  1. And you don't think people use temporary/throwaway email accounts for this kind of thing? I'm sure not all do but it'd be easy to set one up with no real name and no traceable information to sell stuff. Unless a ticket has a fingerprint or photo on it and only that person can use it you won't stop this. I keep saying it. Many concerts I go to now require a named ticket holder with ID and sometimes even the card that's used to pay. Checks are quick when staff are well organised and it's helped to minimise the problem but not eliminated it. Only tickets linked to a specific person through photo or something can do that.
  2. But many concerts do that and if well organised it doesn't seem to take too much longer. But you're right that industry has been trying different things for years and nothing has worked. Only (probably impractical) answer, only the person whose name is on the ticket possibly photo too can use it when presenting ID. Though you can still fake ID if you really want to go to that effort. The sell back thing, while nice, still won't stop people buying for profit. Don't Glastonbury require you to register with a photo before you're even allowed to try and buy a ticket? That seems to have helped. But is a lot of effort. The problem is actually at the point of purchase. How can you stop people buying just to sell on? Without tying the purchase to ID, photo or DNA lol there's no way to control it.
  3. Surprised some people are so naive that they're shocked about this. It's always happened to a degree. Many concerts I go to now have your name on the ticket and require you to show photo ID. Works well and you just need to allow a little more time to get I but they usually have one person checking ID and then someone wise scanning the ticket once that person lets you past. And they let you take one other person with you. Doesn't stop reselling completely as you just meet up with the person with ID. In my view anyone who can't use a ticket should be allowed to sell back to the ticket agent at face value. There's almost no way of preventing reselling unless you name every ticket and require ID and only allow that person to use the ticket. This would however stop people buying for friends who maybe don't have a credit card. You can try and minimise it but that's all. The concert industry has been trying to address this for years. I had a ticket to see Kate Bush last year. Cost me £145. My name was on it and I had to show ID and the card I paid with I think at the event. But I could have bought 2 and people were still selling their second tickets for around £1000+ for the same area I was sat. So even that didn't stop it. I'm just surprised no one saw this coming especially as soon as it started selling out and people became desperate to get entry tickets but no one else has been able to find a fair way to eliminate it.
  4. And this is another reason why announcements should only be made once everything is finalised and why the hyping up of them can backfire. Just finalise the deal and then make the announcement, don't say there will be an announcement hoping that it will all be done in time.
  5. Sorry but it's extremely clear. On the Event Bright store it says which batch you're buying in the listing. For example, they've sold out of Sigourney Weaver Batch 1 Diamond passes and are now selling Batch 2. Every photoshoot listing also states which batch you're buying and this information is repeated in the email order confirmation and on the tickets themselves. Can't get much clearer. If you mean how the things you get with the pass are split between the days I guess the assumption is you may have to be there all days and there's no guarantee you can get everything in one day. That's my interpretation. Hi there, I agree that the batch/day system is working really well for photo shoots and talks but can I please ask where you found your information that the Batch number on a Diamond Pass determines when you can have your photos taken? I went back and looked at the two listings for Sigourney Weaver on the Eventbrite store but neither say under more information that a batch number ultimately determines your day. I did notice that Batch 1 was listed under event packages whereas Batch 2 (which I would assume is Sunday) is listed under the Friday Photo Shoots section. I also went back to the post announcing Ms. Weaver's attendance and there isn't any information so far as I could see about Batch numbers determining when photo shoots etc. can be taken advantage of. I may have missed this information but I was under the impression that the Diamond Pass, where is guarantees autographs and photos etc., would allow holders to take advantage of these features at any time throughout the weekend. I'm there all weekend so this information hasn't made much of a dent on my plans but it would have been good to see this clearly explained on the Eventbrite site at least. Many thanks, StarkScribbler QS replied before I could but yep, first post of this topic. I agree to an extent it would have been nice to have this clear from the start as surely SM know how the tickets will work before putting them on sale (or at least I'd hope so though a lot of the detail of how things will work does seem to be left to the last minute which is a worry) but I kinda assumed early diamond tickets would likely be on saturday although I also hoped you'd be able to use them at any time over the weekend like a glorified gold pass but it's not an issue.

That's my interpretation. I understand the batch system but since they have decided to put the diamond passes batch 1 on Saturday and batch 2 Sunday I thought I'd give some feedback. I am there all weekend and it isn't something that is relevant to me though it is something being discussed. If they released the batches at the same time and dedicated a day for the photo shoot with a particular batch then people would be able to work around those days - especially for those that are cosplaying different characters for photo shoots Okay, so if I get it, you're saying put Diamond passes on sale for different days at the same time like ordinary photoshoot tickets. Possible I guess.

  8. You are reading correctly, as I already confirmed when you first asked. The changes only affect Gold Passes, a Diamond Pass holder being a good friend is still the same. Thanks, I think it just means I can't use it Sunday being Batch 1 unless I speak to someone about it. That's unlikely to be necessary and all seems clear enough now.
  9. Apologies for duplicating but I asked for clarification of something on page 2 (post 30) and it seems to have been overlooked/lost in the subsequent arguing and indignation that has been going on. Would be grateful if someone could have a look and answer it. Thanks. Link back to it http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89252&p=1932141
  10. To be completely clear, I have a batch 1 Diamond pass for Sigourney. If Diamonds are called for autos first thing on Saturday I don't actually have to go then but can join the queue at any time after that, at least on Saturday (the implication seems to be that I have to use it some time on Saturday as Batch 2 will be on Sunday). It's just that I will have a friend getting a VT and would like to go through together when that number comes up if possible so just want to be absolutely clear I'm reading right and I will be able to just join the queue later in the day with my friend. Thanks.
  11. What does it matter what anyone else thinks? If you think it's worth it, do it, if not, don't. Simple as that. I've bought a diamond pass and am very happy and will probably be getting extra autos on top. I know some people will think I'm nuts, does it bother me? not in the slightest. Do what you feel is reasonable and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.
  12. There won't be massive queues for autographs as they don't let the queues get too big. If you've got Gold then there's seriously nothing to worry about. Honestly, people do photoshoots into double figures on one day and similar number of autos even without a gold pass and manage it. It's just about time management. With gold it's ridiculously easy. Couple of years ago I had 3 photoshoots clash at the same time (short ones too) and easily made them all. Nothing personal, just a general observation from years of attending but people panic far too much on here. It's a long day and if you can hang around and plan your time, there's plenty of time to get lots done.
  13. I'm sorry but there's absolutely no reason why you'd need to change anything if the only other thing you're doing on Saturday is a photo with Sigourney and trying to get her autograph. Just get there early, get a VQ ticket for her and you have the rest of the day to do whatever until your number comes up. Don't understand what the panic is.
  14. Begin uncommonly helpful, if you've correctly added the validation fee it will show on your confirmation email as part of the order above the Total as part of the list of things you've ordered, as in this screen grab from one of my emails. Even if you've ticked all the other boxes, if that doesn't appear on the order summary in the email you haven't paid it. You have to also press the big validation fee image which is screaming at you to do so.
  15. Friend of mine mentioned this very same thing. Seems like a very sensible thing to put in place when tickets are limited. Force people to make sure they have the appropriate entry ticket first . It was always likely that Saturday would sell out given it would be limited numbers and the guests that have been announced but I also don't understand why you'd buy photoshoot or talk tickets for a particular day and not buy the entry too. Being a bit mean, while it's not nice people missing out, all the warning signs were there and really people only have themselves to blame. Thankfully I won't be one of the crew members dealing with anyone turning up on the day who doesn't see the forum and has bought a photo ticket but no entry. I dont want to be the crew member who has to turn away someone who paid £92 for a photoshoot but didn't pay the validation charge! That too though I don't understand how people found it so hard to do that. Yes, the system should do it automatically but honestly, it's not exactly hard to get it right. Yeah, I'm not being sympathetic and SM really should have a better ticketing system that can do things like add a booking fee and because people got it wrong so much we're going to be stuck with a per-ticket charge in future which for most will add up to a lot more than £2.50.

  17. Then don't pay it. A-list guests come with huge fees. Do you really think they could get someone like her and only charge £20 or something? Unrealistic. Personally I think it's actually quite reasonable and was expecting it to be more based on what it's cost at other events she's done. Unfortunately not everyone can afford it and each person has to make a decision on whether they think it's reasonable and can afford it. Meeting any of the guests at these events is a luxury and one that comes at a cost. I'm only meeting 4 so far and two of those are repeats that I could leave to another time if I need to. Sigourney has taken up most of the money I would set aside for this event and I'm hoping there's no one else added I might want. We all have our own circumstances and have to manage within that but there's no-way they could make it any different in this case and that means a lot of people will be unable to meet her, that's just the reality of guests of this stature.
  18. Yes. I'd have to check how things are handled if you went through twice and decided to get the second one on the second go. But if you're voluntarily giving up your priority to experience this with a friend and getting two when you go through with them you definitely won't be punished for being a good friend. Thanks :) I don't mind when I go through if the diamond effectively works like a gold outside the special Diamond call time and you can just join the queue. Don't mind not being taken to the front in that instance, would just like to go with my friend if we can work it right. Just didn't want to miss the benefit of the reduced price in case that was only available during the priority time. I'm guessing as I got one straight away I'll be able to use it on Saturday or is there a chance diamonds will only be able to get autos on Sunday? Maybe that'll be clearer nearer the time.
  19. It was said earlier that only the 2nd will be at reduced price, others will be normal price up to the 5 maximum. I assume the reduced price still applies if you go through later and not necessarily when Diamonds are initially called? Hope to be able to wait for a friends VT number to come up and go through together (I have Diamond) if it all works out.
  20. This might get lost in a busy thread and sorry if it's been answered elsewhere but is it known exactly how Diamond passes work for meeting the guest? Will you have to go in a specific time slot, any time after your number/batch or whatever it is comes up or will it be a fast track, join the queue at any time thing?
  21. I have no idea why it doesn't seem to be the case here. The one time it was done (Jeri Ryan) it was announced with the guest announcement. I am collecting all info and passing it on to the office to be answered. There are some things I just can't answer, and I don't know when I will have a reply. There were pre-booked autograph tickets for Matt Smith a few years back too as I had some :)
  22. One of the very few people I'd consider buying a Diamond pass for and I have. Think it actually works out quite reasonable value, given her cost at other events and especially with Carrie Henn included too. Amazing actress, been in so many great things but it's Alien all the way for me :)
  23. And amazing I think I only want to meet 3 so far and only 1 of those is new.
  24. I had the same issue with Star Trek Deep Space Nine, however I printed one off for myself just in case. I wasn't sure if he would have a Star Trek one only having been in 3 episodes. Glad I did though. He also looked impressed that I had made the effort to get one sorted. Take care, Matty-lad There were DS9 prints but some dealer(s) took them all first thing on Saturday and I understand there were various issues getting more printed. Some friends got to him and walked away because of that and complained to a crew member who did a sterling job of trying to help. Some did appear later on on Saturday but much poorer quality than before. Very disappointing that was allowed to happen so early in the day when it was one of the shows listed on his poster. As much as I agree that it sucks that the dealers took all the pics you wanted, and that this shouldn't be allowed, SM have always said that if there is something specific you want a guest to sign then you are best off bringing it yourself as things like this do happen. While I am aware this is true, I am generally of the opinion that if you list on the poster next to the person the things they've been in, you're encouraging people to meet that person for those things and should have pictures from those things. And keep a supply of them if they run out. Apparently quite a few people were complaining about this, not just my friends. Also I agree dealers should not be allowed to grab everything at the start, if there's some left over at the end of the day then fair enough but limit what they're allowed to take at the beginning of the day before anyone else has had chance. And yes I know they bring in money, pay a lot and get perks for it but there should still be limits. How about saying they have to bring their own pics to get signed and not take loads from the tables? That'd be something.
