  1. I hear there will also be lots of Bond guests in Birmingham in November :firedevil:

It always happens when a new Bond movie comes out, but I'm confident C10 will knock seven shades out of both the others. They just get their guests from one of the big Bond agents wholesale. SMs consistently go after the biggies off their own bats, and have often done Bond fans proud.

    Alan Cumming

    John Rhys Davies

    Yaphet Kotto

    Irvin Kirshner

    Samantha Bond

Honour Blackman's only two show signings to date

The other shows are rair enough, but you can only have so many Caroline Munros and Valerie Leons !

Apart from Kotto that's hardly a Bond guest roll of honour when you take in to consideration Nov 2002 in Birmingham.

Dufresne and Dr Jones are blatantly using this forum to advertise another event, something which I thought was banned.

One rule for a few, another rule for the rest of us I suppose.

  2. Having seen the result of one of the Elijah photo ops, I can honestly say that if that photo had been mine and I'd have paid £25 for it (or however much it was), I'd have been totally fecking ballistic and shouted the place down until I got a refund. It was an awful quality shot.

He looked like a ventriloquist's dummy with the attendee's hand shoved up his bottom. If this is the best Showmasters can do, they got problems.

So your problem is more with the way Elijah 'looks' rather than the actual quality of the shot? They can't exactly make him look any different :D

I have no problem with the way Elijah "looks" as you put. But for any half decent professional photographer, and I assume whoever took these photos was professional, basic composition is a pre-requisite.

You don't sit someone who's short on a chair, and have the attendee standing behind them in a position that make the guest look like a cross between Jimmy Krankie and Lord Charles.

The photo I saw was crap. Period.

I know that myself and a few others well and truly saw this coming.

Something happened this week which we picked up on, something which has happened before.

No one else here seems to have sussed.

Coincedence or not? You can all decide.

Want to share with the group? I hate it when people just post and run. If you've got a point to make - politely make it and let people decide for themselves. Don't just make cryptic statements and run away. What's the point of that?

As one of my able associates pointed out, the forum also went down for about 3 days before GMex last February. Hey presto, the forum comes back up on the Friday before the event with a nice big "Guest Cancellation: Ian Somerhalder" slapped on it.

Again too late for anyone to cancel hotel bookings without losing their money.

I think Showmasters need to come up with a new plan cos that one ain't working anymore.

  5. Unfortunately we regret to announce that due to a minor incident in which he injured his leg, Christopher Lee will no longer be able to attend LFCC this weekend. I know that this will come as a disappointment to many of you (and indeed to us as we were very much looking forward to working with him), however we will be working to bring him to a future event. We would like to pass on Mr Lee's regret that he cannot join you tomorrow but he is looking forward to attending at a later date.

We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to working with him in the future.

  6. At last the Showmasters autograph charging structure has been thrown to the dogs so you can all have a standard of guest that you were originaly promised when this event went to once yearly, and what happens? "I can't afford it", "it's too much money" etc etc

God help you all if and when Hamill's ever announced. If you think £45 is steep. . .sheesh.

Anyway, he'll go probably go home after 2 hours like he did at his last public signing. :P

  7. Gates McFadden £20 :o:unsure:

    Maggie Grace £20 :o:unsure:

My thoughts exactly, especially Gates McFadden.

Only one signiture from each of them for me, me thinks.

When has Gates charged anything other than £20?

She's always been that amount at every event I've ever met her at. As I understand it, all the TNG main cast, with the exception of Denise Crosby, charge the same out of fairness to each other.

    Even Patrick only charges £20.

  8. And before anyone steps in and says something like, "no-one makes you spend that much etc......" im not moaning at all and indeed not saying I regret anything, just interested to know am I the only one in this kind of ball park. Just added up everything and found the following:

1: Ibis on Friday and Sat = £128 and

    2: car park = £28

    3: Gold Pass £175

4: Autos = £120 (Dreyfuss, Wood, Fisher and Mayhew, Lost 2

    5: Petrol = £40

    total: £491

(not including food etc to so PROBABLY £600 after all is done)

anyone else having to re-mortagage their houses to go or am i the only one to get anywhere near this figure? :D

As a lighthearted comment, you're clearly a bit miffed at the amount you're spending, otherwise you wouldn't have raised the matter.

Seriously though, as you rightly pointed out, no one but you made you spend a ridiculous amount of money on a completely unecessary gold pass. Dare say you only have yourself to blame, old chap.

  9. considering that its taken over an hour to get 2 responses?

    not likely :P

EDIT - i however would be VERY glad of the chance which i'm assuming will re-arise - SM have so many guests (big and small) who come back at some point or other :P

I know it's not likely. :P Anyway, just wait until the hoard arrives on about 8pm. Then you'll get the usual crowd posting what a great guest announcement they think this is.

  10. Having Hamill would only work if a set number of autograph tickets were pre-sold in advance so that you could in theory be guaranteed that you wouldn't be farmed past him like cattle.

At say £40 a ticket, you would have to be guaranteed a photo with Hamill if you wanted one, and at least 30 seconds to have a chat.

But of course this won't happen as "the push as many people through as possible" mentality will always prevail with Showmasters, and if and when Hamill appears, it will be of course be utter chaos as happened with Elijah Wood and Shatner.
