The important thing of course is that we're getting some great announcements.
clifton is a dream come true for me - my first big screen bond experience as a kid

I assumed it was the horror guest.
So did I, but wanted to check.
So we know what level of fame to be thinking about.
-
Our main guest of the whole event is probably the name on wednesday night.
At least i hope you think so !!!.
Dave - when you said this, did you mean the horror guest will be the main guest
or the other guest you will be announcing on wed?
-
OK, heres a recap of the clues for the horror guest -
--------
I am very pleased to announce that next week we will be revealing a superb guest for all you horror fans.
A worlds first for Autographica and a bonus for anyone who likes being scared to death.
--------
All guesses so far are wrong wrong wrong.(referring to C Lee and Evil Dead)
This was a very scary movie and is one of the classics.
--------
don't forget wednesday night we announce our killer horror guest.
-----------
The evil will soon be upon us
------
It's not Roy Scheider or anyone from Jaws
One thing i will say is that you will love this guest, as horror films go it is one of the best. This is a real mans horror movie not one of those girlie imitations with childish monsters running around in plastic masks.
You are Cold cold cold (note - max von sydow was mentioned before this post)
---------
d-Nothing to do with Texas chainsaw massacre
jw -But you didnt say nothing to do with the Wicker Man Dave (referring to edward woodward)
d - no I Didn't did i
jw-Ladies and gentlemen we may have a winner.Maybe
d-And maybe not !!!!!!
------------
It is not Christopher Lee O.K
Heres the info you need.
On Wednesday we will announce another 2 including our world's first horror guest.

Calumn Posted Today, 04:51 PM
I think you'd got those bang on.
Dave is beaten again
Hes gonna start hating me
If its Edward Woodward on wed then dave won't speak to me again
Or - hes probably got a big surprise up his sleeve.
-
We are looking for a footballer.
Not a current one.
This player was in the England world cup 66 squad.
His nickname was the cat.
Peter Bonetti
I claim my prize of a free auto
So, my guesses for tonights 3 -
Clifton James, Pamela Sue Martin and Peter Bonetti.
-
And maybe not !!!!!!
You're just being cruel to me now for guessing Clifton James and Pamela Sue Martin
Its a fun way to do the announcements though.
Looking forward to finding out for sure who you've got for us. As i said to you back at M Keynes in May, you never fail to surprise us with some great first timers.
So, lets think. It may be Edward Woodward -
or
it may be someone we're all overlooking.
-
No I Didn't did i
Ladies and gentlemen we may have a winner
Maybe

very true, i met rik mayall (bottom, young ones etc) a couple of weeks back and he was just such a nice guy. Took time with all his fans, and gave everyone a good laugh.
I was lucky enough to meet Rik too a few years ago - he was great then too. Couldn't have been more nice.
I met Lee Evans after seeing The Producers last Nov too - I can't recommend him highly enough for fans to meet. He was superb. Had time for everyone, signing, having pics taken. Stayed for ages and was funny too. He'd been a true star on stage all night, but then was so down to earth with us. Then rode off on his bicycle after he'd made sure everyone got an autograph.
I think with comedy stars lots have had to come up through stage work - acting or stand up - and so maybe thats why lots of them are more in touch with their audience, and more friendly and down to earth.
Really would be cool to meet a few more so fingers crossed that Autographica get some.
-
Who would be good to get?
One of the announcements tomorrow will be for a sports guest. I really like meeting the great sports legends. And the auto values of the greats can skyrocket in time. At previous Autographicas they've had some very good guests from sports history - 1966 England players, Fred Truman, Alex Stepney, Mick Jones, Allan Clarke, Alan Minter, etc. But theres only a handful of shows where we can meet these stars. And quite often theres not many big name first timers now for sports at UK signing shows. So it would be very good to have some great ones at Autographica. Who would be good to get from the past greats? Heres some that I'd like to see -
Football
Pelé - obviously this would be a huge guest to get. Very hard to get him, but he would of course be one of the most popular guests ever at a UK show. He's done private signings, and he's made appearances at Old Trafford (to open megastore) and Middlesbrough (for a photo exhib on him) in recent years.
Any of the other surviving members of Brazil 1970 team, often voted the greatest team ever
Other football greats -
Alfredo di Stefano
Ferenc Puskas
Eusebio
Sir Tom Finney - one of Englands greats. He's done book signings in recent years.
Nat Lofthouse
Bill Perry - scored the winning goal in the legendary 1953 Cup Final
Cyril Robinson - another legend from the 1953 Cup Final
Jimmy Armfield
Mario Kempes - he's done a UK signing before, but never been at Autographica
Paulo Rossi
Dino Zoff
Gerd Muller
And something different - for 1966 collectors who have now got the autographs of the 1966 England players, it would be good to have some of the German players from that famous match attend shows. After all, it takes two great teams to make a classic final and it would be something new for '66 collectors.
And something else different for '66 collectors - Dave Corbett (owner of Pickles the dog who found the stolen World Cup before the 66 finals)
Motor sports
Sir Stirling Moss - any sports fan would like to meet him, but I don't think any show has had him yet
Sir Jackie Stewart
Niki Lauda
Mario Andretti
Murray Walker - hes done book signings in recent years
John Surtees
Jack Brabham
Carl Foggerty
Kenny Roberts Sr
Olympic greats
Mark Spitz
Carl Lewis
Olga Korbut
Nadia Comaneci
Steve Ovett
Daley Thompson
Duncun Goodhew
Alan Wells
Mary Peters
Cricket - always good to get as guests and even more so at this moment
Ian Botham
Bob Willis
(they'd be good together, signing 1981 Ashes photos)
Sir Garfield Sobers
Sir Viv Richards
Dennis Lillee
Geoffrey Boycott
Richie Benauld
Dickie Bird
Tennis
Bjorn Borg
Rod Laver
Ilie Nastase
obviously I'd also say John McEnroe and Boris Becker but very hard to get them. They have done book signings though.
Rugby
Bill Beaumont
JPR Williams
Gareth Edwards
David Campese
Cycling
Eddie Merckx
Horse racing
Lester Piggott
Willy Carson
Snooker
Alex Higgins
Commentators/presenters
Dickie Davies
Harry Carpenter
David Coleman
John Motson
--------
and
Geoff Capes (the most capped British male athlete of all time)
--------
Theres also lots of boxing ideas in Crostini's thread HERE
Any other sporting greats you'd like to see at the show?
-
Nothing to do with Texas chainsaw massacre
But you didnt say nothing to do with the Wicker Man Dave
-
It's hard to think of great horror guests who have never done a show before, as there are so many great horror cons put on in the states with amazing stars in the lineup.
Yes exactly what i was thinking.
Edward Woodward would fit - hes in a proper horror classic and ive never known him to do a signing show. He'd be a cool guest to get. (I was in the audience when he was interviewed on tv a few years ago though so i've seen him once. He was great).
-
Met Ronnie after the show - what a legend ! Signed his book for me
Brilliant - glad you enjoyed it. And definitely one of the real good guys.
I met david kelly a couple of months back, he's a really nice guy.Cool. I've not met him but would like to.
Sums it up though doesnt it - not only are they great comedy stars, but most comedy stars are very friendly with fans too. In my experience anyway. Just the kind of guest we like the best - we're thrilled to meet them - and they're friendly back to us.
-
One thing i will say is that you will love this guest, as horror films go it is one of the best. This is a real mans horror movie not one of those girlie imitations with childish monsters running around in plastic masks.
Thank goodness, give us the real thing anyday.
If its a real horror film could be The Wicker Man.
So maybe its Edward Woodward.
Or - maybe they've finally tracked down Harvey Stephens, Damien in the Omen (although the Omen was mentioned earlier and Daves saying cold cold cold).
-
rainmac -
possibly got it -
Pamela Sue Martin
Shes in Poseidon Adventure
in the 70s she played Nancy Drew on tv (doesn't that character wear a rainmac?)
and she was going to be at another show the same weekend as Autographica but now shes not
(the bit about not being quite fast enough to get her, but now shes coming)
So,
my guesses -
Clifton James & Pamela Sue Martin
-
rainmac -
Red Buttons was in a 60s tv show called The Double Life of Henry Phyfe, which was about spies. So maybe he wore a rainmac in that.
And hes in Poseidon.
He'd be a brilliant guest.
-
Bond -
the rolling clue earlier in this thread must refer to the great rolling car stunt.
So it has to be Clifton James.
Fantastic guest if it is. Wanted to meet him ever since I was a kid. And my fave type of Bond guest, the really memorable characters.
-
rainmac actor -
maybe Ernest Borgnine, Robert Englund, Leslie Schofield
-
Bond guest - I'm hoping its Clifton James (Sheriff J.W. Pepper)
he fits all the clues -
appeared in two Bond movies as the same character.
This person has never done a U.K signing.
This person is one of the most recognizable Bond characters ever.
-
Bernard Cribbins would be great. And cool for animation collectors too because of his Wombles work.
Some more:
Neil Innes
Sally Thomsett
Peter Bowles
Lionel Jeffries
Sir Donald Sinden
Amanda Barrie
Sheila Hancock
Pam Ayers
Anna Quayle
Julia McKenzie
Anton Rodgers
Frank Carson
Jim Bowen
Tom O'Connor
Roy Walker
Russ Abbot
Lennie Bennett
Stan Boardman
Mike Reid
Dennis Waterman, Glynn Edwards (Minder)
Pauline Yates, Sue Nicholls (Reginald Perrin)
Tessa Wyatt, Tony Britton, David Kelly (Robin's Nest. And David Kelly plays Grandpa Joe in Charlie and the Choc Factory)
George Logan (the surviving half of Hinge and Bracket)
Peter Gilmore (11 Carry On films)
Peter Rogers - legendary producer of the Carry On films. Now aged 91. Still involved in Carry On and still works at Pinewood Studios.
Jack Douglas, Angela Douglas, Sally Geeson, Carol Hawkins all do signing shows
And so does Carol Cleveland whos been at Autographica before.
Python - hard to get any of them. But Terry Jones might be a possibility. He does UK talks and book signings. And Michael Palin has done a lot of book signings in the last year too.
-
Yeah i'd like to see him at an event.
In one
In two
In any of the SM/Autographica shows.
