Have to say, I use and visit alot of forums and this is by far the most bizarre in terms of what you arent allowed to mention or talk about.
Me too, i've never seen anything like it. Of all the problems on saturday i can cut them alot of slack, great guests equal huge queue and i will give them the benifit of the doubt that they will fix those problems at future shows and in the end they host great shows but i will never understand or except the censorship of their customers views, its ludicrous and wrong.

Why are all the raffle threads being deleted? There wasn't any rudeness? And I was trying to answer a statement that Showmaster submitted. ??
I didn't see kitten's post, but I'm disappointed that all the raffle threads have been deleted without a replacement post from SM explaining what went wrong, and what they plan to do to fix it.
I do understand that SM are only human, and it's easy for something to go wrong with a new venture such as the raffle (especially with so much else going on), but, as I've said before, pretending a problem doesn't exist very rarely makes it go away.
But it will make it go away in this instance. Threads and posts will be deleted until no one is bothering anymore then all trace of complaint will be gone and newer expensive "packages" can be sold. Remember what DavidB said "this is not a place for free speech " this is not a democracy" but it is a place where the solution to the weekends problems is more tiers of tickets and does anyone think those tiers will be cheaper.

So Sm solution is to invent even more expensive "packages" and the majority think its a good idea. Crazy. If saturday is capped then entry and each auto and photo will go up. If celebs can only do 300 to 600 autos a day then these guarenteed packages will have you over a barrell price wise and of course they will behind screens so you don't see them for free either. the price of the bigger celebs will now rise. supply and demand Can see my account being banned soon enough.

Thank you to everyone who is leaving comments and constructive criticism. That was what I was trying to encourage initially, not an in depth discussion on the dos and don't of forum moderation.
But if members of this forum want an indepth disscusion on forum moderation(and it seems like they do) then why don't you just let them? its not really for you to "encourage" what members want to talk about is it? that in essence is what a forum is for, for the members with a shared interest to talk about what they want. The mods on here can dance around as much as you want talking about "Swearing" and "arguments" but you have been instructed to remove posts that don't show SM and its events in a wholely positive light, however slight, that is the 100% truth,end of.

@cropsy - hopefully it just sounds like I'm being honest, because that's all I'm trying to do.
I wouldn't dream of joining up another forum and expect to be allowed to post absolutely anything I wanted. They all have rules.
My point is that unless you make your own forum, no one can do EXACTLY what they want. That's not me being a Nazi or whatever anyone else wants to throw at me but simply the facts.
And yes, there's been plenty of arguing on here, not discussion. Calling people spam lickers or apologists or trolls etc, whatever side of the argument, IS NOT a discussion.
Again i can accept the deletion of the arguments and namecalling but just last week i said i would like more horror and 80s guests instead all the sw and dw guests (about 7 announcements in a few days) and it was deleted. There is no valid reason for that, its overkill and like i said before its not individual posts its WHOLE threads. I sound like a broken record but theres no need to mod so much. I love these events and i really enjoy this forum and the people on it and appreciate all the work you and fellow mods do but its overkill David and at the end of the day is propaganda.

Reading through the recent comments, here lies the problem - no matter how reasonable we try to be on here, unless we do exactly what EVERYONE wants, there's always going to be people that are rude and have complaints about how we do things around here.
I've tried to ask people to be reasonable to each other, and I've not deleted things but instead locked them, and still there's issues.
The truth is simple - this is Showmasters' forum, they allow you to post here by signing up, and they/the mods are entitled to run things how they see fit. It's not a place for free speech, for democracy, or anything like that. It's just like every other message board and website out there. Just because it's the Internet, it doesn't mean you can do whatever you want.
BUT reading through things today, I've tried to listen to people and deal with things in a more positive manner, allowing people to air their opinions on the event and not removing anything, while simply requesting that people don't argue with each other. Same with Twitter - I've been told to f--k off and all manner of things on there, but never risen to it. Despite all this, things still descend into mess.
Sometimes I just want to smack my head against the desk in all honesty..

The swearing at you is truly uncalled for and is something most here would never do. But this is certainly not like every other forum out there, rermoving posts for swearing is one thing but this forum removes entire threads it does not like. "This is not a place for free speech" "this is not a dmocracy" do you not realise how that sounds (apart from a walking dead script) . also you keep saying arguing but except for the uncalled comment by abberline there is no arguing, just discussion but you know as well as me this thread will be removed in time.

You have to bear in mind things can read out of context on here. So perhaps maybe that is what I am doing, but all the posts Abberline has made have been very negative, much more so than those who have made valid claims of problems from the weekend, and in some come cases completely uncalled for! The first post they made in the Stan Lee thread was like they were trying to cause trouble, by saying that Pandora's Box was open due to one fan being lucky to get individual meet and greet thanks to Stan's manager! To me that is completely uncalled for (and yes I know I have made some angry posts which probably were uncalled for earlier today but I have apologised for that).
I know where you are coming from but i just don't want the failings of this show to be swept under the carpet as SM like to do. I really enjoy these events but improvements truly need to be made to future shows and seing complaints as just people being whiney or causing trouble is not the way to go. Another event like this will really harm SM and of course i will never approve of the censorship of negative comments that don't swear or insult.

People don't like stuff being deleted, so I've tried to lock with a comment so we don't keep having the same discussions. That's all :)
If something was removed by SM then that's up to them.
I understand that you do the best you can and Sm can do what they want but the deleting of post they don't like is very poor and something that annoys me with this forum. It does not show them in a good light at all.

I myself and those with me had a pretty good time but i met loads who we're having a nightmare so i'm kinda in the middle with it all. We are all the same though so certainly won't argue with anyone. Some better thought and planning for next year(Don't scale the event back just get a bigger venue) and all will be fine.

I spotted KingRichard in the queue early on on my way to tescos. He was sat on a chair about 10 from the front. He looked gutted he was'nt first tbh :). There was a guy with a sleeping bag who was 1st, anyone know if he spent the night outside?

Thought the crew we're really helpful and friendly this year, those at the front desk and the sweet girl doing the George Romero queue. Overworked but very nice, a credit to the event.

Surely you must realise that people have legitimate views and that the only way SM can learn and improve is to take those concerns onboard. I did'nt really have any gripes except for overcrowding but i can at least empathise with those whos day was ruined because those peeople are just like me and you, fans of these types of events and genres.
I don't really see how this is crazy at all. All I'm saying is that it must have taken a huge amount of effort on the part of showmasters to set this up and people are continually cutting them down. Without them, none of the amazing guests would have been here - you wouldn't have met anyone! Imagine having to travel to America to meet your idols. London I can just about manage, but New York? I'll pass.
You do realise we pay for the privilage. If you buy a sofa and the sofa is below standard do you thank the sofa company and except it? Like i said i had a good weekend but they got a zillion things wrong and 1000s of peoples day was ruined and you want to just forget that and heap praise, btw there is already a positive thread for that anyway. People inc children we're waiting in baking heat for hours on end with no info why, why,? SM could have hire 4 day people at a cost of £100 each to patrol all queues give the walkie talkies and keep everyonne up to date, they dcided not to do this WHY? money no doubt, and you heap praise. Bad form pal.

THANK YOU so much. I lost my Hellraiser 3 poster signed by Terry Farrell on saturday and this wonderful person handed it in to the front desk almost immediately which is no small feat considering how hard it was to move about. I don't know if you will ever read this and im sure it will get lost in the threads but you made my day. I thought it was gone and would have put a real dampner on my weekend. I just wish i could have bought you a drink to say thanks. Once agian, thank you.

It needs a bigger venue and an organisation upgrade. No complaints from me just a suggestion, i think this event stands at a crossroads- i said on these forums just a few weeeks ago that LFCC could easily become the biggest event outside San Deigo, i am now convinced of this but it needs a bigger venue, it was dangerously overpacked this year and obviously the concerns outside. Its simply outgrown Earls court. It also needs to be run abit more smoother, A4 paper signs and under staffing must be a thing of the past, some things scream amatuer when the show itself is huge. Showmasters themselves must see this as paying customers we're turned away Don't consider any of this as complaints as i had a great time(i could have spent far more though but no room to move) but you are sitting on a goldmine, INVEST and go for it. Gold pass for next year methinks.

Can a friend join me in the queue for autographs just to keep me company and not buy an autograph? Same question for photoshoots. I know for autographs they must buy a VQ ticket, but will this allow them to go right up to the table with me, or do I need to ditch them?
Autographs: yes - but VQ tickets are free, you don't have to buy them. They can go with you to the table. No for the photos, sorry.
I have eb sat tickets but if i pop in on friday(pay at door) can i buy Michael Beihn photo tickets to use on the sat? i'm assuming there will be less queing on the fri.
Yes, that won't be a problem. Photo shoot tickets for all days will be available on the sales table.
