  1. Now, I'd like to see a measured response from you here rather than quote/pimptalk/quote/pimptalk. I'm not hopeful, but we'll see.... but, if you aren't able to respond without treating this like a secondary school playground, then don't bother.

    Surprise me.

    Bwah hahah ha ha ha.

    Enough already. Please

Please bub why say that yet do it yourself. Or do you only read and see what you quote/pimptalk the hell you're on about, yourself to others? in laymans terms look at what you have done before you get all high and mighty with quote/pimptalk.

Surprise you? sigh, i actually thought you had some basic intelligence but you like to turn this into piracy Vs megafan when it truly isn't about me. but your inability to comprehend a discussion without not liking the other guy so i'll make it about him cos he shoots me down, and argues his points better than i do. (which lets face it is, damn true o.k. bub)

And before you get quote happy yourself you hypocrite. how many times did i say i actually AGRRED WITH YOUR ANGLE on piracy but didn't like how you put it across.

Sorry, but it plain obvious you can't read at all, if your having a go at a guy who says that about you which is a compliment.

oh watch out a quote is coming...............

Megafan, I've come to realize you fit a template seen all too regularly on message boards..... the guy who, bolstered by the relative anonymity of the 'net, decides that he can trash talk all he wants without comeback. Let's have a random look over some of the things you've said here : -

    :wub::D:P

    Eh?

I didn't trash talk you. Till you got all in my face about it, go back and read where you took things personal and you'll see pal. Far as fitting templates. You fit the one of the guy who thinks he is all that yet is surprised when somebody steps up to him and confronts him on all the lame brained issues he thinks he knows better than anyone else. You also fit the template of the, basement boy insulting and having a go at the the "basement boys"

So thats makes you the "uber basement boy" doesn't it.

Oh and far as the internet thing goes. Yeah plenty of people make typos you me everyone. So your pretty dumb resorting to that sad technique of trying to get under my skin with that old hat insult. So what, you'd expect typos on the net. Big frickin deal. Would you bet your life you'd never make another typo again? I'd love to see that one. Come forward and say you wouldn't ever again, please be that arrogant please.

Sorry, but your full of it! "$#!?" that is bub.

I'm not hiding at all, go back and read several of our posts (since you don't want quotes) and you'll see i said i'll talk to anyone on the matter about it.

Nice being pretty ignorant of what been already said but you ain't got no dice so quit while your behind me on this and settle for that fact you didn't want to continue a civil discussion like a grown up o.k. you didn't offer me any compliments but i did offer you several. Shows what a 'snake' you truly are doesn't it?

Give me plenty of comeback actually, just you, not your fanclub that jumps to your aid cos your in a jam without any assistance from others. Just YOU! Unless of course you can't. (wouldn't surprise me)

    Etc.

What's with you eh? Can't you get your point across with trying to bitch-talk? All this crap about 'you started the fight so I'm going to finish it' is the sort of s*** I'd expect from a 10 year old kid (having said that, your English seems to 'age' you at about 11 so that would make sense....)

WHAT and look what you put down, you idiotic moron?:lol:

Yeah fine example, you set the tone and attitude of the thread then try to counter with that old cliche. If your so superior and better why not avoid that pitfall you say is for 10 year olds yet make the same damn mistake all the time answering me in a rude aggressive manner?!

Set a fine example you certainly don't boy.

    Nimrod!

Oh thats right thats what you'd say while trying to be Mr Adult about it right? but you still be childish doing so, isn't that right.

I don't really care whether you agree with me, TommyT, lawrenson or whomever - that's your right, you can have whatever opinion you want. But one thing I do expect is that if you're going to argue, you do it without trash-talking. If you want to have a reasoned discussion, fine; but if you feel the need to 'give it large', there are other places, other forums.

Now that we've got that out of the way, let's deal with some of your issues. Once you filter out all the posturing you've made two decent points in your last 10 posts.

Giving it large? this isn't a club? you've been pretty vocal with your own insult with 10 year old this and that so please try to sound like your an adult without all the lowblow insults slid in there, while making them towards me sounding like your trying to be more of a prat that you already are. I'm suppose to take you seriously after the comments like; 10 year old, pimptalk, blab blab spelling mistakes nonsense and trashtalking you've made yourself.

    PLEASE!

And another thing, but i gotta take it apart cos it just defeats your arguement dead in the water.

I don't really care whether you agree with me, TommyT, lawrenson or whomever - that's your right, you can have whatever opinion you want.

Then you going to be constantly arrogant cos you're suppose to care in an arguement! er thats why you argue in the first place. You fail to realise the logic in the discusssion anyways. Which by the way, if this is so persoanl to you, did you complain to SM about the DVD pirates yes or no? (if you can't answer ONE simple questin there is no hope for you then?)

If you didn't then that too is another mark against you. Cos i fail to understand why your so passionate about a mere arguement that for better or worse was going fine til you went overboard. Oh and taking my metaphor about the PC thing. Is another mark against you, you fail to grasp the logic there too.

I'd say surprised me. but i know your routine already. You'll still comeback with another insulting post yet again while trying to sound like you better than me and several other here. (oh boy, you ain't not by a long shot pal)

I would think you're right - most people probably have bought a pirated DVD. I myself never have (whether you like it or not), but I certainly would not look down on those who do; I just don't personally think it's right, simple as that, and if you ask me why I will tell you (as I have done earlier in this thread).

Must be in that alternate reality cos it ain't here. and you have argued with others before i made a post here looking down at others, so don't lie.

Now, I'd like to see a measured response from you here rather than quote/pimptalk/quote/pimptalk.

What like you tommyT and others have done already? Please. Grow up, that happens regardless on message boards so don't expect people to stop doing it cos YOU don't like to see it go on? Am i the only one doing it now, or be that the next post/thread somebody does on these message boards? No i won't be so live with it.

Don't know about the others here, but one thing I am not is a curtain-twitcher. I don't approve of these people selling dodgy DVDs, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go supergrass and walk up to teacher and 'tell' on them - it's just not my style. To a certain extent you have a point however (regardless of your confrontational way of putting it).

Yeah right. whatever. Far as going up to the teacher goes ( :D ) ah...o.k. fine whatever you say heh heh. but far as (regardless of your confrontational way of putting it)

    Confrontational? :blink::angry:

Er......Yeah like you haven't alone with tommyT and others have been "Confrontational". Indeed, sure bub, whatever you say? And pigs fly if you haven't do so towards me, page in page out.

You're very ignorant or just plain dumb. Lets not kid ourselves you been insulting me along with others so don't ever take any high ground saying you aren't, cos you are. and will after my post too.

Ah i'm done with you anyways, say what you want. buy all your expensive movies and watch films in the most expensive cinemas 24/7 and see if most people here will give a hoot for you.

There really is no hope for people like you and TommyT. you don't choose to listen (or make sense) thus you get angry over nothing.

    Later junior.

Remember now, you're suppose to set an example, so lets not see any quote/pimptalk/spelling error/trashtalk subtle lowblow remarks. Or your just what i've known about you, from the beginning. Just another hypocrite full of himself wanting to rule any posted thread he is involved with, Mr Oh-so-Perfect never wrong, MikeDonovan! You wish.

I've got better things to do than answer posts designed to starts fights from half brain idiots who think they know better like MD, tommyT, Chris_MK and other morons. Nice try but next time get your facts right before doing all the exact same things in your posts and acting like you didn't say that or do whatnot.

    Pathetic.

  2. You wish?

Larson owns the film rights not the TV rights to Battlestar Galactica! So it won't ever be that crappy new one with glowing backs, sex changed characters, cheesy rip off remake with stolen story ideas from the classic series and humans playing Cylons. Glen Larson liked his original Battlestar better. and hopes to get this one done over a few year's time.

Movie based on the new one. Hah what a kidder.... ^_^

Not as long as Glen Larson owns the movie copyrights which are his lock and stock.

That garbage isn't Galactica, not really.

  3. Thanks for not jumping down my throat on this lawrenson. i'd love to debate it with you, but as you can see people would rather lose the focus and start fights and other things they can't even finish.

Personally i think mostly everyone here has bought a pirated DVD. They all do, and if they deny it. Then too bad, i'm not interested in twofaced individuals who say otherwise and know they do period but act like they are higher than god and are the perfect person who deson't break any laws.

    Crap, quit lying already.

You know you do, thats why no ones wants to come forward and say they'd grass-up a dealer selling the stuff?

If thats not the case, then deal with SM on the matter then, not me. I don't make the dealers go to SM events do i?

  4. Oh but please, step forward and take a bow yourself, as such a polished practitioner of the art!

    :blink::(:wub:

You been here for hours and only now thats the best reply you came up with?

You need to step in and fight another man's battles for him (poorly i might add ;) ) and do what exactly fall flat on your butt looking just as ignorant. Fine, let take your weak reply apart shall we.

Your problem is that you seem to be saying that since it exists throughout society, just accept it and don't make a noise about it*, since nothing will change. Unfortunately, you're talking about breaking a law of the land. Some of your quotes from other posts in this thread:

Nope never said that(*). You on the other hand fail to read my posts.

I DON'T SUPPORT PIRACY but acknowledge it exists within everybody's lives, within homes. and with all those hypocrites who say they don't but probably do anyways.

Guess your one of the hypocrites then jackass!

Now, imagine the crime is burglary. Or murder. Or child molesting. All of them, like piracy, are illegal. All of them happen pretty much daily in society. Using your analogy, we shouldn't do anything to stop them. Sure, I bet if you see a guy running out of your house with your TV, your first thought will be "don't think the easy solution to the problem is to simply point the finger and lable the culprit outright." (sic)

The ultimate outcome of a society that declines to enforce its laws is either a collapse of that civilised society, or the rise of a repressive regime aimed at ending the increasing lawlessness, usually with a huge loss of personal liberty all round.

Oh shut the hell up! My metaphor was close to the matter at hand. This........is wayyyyy off topic. So if you feel the need, go there if you must. But your really reaching for straws at this point. any doofus needing to make those kind of points is in serious need of help.

Take your pills, breath normally, put your "straitjacket" back on and sit in the corner? o.k.

The fact is that piracy, like the other offences I mentioned, is against the law of the land. You can't decide which laws you are going to obey and which you are going to ignore, for that way lies anarchy. If you're not that bothered about people obeying the piracy law, maybe I'm not going to be that bothered about people obeying the laws on robbery, so screw you if you get mugged. If you want to live in an orderly society, you have to obey the laws. Feel free to campaign for their change, but what gives you the legal or moral right to decide that certain laws don't matter as much as others?

I said i actually agreed with MD on the issueabout piracy. but not his way of putting them across. Its you dickheads who can't read let alone understand mere simple points, a child would get in real life.

Selfrightous morons claiming orderly, society **** off, you probably bought a pirated DVD so don't jump down my throat with that attitude junior.

I'll say it again, how many of you uptight heroic wannabes actually reported the dealers selling those pirated DVD's you're bitching on about to Showmasters themselves! I want to see hands, if not suck on it and bite your own lip. Have a go at me, you wish you cowardly braggers?

Give me an ethical, logical reason why we should not bother about a particular law because some people are willing to break it.

Oh i'll give you something alright, for jumpiing on my back like the coward you are?

is beyond belief, certainly beyond satire.

Yeah alot of what you said, is plenty satire alright. Ever done any gigs on stage lately? better not you might get eggs thrown at you. :D

Actually I withdraw my above request for an ethical, logical explanation from you; I don't think that I could cope with the headache your ramblings would give me.

Please do me a favor, everything you've put down is obviously designed to start a fight. See thats how the internet works. Guys like you see a fight online and start flaming away like there is no tomorrow at somebody you don't even know. Poor poor you TommyT. i'd feel sorry for you but i've got better things to worry about than some ignorant fool looking for a good time thinking he can even compete in this discussion.

since I had trouble replying to your previous post

I'm not surprised, its too much for you.

Oh love the way you avoided, my answers more or less in your quotes.

Look the moral is, just be sensible and don't break the law if you feel THAT PC about it.

    Yes i did say that didn't i?

If thats gibberish to you. I suggest you either get stronger glasses or learn to read you thick moron. It so painfully obvious you want to fight. Pity no one told you how to put your points across like a grown adult.

Actually I withdraw my above request for an ethical, logical explanation from you; I don't think that I could cope with the headache your ramblings would give me.

You can't deal or cope with alot of things really. Gee that is sad. I suggest you leave this to people who have a grasp of reality and don't join the PC crowd thinking your concerns with change the world at large or makes you out to be a hero of some sort to anyone?

Why couldn't ask me a question like this:

Out of curiousity, how DID these dealers get away with it, then?..

    See sensible enough?

Nah, you're too interested in starting fights on purpose. You dickhead ;)

And once again answer my question. Who reported the dealers to SM for their illegal activity? Cos unless you did shut up already! Most of you jumping in just want to fight with me to be the alpha male of the boards or something other than that. Sorry that won't happen.

And its getting pathetic! Just like you TommyT.

    :P:D

  5. I've lost all respect for anybody or anyone going to. Or putting up links to that place to dwell on for news?!

Considering the kind of langauge they like to use on Harry's sad site for the braindead "hate everything, everyone and their mothers" website, full of uber: hypocrites. Shame on you. What if some kid from here goes over there and reads all that crap?

Have you actually read that page fella, don't think showmasters would approve of that place if they read it!

    Remove the link man. :P

  6. Please, try to actually sound like you have a grudge with me rather than go off on one to provoke me on diliberately, doofus!

I just tried to quote your post, but couldn't as I got some gibberish (as opposed to the nonsense of your 'argument')

To you maybe, where the hell is your arguement? didn't make one cos its isn't within your grasp to do so is it..aw!

    Try again junior.

No... it wasn't.... you've failed to actually respond to any of the points.

Oh right, thats why i have more repsonces than yours, ah i see.. you really are confused. i should leave you alone then being you haven't even read all the posts on this thread have you?

Oh and learn to quit moaning about gibberish when you seem so good at it and do it generally in most post you do yourself. Are you an expert at it, i'm curious? seriously are you?

   ;)

  7. They were persistantly trying to blag free autographs and hassle the actors.

We had them taken out the back and shot.

Don't make jokes like that. Those guys in suits make mistakes. Most of the time they react to something its generally over some minor trivia thing, they themsleves blow out of proportion.

Unlike like it is in the United States, suited guards don't arm themselves. Real troublemakers with a grudge would be carrying firearms or something don't ya think. Doubtful it going to happen in the U.K. generally security deal with minor things. Nothing too serious has ever happened at SM to threaten any stars, has it?

    Thank god.

  8. Hmmm. First of all, referring to your earlier posts, I don't think anyone on here is calling you an idiot, so don't get too defensive. Also, in the same spirit, I don't want to get pedantic but it's best not to start criticizing others for their spelling, grammar, etc. whilst simultaneously making spelling and grammar errors in your own posts.

You have made a few good points, but mostly you have missed the key issue.

If you want, for example, a free operating system, go and download linux + KDE. If you want a free version of Microsoft Office, go get Open Office. Can't be bothered? Want the easy life that Windows gives you? Then pay for it. Windows is the product it is because Microsoft have invested millions into it, and the only way they can do that is if you pay for it. If you don't want to pay for it, get linux - end of story. Hence you have no argument where software is concerned.... if you can't be bothered for whatever reason to either a) pay for a product or b ) use a 'free' equivalent then as far as I'm concerned you are simply a leech, and I will treat you as such.

Same with music. If you want free music, listen to the radio. Want free films? Watch them on ITV. With very few exceptions (i.e. the TV licence fee) no-one forces you to pay for anything you don't want.

The bottom line is this. Stop telling me that, just because it's prevalent within society, that it is right by default. It's not, and this is a childish argument. Pay people for their work, and they will continue to produce it. Give them the respect they deserve.

No i haven't missed the main point, you have, and its painfully obvious you have by a mile!

Any errors in my spelling is a hell of a lot less than the other guy. Personally the way he jumped on my back he got what he deserved. smarmyness exists wayyyyyy..... too much around here, so just back off telling whether or not. I'm taking things too seriously around here or not.

The bottom line is this. Stop telling me that, just because it's prevalent within society, that it is right by default.

No i won't, cos your bitching about stopping it and going on and on about respect. Well did you report the bottleggers Saturday and Sunday at LFCC 3. Cos your complaining about respect falls short when frankly no one here has admited to reporting any dealers selling illegal copies of DVD's.

If your so oh so perfect in your statements. Then did you or didn't you make any complaints to SM? either you did or you most certainly didn't. So quit taking the high ground.

What are you? just one man in a society of 50 to 60 million people. If by default you don't like it so much. YOU round up the bad guys if you feel the good guys are losing out to pirates and DVD bootleggers.

    My my?

All this from my example. tsk tsk, shame on you. Nice try in thinking i was supporting all that but i just gave an example you like to twist. Feel comfortable with everybody sucking up to you, but you're wrong in your claims. And for the bloody record for the umpteeth time, I DON'T SUPPORT PIRACY but acknowledge it exists within everybody's lives, within homes. and with all those hypocrites who say they don't but probably do anyways.

But sure, fine, do ahead and think one man shouting on the internet Pay people for their work, and they will continue to produce it. Give them the respect they deserve going to change how cynical people think. If you don't like it don't buy'em. Simple nuff said.

I don't buy tons of pirated DVD's or leech like you might have (don't know where you got that idea about me fella?) but i do know many others do it and will continue to do so.

Feel that pissed about it. Take on SM since they "HAD" those dealers there. calling me a leech cos you don't know how to argue pretty lame. You sound like some bootleggers actually stole from you personally? Soory if it did happen to you, but don't ever call me a leech EVER, i don't bootleg i my computer cost a ton of cash a few years back, so get you 'flipping' facts right for starters.

I ve read all your posts with great interest and agree with certain points of view in both.

but this line has confused me i have re-read it a few times and it doesn't make any sense

    What this?

Some of the software designers Mikedonovan was going on about. Make and write the software programs for the companies they work for right? now some of them themselves, then sell the expensive programs they or Others write for or developed for. A mere few bucks on the street?

Alright it's fixed, if you don't understand now its your lost, not mine.

Go ahead and have your fanbase MD. Either post who you saw at LFCC 3 selling pirated DVD's or give up with it. Selfrightous spewing nonesense only makes you sound like a windbag. If it bugs you so much do something about then, if not quit trying to run things around here cos you obviously don't. Neither do i for the record don't feed me your crap about if you can't be bothered for whatever reason to either a) pay for a product or b ) use a 'free' equivalent then as far as I'm concerned you are simply a leech, and I will treat you as such. Sounds pretty 'fresh'! Will you now?

Hence you have no arguement, if a) You make up stuff as you go along or b.) Get my metaphor wrong and wander off talking about computer when really its about piracy of illegal DVD's.

If you so easily lost track in my metaphor then, there is little point in going any further with this subject as you yourself are losing focus and not up to speed keeping up.

Pity, as this was a good discussion.

  9. No, it wasn't directed at your duffle bag gag TommyT, that was actually funny o.k. i do have a sense of humor about it!! B)

But seriously, if you're in that industry you already know for a fact. Somebody somewhere going to copy and bootleg your stuff? Nuff said.

It's like the government suddenly coming out saying you can't use the record button on your VCR to record a programmes off TV cos your copying something like TV programs and might keep them in the long run. (something technically is actually surprisingly true?)

Try all they might. that won't and can't ever happen.

  10. I'm not sure I get your point. I've seen blokes on street corners selling heroin as well. I assume that it's not now legal and socially acceptable to do so, so am I not allowed to feel aggrieved by that either?

Did you report it to the police? ;)

Sorry, now i can't resist TommyT. The fact being, some people here wish to jump on the backs of others who don't report the bootleggers selling pirated DVD's.

    Far as my quote goes?

selling computer programs worth a couple of hundreds of pounds, at the street corner for a mere £5 bucks?

Quite logical. Some of the software designers Mikedonovan was going on about. Make and write the software programs for the companies they work for right? now some of them themselves, then sell the expensive programs they or thers write of developed for a mere few bucks on the street?

Point is, while the companies sell them for hundreds of pounds. They know the software isn't really worth all that much. Its the developers your really paying for writing the software in the first place. But the company reaps the benefits y taking large mounts of the profits of the product selling. Commerical that is.

Point about the bootleggers is, they are selling you copied software or be that pirated DVD's as the subject of this thread is about right. Dirt cheap, cos for one they know what it basically boils down to i.e. How much it's really worth. And secondly they know people will buy the cheaper goods rather than shell out for the official ones which cost tons of money. i was making the point of how some of the people writng the software for computer software and those that copy DVD's work in the industry i.e. the little man MD was going on about. May actually be doing some bootlegging themselves?

    Thats the point!

I don't agree with it half the time. BUT THIS DOES HAPPEN!

And none of this schoolboy 'simply simon' routine of what if you were in their shoes business is going to make anyone here absolutely right over another person in this discussion is all. your going to have to discuss this with strong facts not, but if you were in their shoes "crapola" all the time. I'm not in their shoes thats the whole point, otherwise i'd be a pirate DVD bootleggers or selling computer software wouldn't it. i'm not. But it doesn't mean i'm ignorant of how i can identify with the situation and how i look upon it with my own opinions and give you a well thought out discussion on the matter, thats if several of you are up to it?

Disagree with me all you want to. But i'm not an idiot. I understand alot of things on this subject and respect some other people's opinions too. But just cos you don't agree with me, don't fall back on childish lowblows and insults o.k.

  11. Dude thier is millions of dumbass`s out there, you can`t change it. You could but it would involve a cull that would make Hitler look like Mickey Mouse on happy pills. Its unfortunate but we need the stupid to do the menial jobs.

*sigh* idiots come in all forms don't they? ;)

Whats that in aid of, do you even know me at all eh? I actually said i agree with MikeDonovan, so YOU sucking up with your chidlish comment towards me i just a trollish attempt to start trouble Dom.

You obviously too comfortable posting trash like that online. mouth off to somebody in real life like that and see where it takes you?

What kind of dickhead going to put that down, then this:

To be fair I will buy them every so often, but that is only the occasional film that looks ok but I won`t pay £14 to go to the cinema when I can get them 3 for £10.

Yeah like thats smart. There are (proper selling of "there" not 'thier') millions of dumbasses out there. And you happen to be one of them o.k. :P

I never said it was o.k to bootleg i'm just laying it out the cold and hard facts of the matter which conflict with MikeDonovan's. I'm sure he didn't ask you to jump in and suck up to him thinking your taking sides......(sarcasm) dude!

    Far as MikeDonovan's concerned.

Minor things? Like independent films perhaps? Smaller films? Small bands trying to get a break? Did you read my post? That was the whole point - piracy may not hurt people like George Lucas, but it massacres the little guy trying to get a break in the industry.

Yeah i read your post, and you didn't outline that so quit trying to make out. You meant to say that from the start. No point being subtle on a post like this. Just come out and say it, don't try to imply anything later cos your trying to make up for what you really wanted to say after all.

What and that makes it right does it? Just because everyone does it? I needn't point out where this attitude has been employed before in history, with disastrous results. Bottom line, if you had borrowed £30k to make a film, and I reached into your bag while you were down the pub and took it, made a copy, and put it on the internet the next day, imagine how you would feel? All of your hopes had gone in to that. How exactly are you going to forge a career when no-one is willing to pay for your merchandise? I would have STOLEN from you. This is no different.

I don't think it's a question of being two-faced - rather it's a question of people not being able to comprehend the world at the end of their nose.

Oh i comprehend alright. and i don't look and any situation like what if i were in that position cos i'm not. you can understand certain things in life without living in another person's shoes all the time. Sorry but that kind of logic is too simple. you could apply that level of thinking to practically everything. what if

Nope, you'll find out MikeDonovan that kind of attitude is employed and exists in reality everyday. So yeah while i disagree and see many of your points on the issue. i disagree with the way to put them across.

Criminals sell and trade weapons like guns (a real Important issue actually more serious than piracy) to folks, ordinary schmoes. That isn't right, but it happens doesn't it?

While bootlegging in many forms exists. You're reading into the situation to deeply. While it isn't right, money is still made even if your product is bootlegged, official copyrighted stuff or not. which is exactly what several people here have implied. Studios still make tons of money despite the piracy which looms. And the little guy in the market getting effected by piracy? Point made, true i agree. But even he/she sticks around to do something about it. Like try try try, again.

Crime does happen. but that doesn't mean their life is over as you're implying.

You pick yourself up and stick around to try again. the little guy's gotta work harder than the studio remember.

  12. You have to all understand that when you buy a DVD from a pirate seller, you might spend £3 on it, but none of that money goes to the film-maker. Now picture this. I make a film, or a TV series, or an album, and no-one buys it. Everyone downloads it sure, but no-one buys it. Who's ever going to give me the money to make another one? This is something that Ronald D Moore was complaining about with regard to his new BG series. Imagine what would have happened to LOTR if no-one had paid to see Fellowship of the ring? Or maybe you write software. Imagine how it would feel if you made your living from writing an app, only to find it cracked and up for download on a BitTorrent site?

Well as a fan of the superior original 1978 series, i have bones to pick with Ronald D Moore complaining like a little baby about don't download my new series etc. Cos for one, if he honestly gave a damn he'd bitch about piracy outright! Not just cos his new show was coming out. He bitched cos the if the ratings weren't there for his new show, it would be canned in a heartbeat period o.k. That and he trying to talk smack about how great his crappy series is in comparison to the original. bittorrent is there and people use it to download far superior shows than Ronald D Moore's so-called gritty and realistic Battlestar Galactica series for the 21st Century.

Don't suppose he bitched about The O.C., C.S.I., 24 or Smallville downloads now did he?

    Nope guess not.

LOTR not making any money? don't make me laugh, as we speak the latest Star Wars Episode is in people's homes enjoying life on some DVD-R or DVD-RW cos it was downloaded off the net. And yet the box office numbers are rising in every country as cinemagoers are still paying hard cash to see Star Wars on the big screen. So please if anything a LOTR trilogy everyone would argue is better wouldn't have any trouble making huge numbers in the movies o.k.

Keep it real. piracy may effect minor things but established things like both Star Wars and LOTR wouldn't be effected the way other films would be realistically.

Like i said before while i agree with you on the matter, i find your examples way off base.

People who write software pograms or music CD's would and should be, more aware of how the pirates work in the industry than anyone else. How many PC fairs have you been to where you see a guy in a duffle bag selling computer programs worth a couple of hundreds of pounds, at the street corner for a mere £5 bucks?

Even those people you mentioned do bootlegging and they themselves may have worked in a company making and selling software legit at one time, now sell those copies on the side too?!

Guess you're finding out that the world's more two-faced than even you've realised?

    Megafan

  13. Pity i didn't meet her. but if SM hasn't noticed. the £20 rule scares people away alot. Sure people do go to see their stars regardless and they'll make money (the star that is) cos of the extra 5 bucks. But that extra £5 usually stops people in their tracks and you can hear complains from other fans.

Also whats up with that short person in the shirt, wearing glasses tending to Charisma queue?

Plenty of people where filming the events at LFCC 3 today. Charisma beautiful and very eye catching, so your going to get people watching (innocently mind you) and galking. i see several people with camcorders and moblies filming the stars no problem. Obviously as this place has so many pictures put up from digital devices and whatnot. (place would be boring without the pics wouldn't it?) This joker mind you, sees me doing the exact same thing everyone else is doing, so starts taking things personal for some reason. He thinks he is blocking my shot so i use my zoom and get pass him.

As i start to move it to other stars taking in of course the event and soaking up the atmosphere (when it was good in spots?) he comes up to me quite rude without introducing himself and says in a low voice.

    Stop filming?

No excuse me, with any good manner. Not establishing any eye contact in a good way at all i.e. trying to eyeball me?

I don't care who the person is, eyeballing is very rude its enough provoke anyone. if this guy kept at it along with his rude behavior with somebody else who knows what their reaction would have been like. Seriously SM should stop getting, untrained, slackjawed, slobbish individuals who sleepwalk through conventions like this with unprofessional behavior. :o:angry::angry:

Make eye contact, speak clearly and don't eyeball a mere guy who is only trying to enjoy seeing some stars. If you have a problem air it. Don't try to block someone's shot or walk/jump in front of them while they are filming. i have no problem talking to somebody and reasoning with them if they think i'm standing in one place too long. i'm not anti-social or something. So why the disrespect nature of sm crew who don't put their weight?

This guy spoiled my decision to see Charisma most definitely. See sm, unless the people you've picked to crew your events behave in an orderly manner and know how to approach somebody and knows about customer service or dealing with the public which US customers to these shows are. My cash is staying put until you pick individuals who have manners. :P;)

Same goes for that American fella. seems all friendly on the outside, but i heard him bad mouth a couple of people under his breath and whispered into another crew member's ear about something while looking in my direction?

    Distasteful events.

SM crew usually are quite alright, i've talked to several at cons. Extremely friendly ones and nice kind thoughtful people who tell you a bit about themselves while you wait in line to meet a stars signing autographs. The good ones are suppost to outweight the bad ones aren't they?

Well you get these type of complaints all the time. Logically something isn't right so either fix it and hire people who know how to jobs without being difficult and making life uneasy for customers wanting to see a star. But then change their minds cos crew or security are eyeballing them or mouthing off in earshot thinking they are tough or macho and can easily get away with disgusting behavior?!

Although this time it wasn't as bad. I've seen it happen to others and its happened to me.

Anyways that spoiled it for me. Not the day mind you, just that minor rudeness that could have been worse had the reaction been wrong. Not to mention the money staying in my pocket instead of going to Charisma. isn't that the point of the show. Getting them to see guests they want to see, rather than irritate people into changing their minds!

  14. Remember when we used to be told pirate videos HARMED your VCR and that all profits went to drug dealers and pornography .... of course it didn't!!!

Do you think buying a copy of Episode three today may have affected the possibility of 20th century fox being able to make another movie ....

Yawn .... people people ... don't BUY pirate DVD's ... download and burn 'em ... it's virtually free and i KNOW most of you do it ... hypocrits.

JackTheDVDRipper i don't know you but you make a fair point, gotta love it when a person cuts through to the truth of the matter!

Video piracy has been around since before most of you were even born .... I am sure I am not the only person on here who is now in their thirties who remembers when their parents gave them a 100th generation bootleg copy of ET .... That was back in the days when cinema to video took about 18 months.... and I can tell you now the quality was abismal ... but every kid had one. It didn't stop Spielberg re-releasing it at the cinema four years later in 1986 and it still took good money.

Yep, i remember those days. you ain't lying.

Far as the region one matter goes. DVD dealers are just bending the rules a little. After all the law says, shops aren't allowed to sel region 1 on the high street. Thus they are sold either down stairs and up stairs in shops across the country? don't believe me, go to your local DVD joint that sells DVD's and see what your shop keeper/owner has in the downstairs section and look at what "other" selections are on offer.

    Half priced Region 1 DVD's!

Just stating cold hard facts is all.

Ask yourselves how many times the police have busted bootleggers, usually the same ones in a local area like a market place on the streets with their DVD's and how many times they will be doing it again. As much as it is wrong, don't think "grassing" somebody up will solve the problem cos it won't not in the least. I've seen untold bootleggers get busted and heard many more stories of those that got arrested more times than a soccer hooligan. You won't be a hero for anything or anybody.

Piracy isn't right, it exists in many forms that many of you don't even realise, way beyond films on a DVD disc or tape? think on that for a moment.

While it isn't right, don't think the easy solution to the problem is to simply point the finger and lable the culprit outright.

How niave are you all to think the SM have no idea that it is going on as the guy selling TV show pirates is Mr John Kelly who runs the Sci-Fi fan club in Luton and is an old friend of both Jason and Mark ... do you honestly think they are going to shop their mate???

    Example a)

Two days in a place selling DVD outright doesn't sound like your local market place does it?

I realise alot of people on here are smart, and it does come down to making your own mind up on a situation. But ask yourselves questions you didn't ask before and say why is that rather than I don't agree this should be happening! all the time. Pirated films being sold are wayy to blatant and easy to spot.

Cinema ticket prices and DVD/tapes being sold are ripping you and me off, more and more as we speak!

Truth be told the film industry defeats itself. Over and over as time goes on. Ever since the recordable format came out, VCR's. Wonder that would happen if a law is passed where the governments can break into your house and take your film copies in whatever format its in. (right, it will happen when pigs fly?) Look the moral is, just be sensible and don't break the law if you feel THAT PC about it.

Much as it pains you to hear it. unless your selling bootlegs which REALLY hurts the film industry. All you people with PC's and MAC's are going to continue to download films/TV series etc o.k. you can lie to anybody else on here, but not yourselves?! It comes down to choice, either don't do it too much, or not at all (which is actually best) But piracy WILL exist in some form right under your very noses o.k.

Did you buy official posters, artwork, collectibles etc or were they forged? Probably not, not going to happen. considering how expensive they are, what if they were forged? But did you ever ask yourselves that question? [no offence dealers, you guys sell wonderful stuff o.k. just my crude example] or better yet your local market stalls you shop in, not the obviously dodgy ones but market places where you think its all legit but isn't.

    Something to think on methinks.

  15. Won't be too bad, Sala Baker's a great dude. He might even be asked questions of his time on 'The Chronicles Of Narnia' film for a change other than the LOTR's movies as i've heard he did some work on it?

    ^_^

  16. Which one is he?! I thought the security guards wore white shirts?

They do tiggerbabe, sorry i meant to say. Milton Keynes mall security is fine, not them. I'm talking about the blue suited guards meant for the bigger guest stars.

Check the boards, this guy been described before. Many seem to have had run ins with him.

Security seems pretty cool generally, but this head guy (just him) seems to carry grudges. I found him to be very arrogant. You know, the kind that say you did something obviously "YOU DIDN'T" That can't admit their mistake or prove you wrong but give you alot of embarasment in public and don't apologise for their wrong doing and behavior. Don't worry though, one bad apple doesn't usually spoil the picnic for everybody else does it?

    Later.

  17. hey folks

Having not been to a collectormania before I need a bit of advice from some Veterans!

I'm gona be travelling to CM by car, 1h 20min(ish) journey and probably going on the Friday (thought it should be a bit quieter).

What I could do with help on is having never driven to Milton Keynes which Parking place is best to head for?

    Ta in advance!

Welcome be insane, O.K. lets see?

Well you've gotten directions from everybody else so thats covered, far as the cinem goes, it's adjascent to the shopping centres it's on the right side of the car parks. Far as your day at CM, get ready for...........

    1) Alot of long lined ques

    2) Getting into large (and i mean LARGE) crowds on a hot day!

    3) Meeting the star you want to see, and trying to cram everything you want to say within a few mere minutes at best?!

    4) Mums with buggies ready to run you down in the shopping centre when you don't expect it!

    5) Seeing all the great comic and show dealers with tons on offer, to sell to you.

    6) Posters, get'em, lots of them many as needed etc.

    7) Plan out your meals so you don't get the munchies moments from meeting the person you came miles and miles to see!

    8) Plan out your toliet breaks (see number 7*) don't drink too much!

    9) Beware of the "short" mean sour face security guard, in the dark blue suit (no one here likes him very much?!) he eye balls everybody :P

    10) Enjoy your day out! your bound to meet some nice people stars, crew, dealers and customers! (i.e. others like yourself) :P
