  1. Also, if you're going to wear a backpack, please be aware of how far it stretches out at the back - so many people don't appreciate that when they turn round or stop dead to look at a stall they're seriously inconveniencing others around them.

My suggestions would either be to wear it in front of you or use a messenger style back instead :)

I think it is just better off being more aware of your backpack on your back, unfortunately it does happen fairly often but back packs are 100x more convenient that messenger bags..

  2.

Yes I believe he does cancel a lot, but events are ALWAYS sold with 'guests appear subject to work' in the T's&C's so if someone chooses to buy a ticket for an event you take your chances on the guest you want to see still appearing by the time the event rolls around. It's really unfortunate and I do understand it's annoying, particularly if someone is always cancelling but they aren't just going to not invite him because you will always have people who want him as a guest.

Showmasters will let everyone know what is happening when they have had a chance to speak to his managers. Hopefully something can still be worked out.

I do get the 'guests appear subject to work' situation and I'd really like to meet him too. The 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me' quotation comes to mind.

If I was in charge of booking guests I'd be wary of booking someone who I suspect will let me down again. This is no reflection on Showmaster's or Media 10. They book a guest on good faith and expect that guest to show up not cancel at the last minuite.

This is why I made the suggestion that the DST organisers seriously consider whether or not it is worth their time and effort approaching such a fickle guest.

This being said, to my knowledge he has not cancelled yet and it is only speculation by me and others that fear that this is going to happen once more.

I appreciate your replies to my posts and hope that they are taken as constructive and not viewed as trying to cause trouble. That is not my intent.

Although disappointing if showmasters didn't approach these guests then there would be a 0% chance of them ever attending, I would definitely rather them try and get these guests and just keep my fingers crossed!

Famke tends does not tend to play "warm" characters on-screen and so I was not surprised by her off-screen personality.

In my opinion the announcement of a no touching rule at a photo session is not consistent with the reasonable expectations of the fans. I would at least like the option of a handshake at every photoshoot as a minimum. If the guest is sitting down, each fan should be given the opportunity to do the same (as they were at the Rutger Hauer photo session).

Whilst we all have our expectations we have to respect what the guest is comfortable with as well, therefore there really shouldn't, in my opinion, be any expectation of physical contact. If the guest is fine with touching and giving hugs then way hey go for it, but we should all. at the least, be prepared for that they might not want to.

I don't disagree about the chairs, if the guest is sitting, then it's nice to be at the same level.

I agree with the above.... although it is a shame she sat and didn't want to touch anyone I completely understand that.

I was just a little disappointed at the lack of warmth I received in my photo shoot, a smile or a Hi, how are you! Would of made all the difference for me.

  4. I only had a photo with him and I thought he was lovely and so so friendly!

Chatted to me about my necklace and that he had the same one as me, and he was playing with people props for the photos and seemed really interested and engaged with everyone that went through.

  5. I only got a photo with her but I was left quite disappointed.

No touching, I'm fine with that (tbh I'm not good at touching other people so I totally get that) sitting on a stool I'm ok with that too (I also have read she has broken a rib so I do respect she still did the photos)

But what left me a little flat was the fact I went in gave her a big smile said hello, and I just got a sniff hello then straight at the camera and back out. No warmth or even a smile. It left me feeling more like a burden, usually I come out with a warm feeling but this time I felt more like a deer in the headlights it was over so quickly and was quite awkward.

That's my feelings about the photo expirence

  6. Got my photo with Famke cant say impressed not a great photo with her sitting in a chair and not even close. No handshakes, etc. Ohhhh but you can smile lol wish i knew all of that before buying was going to get auto but nah wont bother.

I completely agree.... I don't mind the no touching thing too much but a smile or even a heart felt hello would of been nice. Felt more like I was a bother to her being there...

  7. I got a Pinhead and a Futurama Robot Devil this month, I couldn't find the Pinhead so that was a cool moment.

Do you do one a month or more?

Just 1 a month at the moment

I would love to do more but I really enjoy going out at buying them myself too so I save my money for that!

  8. I do POP! in a box as well and i like the fact you cant get doubles

I also really like how it fulfills my OCD side of keeping everything organised and in lists so I can see what I have and what I want!!

  9. Toria, fictional character feels are legitimate emotions. Processing them is awfully time-consuming.

Take right now, for instance; I've just finished work and have nearly two hours to kill before my bus home, so I've hopped on the computer at the library and what's the first thing I do? Pull up works of fiction in which my favourite characters suffer. It wounds me, yet I still do it. This is how I spend my free time.

    I completely agree!

Also finished work and spent from 7pm to 1am reading fan fics as well as tumblr and re watching movies. Angst fics are the best fics by far, I completely get where you are coming from!

  10. My hobbies include Tumblr, napping, trying/failing to nap, and uncontrollably crying over fictional characters (supposedly the reason why I have yet to ever form a significant bond with a real life human being).

You don't even need spare time to do it.

    OOh me too!

Tumblr sucks days and days of my life out of me haha!!

I'm pretty sure i'm more emotionally invested in the lives of fictional characters than I am in real life :whistling:

  11. You can't beat a walk on the beach if you have one in reasonable distance. Even if the weather is a bit crappy just wrap up and walk - lots to see on the shore, lovely fresh air and find a decent pub for lunch. Can't beat it.

Ooh you are so right :) There is something about seeing the sea that makes me so internally happy!

One of the reasons I attended Brighton Film and Comic Con this weekend just gone!

Unfortunately I am in Redhill so the coast is a bit of a trip for us!

  12. So attending cons is one of my favourite things to do in my free time at the weekends (especially during the summer).

But in-between cons I find it hard to think of things for my partner and I to do in our spare time...

We go to the cinema pretty much every weekend, but I just wondered if anyone had something they enjoyed doing or any suggestions of places to visit or go when the weather is lovely outside? :)

  13.

    Wonderful

Quick question, will you need to pick up tickets or will it be a case of queuing up at the time?

Does anyone know the answer to the above question?

I would love to know, i know in the past I have gotten there super early to pick up a free tickets yet other times I have just queued?

    Any ideas? :)

At LFCC Spring, it was just turn up and grab a seat. I imagine it will be the same in Brighton. I haven't seen SM use tickets for free talks for a few years.

Cheers, that is what I was thinking

Super excited for Chris Barrie's talk!
