Latest Comic Guest Announcement - Kevin Maguire Attending: Friday, Saturday and Sunday Artist: Justice League; Trinity Angels AFTER almost exactly a year of drawing a smattering of covers and pin-ups for both Marvel and DC Kevin Maguire exploded on to the comics scene with the 1987 first issue of Justice League. He remained on the series later retitled Justice League International until 1989 drawing 19 of the first 24 issues, subsequently reuniting with writers Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis to revisit the concept in 2003's Formerly known as the Justice League and in the six-part I Can't Believe it's not the Justice League, which ran in Justice League Classified #4-9 two years later. In between he produced a steady stream of covers alongside the occasional pin-up and fill-in although in 1991 he joined Fabian Nicieza to co-write Adventures of Captain America, a Marvel mini running to four issues of which he also drew the first three. The following year came Team Titans #1-3 for DC and then Strikeback!, a 1994 Malibu miniseries (that he co-wrote and drew) that was completed at Image/WildStorm two years later. In 1997 Maguire moved across to Valiant for which he created Trinity Angels, writing all 12 issues and pencilling the first five and the last. Three years later he reunited with Nicieza for DC's Justice League: Created Equal two-parter and then again the following year for Marvel's six-issue X-Men Forever while also writing and pencilling 2001's Gen13/Fantastic Four. In 2005, following their JLA Classified reunion Giffen, DeMatteis and Maguire moved on to Marvel for a Defenders five-parter after which the artist once again concentrated on covers complemented by the occasional pin-up and filler. That was until 2008 when he illustrated a Nicieza-written five-issue Batman Confidential serial with Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man: The Short Halloween one-shot and the Giffen/DeMatteis-written Metal Men back-ups in in issues #1-4 and 6-7 of DC's Doom Patrol following in 2009. Since then his main projects have been for DC where he illustrated and wrote the Tanga back-up in the six issues of Weird Worlds and of the My Greatest Adventure mini that followed. His most recent interior work was on the first seven issues of 2012's World's Finest on which he shared art credits with George Pérez. Although his storytelling output is limited when compared with that of some of his peers, the artist – who drew 2001's aptly titled Just Imagine Stan Lee with Kevin Maguire creating the Flash one-shot for DC and wrote the first four issues of Dark Horse's 1995 Godzilla comic – is in continual demand for his covers and remains a firm fan favorite.
