  1. No longer fugly robes. Hood was JUST too small for the collar, but it's lined, which is something I'd never done before. So I'm rather proud.

Just to paint the knife and if I can find more navy ribbon, add on the black tails. Based them off the female Novice robes but with some minor alterations. Wanted to base the colour scheme off a Magpie.

  2. Progress on Assassin Novice.

Marias Dagger. If there'd been time and the weather wasn't terrible I'd have used an EVA floor mat, shaped with a dremel. instead it's craft foam.

  3. Yessss. Oh my gosh. I've some friends who want to do a FFX group next year, and tho I've NO knowledge of the series I love the costume designs and really want to do Lulu. It looks like an outfit that'd be really forgiving to my awkward shape.

Also forgetting my manners. You look fantastic. Can't wait to see the belty skirt finished.

  4. I've been on the bus from Lenzie to glasgow as Ryuko. In her start outfit and the proper senketsu outfit. Onetime when wandering around Glasgow I was stopped by some people who'd seen me at DeeCon. I'll prolly wear my Yang Xiao Long and Novice Robes on the bus cause I hate carrying too much stuff around.

  5. Cosplay update. finally started moving my butt in gear. Battle bunny Riven is 1/3 done (unsure if i will have carrot blade for cm tho), Nami i havent even started on though ...woops.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person in this situ. I'm running out tomorrow to buy fabric for Assassin Robes that I'm hoping to make for CMG.

  6. Aww thanks Swanny! I'mone of the cosplay guest stars again this year so i will be at a stall, doing some panels and also judging the contest so you will see me kicking about.

Then I'll make a point to come over and do my "I'm looking at some fantastic cosplay work" dance. Which is a lot of screeching, gesturing and generally making everyone very embarrassed.

  7. I do this for every character, end up hating it and then when i wear it to the event people compliment me and ask for photos and i feel a whole lot more positive about it (sounds a wee bit big headed of me lol)

    Are you literally me?

This will be my first con, so a bit of a confidence issue........ Hence the big Fk off latex mask lol.

I'm on the chunkier side too, but you don't look large. So Calm down and cosplay yer heart out lol

Yes you are literally me. I cannot wait to see your Moxxi tho. You have NAILED the cell-shaded look of the games. You look fantastic, really hope I get to see you at the event.

  8. Ahhh a month left?!

I don't even know what I'm wearing! DB

Yang I think for a friend's wee one is going as Ruby (sisters). If I finish either then maybe Korra or Assassin's robes. If not I don't even. Maybe Velvet or Scarlet Witch.

As for cheeky remarks about my outfits. Never had anyone be nasty, but some total perv told me I "Smelled delicious" when I was wearing Scarlet Witch.

I'll be sure to inform Impulse how nice their £2 deodorant smells.

  9. I know I said I'd be making Pyramid head. But I've literally no way to store it once it's made so I'll prolly wear one of my already existing cosplays.

I'll be Yang Xiao Long one day cause a friend says he's dressing his wee girl as Ruby Rose (Yang's little sis) and the chance for adorable pics is too good to miss.

Other day could be anything. I've got Yang, Jade Harley (homestuck), Ryuko Matoi, Bucky Barnes, Scarlet Witch and possibly Mami Tomoe or Lady Loki. So plenty to choose from.

Also want to make Wanda Maximoff's House of M outfit, if anyone has any experience making full gowns.

  10. Finished my Winter soldier and debuted at London this show. Deffo think I'll be wearing this at Collectormania because I love it so. Will still try to make Pyramid Head but I've half promised a friend I'd make an Xmen cosplay and dunno if I can still afford it.

Though PH is cheapest fabric, paints and cardboard so we'll see. It's more the issue of storing it at home that has me stumped. Might have to postpone that one too, and it's bumming me out.

    Anyways. PIC.

Wow huge pic. All credit to Tumblr user agentphilippacoulson for taking the pic. She was awesome enough to tail our group for most of the weekend and take awesome SHIELD, Xmen and Winter Soldier pics. Also she knew how to direct us, I've seen few photographers do that. (Wow this sounds like a plug, she's just really good and really nice. Also she made us brownies.... I feel a little bribed now.)

  11. I've done it again. Lady Loki has been put on the back burner in favour of Winter Soldier.

I have never worked with faux leather before. My seams are a little puckered. There's a bit where the sleeve pulls a big puck in the suit.

But I love it. I am so happy with it and I can't wait to wear it.

  12. Oh gosh that dress is so pretty and I want one. Also coscraft are good for wigs. I buy all mine from there. They're such good quality, easy to untangle with wig spray, and actually a decent size cause I find that wigs off ebay are always tiny and don't fit the head right.

I'm about to spoil the surprise. I'm cosplaying as Lady Loki. (highlight to read) So far it's been a weird cosplay to put together. I was gonna make my leggings but instead just bought them out of Primark. Eh.

  13. OOH! OOH! I KNOW! I KNOW!

    It's...

THE GIANT ROBOT SPIDER FROM "WILD WILD WEST!"

    DUDE HOW DID YOU KNOW?!?!?!

Hehe, I was gonna tell tho cause I've already told all folks on FB, but if you guys are actually up for the surprise thing then I'm all for keeping schtum.

Except now I can't share progress pics and I like sharing progress pics weh.

  14. Oh, so possible change to my cosplays this year. Will still be doing PH, but might put aside the Ryuko cosplay in favour of another.

However I'm keeping it secret so I don't disappoint myself if I screw it up, and I hate telling people "I'm doing a thing! No sorry I'm not doing the thing."

  15. 3. Props Rules

All weapons and props must be checked at the Cosplay desk on first arrival and approved by staff before allowed into the convention.

Your prop may not be allowed to enter the Convention for one or more of the following reasons:

    • Too large/unwieldy

    • Blocks corridors/doorways or is likely to hit or inconvenience others

    • Too heavy

    - If it's heavy, it can hurt, especially if dropped

    • Too hard

    - No props made of hard wood, or any sort of metal

    • Too sharp or spiky

    - No sharp bits or edges, make sure they're sanded/rounded/padded/covered or otherwise protected adequately

    • Too realistic

    - No realistic replica weaponry without obvious 'Blaze' (brightly coloured) tips and the weapon itself being out of use, of course.

    • No weapons that can fire any sort of projectile, even foam darts or water, unless it can be shown to be empty and/or that only some parts have been used for the prop.

    • No actions which may lead event staff, attendees or members of the general public to believe you are in possession of a real live weapon, even at a distance. In these cases it is not only up to our (Staff) discretion; we do also have Venue Security in place who will have to approve it.

    • No pyrotechnics, explosives (including cap-guns) or incendiary items

    • Actual weapons (including airguns, deactivated guns, blunted/sharp knives or swords, live bows or slingshots) are expressly prohibited

In all cases, the weapon or prop must be no longer than 1.6 m (5.2ft). Any items longer this may be used in the Masquerade only and must be handed in to Registrations & Help Desk for safekeeping until then. If they are not handed in prior to the Masquerade they will not be permitted in the event itself

Please know that these rules are here to assure we have a safe Conventions for both Staff and Attendees. If you have been asked to put your prop away please be so kind and do so or in an extreme case you might risk being escorted from the Convention.

    A general safe rule is;

‘If you were to be hit with it repeatedly, would it break before you do?’

    - If your answer is ‘no’ here then it means that someone could get hurt were this to happen. In which case we would recommend you leave it at home just so you don’t get disappointed once at the Convention.

If you are in doubt whether or not you would be allowed to bring your prop please send photos and a description of the prop to cosplay@animeleague.com

I'm going by these rules. Meaning hopefully my scissor will be allowed. It's EVA foam over a 6mm thick piece of plywood. thin enough to the point it bends, sealed with plastdip to make it rubbery.

  16. I was so busy over the past few days getting ready for DeeCon I couldn't post any more WiPs of the sword.

But I got some pics at Deecon. Heres one of myself and another KLK cosplayer I came across.

  17. Haha I remember playing it in an arcade down south yrs ago and I was scared crazy and some of the other kids laughed hahaha if they laughed now they'd get run through with me cutlass hahaha

I've never played the arcade game, but right from the start of 2 I was spooked. Not so much by the monsters cause I've read up on them and seen so much of them they don't phase me anymore (hahahah that's a lie). But even just the ambient sound and music is spooky.

Speaking of swords, tho! I spent the better part of this evening out the back cutting foam for a cosplay sword. And driving my neighbours dog crazy with the noise.

    tumblr_n3dcdo3rDF1two8fgo1_r1_500.png

I'm making this for Deecon this weekend, but I'll be reusing it for one of my cosplays at collectormania. Probably Sunday I'll be wearing Junketsu. Saturday'll prolly be P-Hiddy.

Also while I'm here. Can I ask how long everyone has been cosplaying? It's only been like 6 or 7 months for me, I came into it late (I'm 24) but I love it.

  18. Oh man, I better get to it then. This'll be my first large prop. And my first helmet.

What's even funnier is I never completed Silent Hill 2 myself. I reached the hospital and gave up 'cause even non-Hellworld hospitals freak me out.
