  1. I went along on Sunday with my husband, we got there at about midday but I didn't find it cold at all, i'm to be honest quite perplexed about the comments saying it was freezing!?!

Anyhow, we should have got there much earlier as it was too crowded for my liking to have a good browse around, especially the dealer room, the sheer volume in there made it impossible to stop and stand and look around.

Being in a football stadium my husband was really disappointed at the lack of sports stars especially the football players. In comparison to the event at the Ricoh stadium last November this was a very poor turn out.

However, he was thrilled to meet Sir Geoff again and had a nice ten minute chat with him, unfortunately Martin Peter's wife had a fall that morning so he opted understandably to stay at home with her. Gordon banks unforunately spelt his name wrong on a photo and he particulary wanted to meet Sir Henry Cooper, and as we were ready to leave once obtaining his autograph we then had to wait an hour and a half to Mr Cooper to return, but with very few other football/sports guests to meet we and many others were very bored just hanging around waiting for him to return.

If i'm honest we don't go to these events for the Sci-fi guests and most of them we hadn't even heard of, but judging by the amount of people dressed up it seems a lot of people had a great time.

  2. Good news! I was at a Jimmy Greaves show last night and talking to Freda Baker who runs the A1 sporting speakers that represents the Team of 66, Pele etc. She was saying that they are sending down a number of football players including George Cohen, Geoff Hurst etc to the Milton Keynes show in June.

It just hasn't been announced yet.

  3. Given the next Collectormania is at the MK Dons football ground, what is the likely of a big sports turnout this time around?

The team of '66 with Bobby Charlton included would be a terrific start!

  4. It was my first show and we went mainly for the sports stars. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the team of '66, found them all awfully charming, and would definately go to another sportsmania event.

We travelled over 300 miles round trip to make the event, and although impressed by the exterior found the inside a bit grey and dull. We arrived at 10.15, and stayed no more than 45 minutes having achieved everything we set out to.

Perhaps it would be nice next time to have a slightly bigger variety of sports stars, however in saying that would meet up with the team of '66 again.

I couldn't believe how quiet it was and the lack of people milling about but that meant we had a bit more time to meet and chat with the guests.

Having travelled up from South London - here's hoping the next event is around the South East!

But thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit, and will keep an eye out for the next Sportsmania event.

  5. On Saturday Geoff Hurst added 66 under his signature on my replica England World Cup shirt. I didn't ask him to but it looks very cool.

I was speaking to a fellow sports collector about it and they said they hadn't seen that before. So it got me thinking, did any of the other England 66 team members add anything similar to their autographs on the Sunday?

Geoff Hurst signed my West Ham shirt with a '66' as well, i also got my Wembley seat signed and got the whole team to add their squad numbers to their names. It looks great!
