I have to say for the first one in Cardiff, I think it was good. What shocked me the most was that there were still people queuing to get in at quarter to three! We were just leaving so were amazed to see this, especially as there are never any queues come lunchtime in London! I have to say I think we all underestimated just how popular this would be, but it is fantastic to see such interest in the show!
I've not seen dealer table congestion like that since (as I mentioned) the last few MKs in the centre. That event took a good few years to outgrow the space it had. This feels like it's done it in one day.
I know you guys sold more pre-booked than ever for a first time event, but were the on-the-day numbers as suprising to you as they were to me. It seemed likethe event was ready for a lot less people than that (despite everything running fine).
Next year with good word of mouth and such from this event, you'll egt even MORE people. And based on this weekend and the venue size, I worry that it's alreayd too small.
We arrived about 2.30 or 3 pm and were shocked by the size fhe queue. I briefly went inside (I needed to check something out at the information booth) and found the venue packed out. It felt a bit claustrophobic to be honest. So as my partner only wanted to meet one actor (who wasn't one of the main guests) we went away again , had something to eat, and came back about an hour later, when, much to our relief , it was quieter. My partner got to spend 10 minutes chatting to the guest who had an empty queue by then, and we spent the next 2 hours browsing the dealers stalls. It was still busy, but not to the point of discomfort, which it had been earlier

I've got a ticket for the Saturday Tour.
Do I also need to get a ticket for the convention on Saturday as well? We're planning on attending the con on Sunday, but not sure about Saturday yet (depends on guest times)

She has been to JB concerts so I don't suppose it will be much bluer (like panto the cheekier stories go over her head)
I've been to numerous JB concerts and most of the previous Showmasters TW conventions
The Hub conventions have been a hell of lot bluer than JB's concerts.
The panels at TW conventions always started with a reminder that TW is an adult show, and lived up to that warning.

I just booked, But was told the cost is £69.50 per room per night, not the £68 stated.

Russell T Davies (i can dream)
RTD has got far more important things on his mind than TW at the moment. He has put his career on hold to care for his seriously ill partner.

It would be great if he was a guest !!!

er, where was anyone trying to change the date of hub5? (especially as I said I've already booked!)

I know, but I'm just saying that that is one of the factors that might affect the number of attendees. NOT that Barrowman would otherwise have attended the hub, but that there are fans of TW who would normally go to a TW convention whether Barrowman was there or not, but who are also fans of Barrowman and would not want to miss his concerts to do so.
Actually the reason Im going to the Hub is the JB tour! I was so happy to see that I could fly over to the UK and do both the Hub and two of the concerts. I don't think I would (or could have afford) to have gone over just for the con itself this time. It's perfect when two things I love is around the same time!
It's fortunate (and nice) that its economical for you to combine the two events. To me, unfortunately, it was an additional cost, and a bit of a logistical headache!

It might help next time if the Hub wasn't during Barrowman's tour!. We are going to the Hub, but this time didn't book straight away, and didn't book gold like we normally do. In fact we only decided to definitely go to the Hub a few days ago, when we figured we could just about squeeze it in (both physically and financially) between Barrowman's opening night on the Friday and his Royal Albert Hall concert on the Monday!
I'm not really sure something like that can be taken into account alongside dates available for venues, and other guests availability etc.
It's unfortunate that it has fallen that way, but I don't think it's something that will be high on the priority list for timings.
