OMG what an awesome idea! I know a few folks still in two minds about attending DSTL and a band, especially Five Year Mission would probably get them there! Mods? Is this possible??

Ive booked a couple of photographs on the Sunday and Id like them signed. Are the pics going to be ready in time, or should I move the days of the shoots?
Cheers.

There isn't normally, however, this event is a first, so we will have to see. Showmasters will let us know if anything like that will be available
Thank you, Ill keep my fingers crossed.

Still I think it's.. how to called it? These people are used to be photographed or be filmed. When it's not outside with fans, it is on a con of any other event were ever. They know they can expect people with videocamera's and so on. I can hardly imagine that any of the guest don't want to get their photo taken by fans. Thats why the fans are there, right? When they come to an event, they can expect photos/videos everywhere. (Turn you back for the photo, you turn your back for your fans, if you ask me)
@ Queen Sindel: On YT you can find almost every ST actor / actress. Search for another show of any other event. 99% of the videos are not made by the events itself.
@ TommyT: exactly
But a question beside: when will be desided if there is no videoteam at all?
Being used to working in front of a camera does not automatically mean a guest is going to be happy to have cameras pointed at them constantly, in fact its understandable if a guest wants to have a break from the cameras!
Question to the mods, will there be a video produced from the weekend of the talks and other events for us to buy?

Some people that are good with Photoshop can basically turn everything into a real looking photo. Make up a picture like Chakotay kissing Tuvok for example. Some guests do think it's funny, but others feel more offended and would not sign that. (I only took those two characters as an example, I have no idea how Robert Beltran and Tim Russ will react.) I've also seen some attendees trying to get photoshopped nude pictures of actresses signed that more or less convincing fake. So in general photo manipulations can be a little tricky. While we are at the subject of nude pictures: Some actresses might refuse to sign FHM pictures or Playboy.
That's the basic examples I can think of from the top of my head. As long as you use your common sense you'll be fine.
Ooh Chakotay and Tuvok? Now they would make an awesome couple.
But seriously, people turn up with photoshopped nudes and expect guests to sign it??

Are some of you big kids taking your little ones to the con? So far Ive only met one person who is!
My two tribbles (3 and 9) are as excited as I am. The eldest cant wait to meet Kate and the youngest is hoping to see 'Beh-nana' Torres, both are still trying to master 'the Vulcan high five'.
If not kids is anyone bringing other family or friends who are trekkies in training?

Hi Methius,
It wasn't my intention to upset, insult or mock you (of course).
If I have made that impression, then I sincerely appologize!
Since there's been a lot of confusion and miscommunication about the times and conditions of the photoshoots, I'm sure the organisers would need to be flexible now.
I can imagine that, after spending the amounts you did, you would like to have all matters clarified a.s.a.p..
I also understand that, considering your investment, you couldn't appreciate my comment about the money-tree.
The request still stands though!
All money-trees should be reported to me!
Doesn't matter, apologies are mine for having been a bit rude.
You would understand my worries...the event is still far and some things are still unclear, Planning such a week-end from Rome under this conditions, with all related flights and hotels, is somehow like a jump in the dark ....however, I'm sure good answers will surely come in time.
I hear that. Im only coming from Wales and it still seems like a jump in the dark! Its Awesome to see so many people coming to the event from accross the world. Im sure we'll all know what were doing by October and its going to be great.

if, in the near future, you have found another one of those money-trees... be sure to inform me as well plz
Could I have a cutting please?

The point is I'm paying, sorry, I've already paid £300 for the privilege of not getting a choice. People who have not paid have all the choice in the world. Preference should have been asked for at the time of ticket package.
But other points are, when we get assigned a day, we can't be there with our friends and families who have booked at a different time. It also doesn't take into consideration that we may have other things to do than be there all weekend. Nowhere have I said or implied that I would be there for ALL weekend and the organisers should not assume this.
People who havent paid may get less choice or no choice at all if all the tickets for talks sell out, so you have that guarantee. Im sure they will allocate you a spot together if you write to them with the ticket numbers.
But as for the organisers not taking into account other things you might have to do, how can they? It would be impossible and logistical madness to consider how thousands of people might plan their weekends, so all they can do is plan so we all get a turn with the assumption ticket holders will be there for the duration of time their ticket lasts.
Might be worth asking them if you can have a specific day when you write in with your ticket numbers?

You know people, we were told to wait until the main office had official answers to our questions and that would be in a few days.
It doesn't do anybody any good putting up mis-information, speculation or their own opinion BEFORE the official answer.
All that does is to foster bad feelings and get people worked up.
If you dont know the answer, and lets be blunt here, if your not Showmasters, then you DONT KNOW THE ANSWER, please stop posting with YOUR OPINION on whats going to happen. This is what causes people to get the worng idea and makes the more upset. You should just follow the instructions and as SM, said WAIT for an OFFICIAL answer. And thats what most of us are doing, or at least thats what I am doing. If would be a good idea not to confuse people with wrong answer and opinion.
Aside from a place to gather information, this is a discussion board Quag and folks are going to talk. I think most people have the ability to tell the difference between an opinion, an informed opinion, speculation and fact. Any confusion can easily be put to a mod here or directly to showmasters. In the meantime, we are here to share our thoughts on all matters DSTL and should feel free to do so, in my opinion.

The corcern about the seating is not the VIP/Platinum in front then Gold and Silver then others (that was always clear) but the fact that the stage might be in the middle and we wont be looking at the actors faces, just their backs or their sides and that we will be too far away, even if I have a Gold pass, to see them.
Thanks
I cant imagine that anyone would be daft enough to stage something where the actors have their back to the audience, thats just a big no no. If they go 'theatre in the round' the actors would have to be up and moving.

Im looking for someone who can make me a dress uniform from Voyager. But as a back up I ordered a 'Deluxe red command jumpsuit (TNG)' from Signature Costume (they sell on Amazon but go direct and you wont have to pay postage) for £39.99 I got this because it was one of the few things that might actually fit me (not much around for a size 6), but because it was so cheap I half expected Id be sending it back.
Im not, it arrived today, is decent quality and fits beautifully, Im really impressed. Comes with plastic com badge I will probably replace but the full set of pips are quality metal. Could be worth a look for those wanting a budget costume, they do all sizes.
On the downside the TOS captains costume I got for my lad was the biggest 8-10 Ive ever seen, fits a small adult. Amazon will be getting that back.

Thank you for the fast reply and info Queen_Sindel!

A friend who wont be able to make the con has asked me to get some autographs for him if possible, is it acceptable to ask the Captains to sign more than one item?
Also, will I need to buy my son an extra ticket to have his picture autographed or can he come in on my ticket?
Thanks.

Ive always said Trekkie and only came accross Trekker a few years back. Personally you can call me what you want, Im too busy enjoying the geek lifestyle to care.
But for those who do care, take a tip from my 3 year old and just say Trekkier. Out of the mouths of babes eh?
