  1. Ya see, THAT works, that's cool, don't think the Spice Girls would look as good, sorry!!!!!! :(

Oh I don't know.. would be interesting to see stormtroopers in Geri Halliwell's flag dress, or Emma's white dress, or Mel B's leopard print outfits.... ;)^_^

Now when you put it like that, I could possibly see the potential!!!!! :(

    Sounds seeeexy!

Me as Babydoll, Jemma (Vamp_Rouge) as Madame Gorski, and Leanne as Rocket. just posting these on this thread too :)

I know what you're saying about the cosplayers that are 'attractive' or 'got more on show' get more attention, and i think i certainly know who you're talking about, and yes i agree to an extent. but i think you need to cut some people some slack, my costume is probably considered 'a little risque' and i did get alot of attention, but that was certainly not my intention. most game/film/comic characters have outfits like that! i can assure that even though i might not look it, im the biggest nerd. so it would be nice not to stereotype everyone! :)

Thanks for posting the pics Jerri-Kay! I'll get some of my pictures of other cosplayers up soon. They're all on facebook as that's easy to upload to but I don't keep my albums public so I'll photobucket them for here.

In response to the Pretty Ladies in Costume attention getting thing, it's such a difficult topic to get a handle on really. I quoted Jerri as I totally agree with her on not stereotyping people. In "everyday life" people who don't know me are surprised when they realise what a geek I am. People consider me attractive and for some reason geek + attractive doesn't seem right to people. So, of course, when I decide to Cosplay, and I try to make the outfits as accurate as possible, I get attention. It's hard because if the character's costume is revealing then if you make it less-so you're not getting the details right, and I like to get the details. But then you have to decide how comfortable in your skin you are and if you want to try and make it slightly more modest.

I was Batwoman on saturday afternoon which is one of my favourite costumes because I love the character. Originally I was worried about wearing a skin-tight catsuit for it as I didn't want to feel flabby all day but I actually find it pulls me in so I don't mind. lol

I was The Other Jessica Rabbit cosplayer on sunday and I got a lot of attention, mainly from men, which is to be expected. Attention IS flattering but it's not why I cosplay. I've actually loved Jessica Rabbit since I was a kid and so it's been a life-long need for me to dress as her. I'm glad I finally got the chance. But I did it for myself more than anyone else. But yes, it's a balancing act between being aware you're GOING to get attention when you dress like that and being flattered by the polite people who want pictures, to dealing with the idiots who want a picture with a "hot lady" and go too far. *cough*skeevey EC employee who wouldn't stop asking me to kiss him on the lips in a picture even after I explained that was my GIRLFRIEND taking the picture for you, translation: I'm gay and even if I was straight, no.*cough*

Annnyway, yes, there are girls out there that I'm sure do it for the male attention. But the majority of attractive female cosplayers I know do it because they're also massive geeks and the attention (when from nice people) is an added bonus.

    Everything you said = YES.

Who ever came up with the idea is just a genius!!!

That may be the single greatest image I have ever seen....pure gold! The only thing that could possibly make that any better, would be the random inclusion of a lollipop lady.

and some beatles music playing in the background.

I'm thinking there's a project in this for future events....how many album covers can be recreated with cosplayers. Let's make it happen!

Oh I wanna do a Spice Girls cover... sorry guys!

  4. Should I wear something stupid so people can tell I'm a Hubbie? lol

No need to wear something stupid. Most people will expect someone lugging a suitcase to be heading to the con. I can probably meet you at the station if you really want?

    That might be an idea!!

Remind me of what time you're due in and I'll see what I can do :)

    4.35 :)

  5. Is Lionel Ritche's 'Dancing On The Ceiling' 80's? and oh we must have Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody'

    Yup, both are!

And when they play either of them I will be disappearing to the bar! Not my fave 80s things to say the least.

lol one of the few 80's songs I can bare! I dislike 'spam rock' as I call it!

Saying that can we have please 'God Gave Rock and Roll To You' by Kiss? Bill and Ted FTW!!

With you on the 'spam rock' actually - can't stand that either but have learned to tolerate it over the years!

And yeah, Bill and Ted FTW!!!

I do hope you realised the censor filter kicked in and it wasn't meant to be 'spam'!! lol

  6. Oh well, least there's only two of us... so far at least. Unlike the four red riding hoods lol.

we have compitition now though to be the best one lol, I'll fail!

  7. Wow, sounds very cool! ^_^ Will look forward to seeing that.

I'm going to be Alice in Wonderland for Saturday, from the new movie, am frantically sewing a dress...

    DAMN YOU!

What?! lol Are you doing the same?

My own twisted version of Alice!

    DAMN YOU!

  11. Thanks everybody!!

It's a really quick walk with not many corners to get lost on. You'll be fine following amrun_gessir's directions above. Plus there probably will be a few fellow Hub people arriving around the same time so you can follow/buddy up with them :)

Should I wear something stupid so people can tell I'm a Hubbie? lol

  12. How dressy are you guys going for the Drinks Reception? I've got an idea of what I want to wear but I don't want to look overdressed :/

Well I'm dressing up because I'm going straight to the party - not costume dress, just dressed up

I just saw the schedule on sat and I'm surprised the talk isn't Eve, Kai and Cush together
