    Guest cancellation Amanda Tapping

    First of all: :( ... Amanda was the reason to plan a holiday and come over to England for that weekend.

     

    Oh dear - I know three people coming from Europe and two from the US just to meet her :(

     

    We kept reading the cryptic comments on the announcement thread as she's cancelled every single other MK event as far as we can remember. It seemed that it was going to be okay this time, but like many other things in life, it appears that you know only if you're in the know.

     

    I've only lost a photo shoot, the money for which I'll get back; my friends may feel that they have wasted a great deal of money as she was the guest for them, if they still come that is. As the C-Mania site is still down, I'm now going to have to call them and tell them... great.

     

    I'm trying to be pragmatic about this - after all, what have we really got to complain about, etc., but this is quite frankly a bummer. I can't help but wonder if there was ever any intention of her attending.

     

    Sorry, but that's just the way I happen to feel about it.

     

    Clara.. who in all honesty probably won't come now, again, sorry.

     

    About that... I'm traveling from Europe to England (same for quite a lot of my friends), too and I can realte to the anger of your friends, BUT there are still great SG guests announced and the weekend will be loads of fun, as convention weekends usually are... I mean I only see some of my friends at cons and even with Amanda not coming... it is what YOU make out of the weekend.

     

    Personally I haven't heard about a lot of conventions cancelled by Amanda... hmm... she did cancel all the Europe events back in 2004... which was because of her pregnancy. But next to that... nothing really comes to my mind... and I'm pretty sure she would never do that deliberatly to her fans.

     

    Not totally unexpected, but a real pity. She'll be back in the future.

     

    I really hope so!!!

    And only consoled but the fact that I will still be attending a Awesome event - - - - - - :YAHOO:

     

    and there is yet a glimmer - there is still Con's this year, and she would want to promote season 2.....

     

    Sanctuary for all.....

     

    Hint - wouldn't it be great to get Ammanda - and the rest of the sanctuary cast in the country at the same time - lets say .... late october....... with SM/ME . . . . . .

     

    Yay on the promoting Sanctuary part... I so hope you manage to reannounce her somehow.

    I dunno, but isn't Amanda Down Under in October?!? I don't see that materialize... :(

     

    Any chance of getting Amanda Tapping for London?????

     

    I HAVE to do some whining here... please don't announce her for something TOO close to an event... As there are people from the mainland who popably would want to come :( ... and flight/ train prices rise immensely if you only can book at short notice :(

    Where to stay

    Hi everyone.

     

    My question is where is everyone staying as i would love to do the whole weekend and go to the party thingy. But i need somewhere to stay. It would need to be near the stadum as i don't drive and would be walking there.

     

    Any ideas?

    We'll stay in the Premier Inn South which is pretty close to the stadium. Room prices are quite reasonable there.

    --> Viggo Mortensen (is he doing conventions??)

    --> Mitch Peleggi

    --> Bruce Boxleitner

    --> Hugh Laurie

     

    Those are just blokes... hmm what happened to the women???... ah yeah I know... you have announced my fav already so...

    Don't forget Lexa (AKA Mrs Shanks), Kate Hewlett (AKA Little sister), Vaitiare Bandera (AKA Mrs Jackson), Suanne Braun (Hathor), Anna-Louise Plowman (Sarah\Osiris), Jacqueline Samuda (Nirrti), Claire Rankin (Dr. Kate Heightmeyer), Jill Wagner (Larrin)

     

    OK most of these are recurring rather than regular characters, but any one of them would be great to see.

     

    And let's not forget Vanessa Angel (AKA Anise/ Freya)... even if I don't like her character!

     

    I dunno maybe the lack of women in SG can be explained @ least for SG1 that there aren't - compared to the number of men - a lot of women in the AirForce. So it made perfect sense for me to not have a lot of woman on Stargate SG-1. And with having Claudia & Amanda on SG1 in the 10th season I personally can't complain.

    And there are more women in Atlantis than have been on SG1... not in the leading roles but there are quite a few on the expedition. And in season 4 we had with Amanda, Rachel & Jewel 3 females in the leading roles.

    Is she a first time signer in the UK? I thought she'd done one before? I dunno, I pay no attention to TV shows or their guests but she seems to quite a big announcment for a TV show guest.

     

    I think it's her first Collectormania... but she did a couple of other events in England since 2000. And yeah she's quite a big announcement :P

     

     

    Also she has quite a bunch of very loyal fans who are quite happy to see her returning as well.

    yep, very excited. I've met her 4 times before, and she's just wonderful!

    I'll def. be traveling to the UK, even though I have exams

    But hey 1 day won't hurt, right + it's Amanda

     

    Wait and see when your exams will actually take place honey!!! I still have some hope left that you could come with us for the whole weekend!!! And yes... it's Amanda :wub: and it's seeing YOU again :wub: + :D

    That would be soooo cool... I'd love to meet Chris, Robin, Emilie and Ryan (!!!) but I'd also give everything to meet Martin Wood!!! He's soooo cool or Damian Kindler and I've read somewhere that there are gonna be panels @ the weekend so there's a chance that one of them is coming along... :unsure:

     

    She really is one of the nicest people you can ever meet.

    That's not quite likely!!! He's doing the cons he's doing to collect money for his charity 'Sea Shepherd Conservation Society' or to promote the new SG films ... I really don't think he'll ever attend other conventions. As much as I wish he would!!! :thumbup:

     

    And Her Site say's she is signing on all 3 days That is excellent

     

    I don't think she'll do the whole 3 days... I read somewhere that she has other plans for Sunday. But nothing official. But Friday and Saturday would be cool. B)

    [Me too, but with her attending Collectormania, is it at all possible for her to attend this too? How unlikely is it?

     

    With the convention schedule Amanda is doing next year I don't think that it's very likely, too. But I'm not giving up hope. :unsure:

    With her coming to England in June and November already I'll see her at least TWICE next year which is keepin' it on top of it... :thumbup:
