  1. Wish I could go :D

You arent missing much.....my friend said she was more impressed with my collection than with the stuff we seen today. It seemed to just be some guys collection. Some nice pieces but not enough to warrent a showing in some gallery!!

  2. Why was I unaware of this until now?!

I only found out about it today....I had heard absolutely nowt about it and I'm quite local. By chance, I spotted a small article (basically what is written above) about it in the free local newspaper though it wasnt an advert about it or anything promoting it....it just a small, discrete 2"x 2" article tucked away somewhere!!

  3. I thought you guys might find this of interest......

Until Tuesday 21st April, the Cadzow Gallery in Chatelherault Country Park, Hamilton, Lanarkshire is displaying a collection of costumes, props, cinema posters and Collectables, many of them originals from such films as Terminator, Star Wars, Alien, Robocop and Doctor Who.

    I'll be heading over tomorrow!!

Mod Edit: From SJ, there is a link further down that states this display is open from April 4th to 21st June... not sure which is correct, but figured I'd edit this info into the first post just in case it is still open!

  4. I quite liked the remake......though I think it was more of a visual feast than a literal one. I loved the make up and costumes....thought they were fantastic!!

  5. Thank you for the kind words guys!!

Love those sig-series lightsabers.....especially the Vader one. It would look great infront on my Vader helmet!! I used to have the MR Maul saber aswell but I sold it!!

Im looking forward to starting my Ironman display. Ive got the Sideshow lifesize bust on order along with a replica MKI chestpiece from the movie (a replica of the pressie Pepper Potts gives Tony) and Ive got a few IM paper props away getting framed so hopefully everything will be here within the next 3 or 4 weeks........cant wait!! :(

  6. Seeing a you guys are kind enough to post lotsa cool pics, I thought Id stick some up aswell then!!

    :YAHOO:

I know a few guys who have met BC at shows down south and they all say he was great fun and a top bloke!!! :YAHOO:

  8. Thanks for the replies guys.....it defo seems like cosplay is a main factor (so far anyhoo)!! Cocomando, you say you also like to make your own props.....are those props based on your passion for all things Mandalorian or do you venture down different avenues when making your props?? Sorry for being so nosey but......Im just a nosey begger Im afraid!! :YAHOO:

At this moment Im sitting with two kits I really need to get built up......unfortunately, Im not the best model maker in the world. One is a Fifth element Multipass kit and the other is a Terminator T-850 Powercell kit from T3 and the hardest bit of that will be finding someone who can chrome plastic!! :YAHOO:

I was gonna post pics of my collection but I dont wanna fill your lovely forum with tons of pics (just incase I upset the mods/admin) so here is a link to my collection if you fancy a goosey gander..........

    Robert Llewellyn (Kryten: Red Dwarf)

Clare Grogan (Kristine Kochanski: Red Dwarf)

  10. I enjoyed myself this year at the event and it does seem to get better show to show.

For myself I would like to see more stalls that offer less trading cards/comic books and offer more movie replica items, I.e Master Replicas, EFX and all the other major players.

I relise that everyone has their favorite items for their collections and this is my favorite I have a modest collection and would like to expand it as getting items in the UK is getting more difficult.

I also liked the idea of have actual movie props on display if this could be expanded upon that would be great, either more prop displays or vehicles from movie/tv shows.

Looking forward to the next event.

    Barry

I agree....I always find these events great fun but its very few and far between when I find something I'd really like to buy (Im a prop and prop replica head). Usually I just leave with one or two signed 8x10s eventhough I always go hoping to find something a little special but unfortunately I very rarely do!!

    Paul

PS. Youre not Barry (old Import Forums member from Livingston) are you?

  11. Seeing as I'm a newbie, I thought I'd start this thread just to get an over all idea of what you guys are into most? I myself, am a collector of props and prop replicas. Ive never ventured into the cosplay side of things but thats not to say its not 'my bag'. Ive always wanted to get myself a good sci-fi based costume but Ive never really decided on which one Id like to have. In the end though, I think it would be a toss up between Darth Vader (though I'm only 5'8" ), Darth Maul or Neo..........that is, if I ever actually get around to it!!

So, when you guys go to these shows, are you there because its an event where you can meet up with fellow cosplayers or are you more like myself, someone who hopes to find that something extra special for their collection??

    Paul :YAHOO:

  12. Thought Id join in here!!!

    My fave Sci-Fi movies are..........

Terminator Trilogy (cant wait for T4)

    Star Wars

    The Fifth Element

    Alien / Aliens

    Predator 1 & 2

What about movies like Ironman and The Incredible Hulk......I know they are comic book/super hero movies but they are fundimentally Sci-fi, dont you think??

  13. This newbie here will be going aswell..........

Though I could be tempted with that something special if I find it!!:D

    Paul.

  14. Hi guys, Ive just discovered this place through my search for some info on the forthcoming Glasgow show and thought Id sign up and say hello. My name is Paul, Im new to the whole collectormania thing, Im from Motherwell which is just outside Glasgow and Ive been a movie related collector in some way, shape or form for about 15 years now. Ive progressed through the collecting of videos through to dvds which in themselves have always been the heart of my collection. About 4 years ago I discovered the expensive world of limited edition dvds and that took my collection to a whole new level. Having actually collected almost every LE dvd that I wanted, I found myself starting to compliment my more favourite dvds with some sorta collectible like a 12" figure here, a 1:24 scale movie car there but that was just the beginning. Discovering the likes of Sideshow, Weta, Cinema Replicas etc, my wallet was starting to wimper under the strain.....but it was all for a good cause!!!!

My recent interest is screen used props and prop replicas though Im still kinda new to it all.

Anyhoo, Im looking forward to the Glasgow show and having a bit of banter here with you guys!!! :pyth:

For a goosey gander at my collection, have a wee look here.........
