Latest Comic Guest Announcement - Bruce Zick Appearing: Fri/Sat/Sun Artist: The Atomic Legion; Mandala; Atlas; Thor Concept artist/visual developer: The Lion King; Finding Nemo; WALL-E BEGINNING in 1979 as a background layout artist on TV's animated Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show, Bruce Zick spent the next 11 years working on a variety of cartoon series, Thundarr the Barbarian, Mister T, Jonny Quest and The Real Ghostbusters among them, before making his comics debut at TSR with contributions to a couple of issues of the games manufacturer's Intruder Comics Module. These he followed rapidly with a four-parter he wrote and drew for Dark Horse Presents while also providing visual development and character design for 1990's The Rescuers Down Under movie. Across the next three years Zick produced a swathe of comics work. As well as the occasional fill-in, he pencilled the first six issues of Marvel's Pirates of Dark Water (which was based on an animated TV series on which, ironically, the artist hadn't actually worked), wrote and drew the two issues of his own Zone Continuum for Caliber and illustrated a couple of issues of Toxic Crusaders for Marvel. On top of that, before resuming his movie career, he produced the three-issue Terminal Point and the Atlas four-parter for Dark Horse and pencilled a nine-issue run on Thor for Marvel. Then followed a long stream films on which he provided visual development, character design and/or concept art. Among them were The Lion King, Pocahontas, Finding Nemo, Titan A.E. and WALL-E. Most recently he worked on The Boxtrolls while he returned to comics in 2014 to draw The Atomic Legion graphic novel for Dark Horse for which he has also illustrated this year's Mandala.
