Sorry, I know this doesn't really help. The extra Help team will get back to you as soon as they can and provide you with those details.

When did they submit the form for extra help?

    Hi Queen_Sindel,thanks for the reply!

She sent the form a couple of weeks ago,and she's been told just to go to the info desk when she gets in and they will have her details and give her the wristband.. just fretting about whether she'd need to queue somewhere different to us to get in,and whether she'd need a reference number or anything for the wristband! I'm sure as long as she brings the disability documents etc all will be well!

    Cheers :)

  2. Hey all,

Apologies if this has already been posted/answered elsewhere and i've missed it!

So..i'm bringing my mom and her partner to Collectormania this year, and she is literally the momma of all overthinking/flapping/planning and stressing.

Her partner is disabled and it's the first time for both of them attending any event like this. They've applied for the extra help wristband but not heard back yet, just wondering if anyone could give me any info on where to collect this? Do they collect before doors open or once they're inside, and will they have to queue separately? (do i have to leave her unsupervised..?!)

I've been to collectormania before but it's my first time with a disabled visitor,so any help at all muchly appreciated! Just want them to have an awesome day and keep any flapping to a minimum!

    Cheers in advance :)

  3. I am terrible with names/faces, especially when I am excited and/or stressed (I will be both), so if I wander past anyone and seemingly ignore you, just grab me or something. Not literally. I'll scream. But yeah, if I don't recognize you first then just assume I'm distracted.

Potato sacks are never not in fashion. Can't go wrong.

Attire/cosplay question though! Does anybody know where I can get small red buckle straps to go around my arms? That's a terrible way of describing them, I know, but I have no clue what they are; because I need to cut the sleeves separate from my top, they need to be held up, and Amanda wears hers up with what look like red watch straps. Or heck, mini arm-sized belts. Obviously watch straps don't work and I can't for the life of me find anything that looks anything like what I need. It doesn't help that I have no idea what to call these things so I don't know what to google (searching for 'arm belts' was disappointing). I realise I should have thought of this earlier, but then I'd have no last-minute panic to look forward to.

    Pet collars...?

Don't know if they're any use to you but might be worth a try! (Just made part of my own cosplay out of two 'doggie seatbelts' from Poundland,so you know, whatever works... )

I know size means nothing, was just a lighthearted comment :)

& yes, some if it is military type gear-i know security, hotels & otherwise, are going to be on high alert right now & that's why i was a little concerned!

If all else fails i'll just sweat it out in a coat til i'm safely inside, thanks for the advice :)

I would not want you to get the hassle the cosplayer who was arrested. Check the link below

Found the article after you mentioned it,cheers for the link anyway!

I'll definitely be keeping anything remotely suspicious well under wraps til i get there, don't worry-i have no intention of spending the day in custody while the police try and figure out how dangerous my spraypainted Poundland guns are!

Thanks all of you for the advice :)

Yeah,i'll be keeping all weaponry well hidden til i actually get there, but my cosplay still involves a lot of tactical-looking stuff (Winter soldier)...

Just didn't fancy being wrestled to the ground in the hotel lobby by overenthusiastic security!

Winter soldier a cool costume idea :) will be keeping an eye out for yours!

Doing it on the saturday i think :)

Feel free to give us a hello if you spot me!

  8. Hello!

Quick cosplay related question! (Seemed like the right thread to leave it in..)

Cosplaying for the first time this year,(there's spraypaint EVERYWHERE in my house/garden) & i'm pretty well researched on keeping weapons covered/making sure they're bendy etc...but just wondering-how do hotels usually react to cosplay?

For example,is a 4* hotel going to have me tailed by security for browsing the buffet in tactical gear..? I'd guess they're pretty used to it this time of year, but i have the ability to overthink a situation at 1000 paces,so just wondering if anyone had any experience?

    Cheers all!

  9.

Walked it from Euston last year..

Doable.....in a 'it didn't look that far on google maps...are we there yet?' way,admittedly..

but still walkable if you're really stuck....

    :)

How far is the walk? We normally get a train straight to Euston from Northampton or Milton Keynes but then go for the tube.

Took us about an hour and half,ish....

that's with a couple of rest breaks in Hyde park and a stop for some ice cream-related bribery!

Just seemed less stressful than the tube :)

  10. Yeah, there's cheaper places about for sure, depends how far you're willing to trek! Stayed at the Novotel West last year which was pretty close, but this year i've gone for the Hilton, for convenience and, well, general laziness :)

  11. Just found the Olympia Hilton on Booking.com for £350 for 3 nights...i know everyone's probably already super-organised and booked up months ago,but just gonna leave this here in case it's of any use to anyone! :)

  12. Hello!

first time cosplaying this year so as a newbie,be kind!

Just a quick question to any experts/cosplayers/generally lovely helpful people....

Part of my costume is a 'training' knife (winter soldier..)...it's solid rubber, including the 'blade' and the post above says not to use solid wood or plastic,so just wondering if this would be okay or not?

As i mentioned it is solid, but it is also rubber and the whole thing is definitely squishy/bendy!

No probs if not, just worth a check!

    Cheers in advance,

    Laura :)

  13. Hello!

Travelling down from Leicester on the friday and doing some shopping in Soho first...do any of you lovely people know if Kensington is walkable from Soho? Or is it a 'doesn't look that far on google maps but will in fact be an epic and regrettable cross-city trek in a heatwave' type affair?

    Cheers guys! :)

  14. Thankyou for the quick reply!
Was taking a friend's children, but now they're going away on holiday instead-was then convinced we'd be turned away on the door for not having the four people that the ticket is for!

Also I have no idea why i typed adults twice, must have been my panicked state!

    Thanks :)

  15. Hello!

Couldn't find the ticketing thread so i'll just stick this here...

quick question-I have a family ticket for the saturday, but only the two adults adults attending...will the ticket still be valid? Or does it HAVE to be two adults/two children?

    Cheers guys!

    Laura
