Showmasters Admin showmasters Posted September 28, 2012 Showmasters Admin Share Posted September 28, 2012 The Spiral Cage is Al Davison’s account of his life as someone born with severe spina bifida. Published in 1988 by Renegade Press, his professional debut was followed four years later by The Minotaur’s Tale (Gollancz). This second graphic novel was a modern retelling of the Greek myth with the Minotaur recast as someone coping with a disability. The two titles are milestone’s in Davison’s career but they do not characterise his output. Far from being pigeonholed as a creator whose work is defined by his disability, the man sometimes referred to as the Astral Gypsy has made his mark as a writer, penciller, inker, letterer and colourist with contributions to a wide range of titles, among them Crisis, Doctor Who, The Dreaming, Tainted, The Unwritten and Vermillion from such diverse publishers as Dark Horse, Fleetway, IDW, Paradox Press, Vertigo and Tekno Comics
Muthur
Sounds like a wonderful guy. I look forward to meeting somebody who has overcome such problems. Definitely an inspiration to someone who also has spinal problems (although, I must say not so severe) who has done great things!
