can get at the dealers' stalls.

Ok I don't feel so peed off now about missing the X-Files Auction anymore as by the sounds of it i already have most the stuff that was on offer!

I also feel better. I would have liked to have seen David's suit, but I never would be able to bid on something like that.

  9. The Gillian talk I could hardly hear the questions or answers. Must have been the same for others as she was asked the same question 4 times.

Waste of £25. Won't be paying for talks again.

I have really been put off buying future talk tickets.

I just hope it's not like that at Destination.

There were no problems hearing the talks at CE a few years back at CE which was also held at the Excel Centre so I would be hopeful there will be no similar issues with the ST event.

Have to say this problem with the sound at the talks does seem to be another recurring issue, I can remember being at one at Earls Court a couple of years ago which rapidly descended into farce, people were just standing up at random and asking questions while the speaker on stage was still answering another one (not out of rudeness I think they genuinely didnt realise the person was still speaking because of the background noise) then someone appeared up on stage and started waving a sword about (I think it was all part of the show but it was very odd either way!)

Problem is aside from hiring a second venue for the talks which presumably would cause a whole set of other problems, I'm not sure if anything can realistically be done about it.

The sound has been an issue before, but I have never found it bad enough to complain about before. This time, however, I really think it was beyond a joke. What gets me is, that there were loud speakers in there and they weren't used.

  10. I always appreciate the efforts of showmasters, so I want to first say thank you for getting such fantastic guests. I think the queuing system for Gillian Anderson and Jeri Ryan, and the talks was very good and ran smoothly. Gillian's presence, however, made for a huge number of visitors, and I think you were overwhelmed by how busy it was, and that did cause a few problems, especially with entry on Saturday morning. Here is my feedback, and I hope it is helpful and constructive:

    1. Entry

There is no kind way to put it; it was absolute chaos. There must have been at least three different lines for pre-paid early bird entry at one point. We started up in a long queue that went all the way down to Pizza Express, then that queue seemed to be sent all the way back down to the entrance to join another queue - but it was so squashed that there was no queue, just a crowd of people. That crowd got even bigger, when new arrivals got off the train at 9am and just integrated themselves into the people who had been standing waiting for a good long while. The queue finally took the shape of a snake, but by the time I had turned about 4 lines, the entire queue turned round so that all the people who were at the back of the queue were at the front of the entrance. I think what needs to be done is there to be barriers to mark the direction of queue, so people don't end up jumping the queue (which is mostly accidental) or losing their place.

    2. Talks

The sound was just terrible. The microphones didn't work half the time, and there were speakers in the talk area, but they were never used. I couldn't hear half the talks I paid for. Also, there were far too many rows dedicated to gold pass users. I get that you have to make sure you have enough for every gold pass holder, but not every gold pass holder is going to go to every talk. It leaves rows of empty seats which other people could use, but are not allowed, which is ridiculous. I think the way to get around this, is instead of having gold pass holder seats, you should just let the gold pass holders in first. Call them from the queue, let them sit where they want, and then allow the rest in.

  11. I thought the talks were very bad value for money this year. The sound quality was terrible. My dad and I spent £80 for five talks can could not hear a thing in most of them.

There were loud speakers all the way around the room, but they were not used; the microphones kept breaking down, and even when they did work, there was a horrible echo.

If you can't hear what is being said, then we are not being given what we paid for, and I think it is reasonable to expect a refund. How would we go about doing this?
