  1. I know you've been planning this event for a long time, however 2 months' notice isn't long enough for me (coming from the US) and there's no way I can make it. I adore your conventions: the fact that I made it 6 of the 8 Hub conventions is proof of that (or my insanity! lol) I hope this Doctor Who convention is a success and the first of many so I can get to at least one of them!

  2. I, too, hope Hub can be resurrected perhaps in a couple of years. I made it to all but two of the Hub conventions (sadly missing Hub8), and considering I had to fly across the Atlantic to do so, that's no small feat! The Hub has been some of my best weekends EVER. I agree it needs to go on hiatus but I hope The Hub comes back someday. (Hopefully at the Park Inn in Northampton, my favorite venue.)

  3. In 1997 I attended a Babylon 5 con at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool, and I believe 3.500 people attended over 4 days. How's that?

    i was there

Remember the fake Season 4 script? :D

I was there too! It was my first time in the UK. And yes I remember that script! :-)

  4. I had an excellent time at Hub6. It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. And I loved all the guests. The thing I learned at Hub6: we don't have to have big-name guests (or main character guests) to have a great convention. All the guests were terrific!

  5. I love the Hub events -- some of the best weekends of my life, and I've made wonderful friends there. But I just couldn't continue to cross the Atlantic twice a year for it, so I reluctantly missed Hub4, which I hear was brilliant! And part of why I skipped Hub4 was that I knew there would be a Hub5 just 6 months later. If Hub4 had been the only Torchwood con for the entire year I'd have made it a top priority to be there.

It's not just the money for me - it's also the vacation time (which is limited of course) and the exhaustion of the transatlantic flights, etc.

Like others, I'm also concerned about the fandom dwindling because the show is no longer in production. However I like the idea of an annual reunion for both the fans and the actors. Other shows have done it. Here in the US, for example, Dark Shadows still has a well-attended annual convention and that show has been off the air for decades!

  6. It's not viewable. It doesn't show up in the list of "upcoming events" and the Hub4 page points to the Hub3 forum. I only managed to find this because there was a link in the Hub3 forum to this one, in one of the comments, and I had to be logged in to see this page. I still can't navigate here from the list of upcoming events, even when logged in. So the problem (as of December 5) hasn't been fixed.

  7. I've just read through 8 pages of feedback so I won't repeat what's already been suggested or griped about. I had a fantastic time at Hub2. I'm so impressed by how smoothly it ran, and by the positive changes made based on suggestions here at the forum. It was great to have the schedules provided in the packets, the big schedules on the walls, the much improved bag-drop-off during photo shoots, the raffles to give those of us who don't have a lot of money a chance for an "intimate encounter", the Torchwood themed drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic (thank you for having a non-alcoholic version!) The theme parties were amazing especially saturday night.

I have only one suggestion to add, since no one else has mentioned it: at the sunday night party, the music is way too loud. I'm guessing it's at the same volume as both friday and saturday night, but since there are far fewer people who stay for the sunday night party, there just aren't enough people in the room to absorb the sounds. I had the same problem at the first Hub convention: I really wanted to dance but the music was so deafening sunday night I couldn't be in the room! (I'd have requested to have the volume lowered but honestly it was too loud to even attempt to make that request.)

But overall, I had a great time and I already have my ticket for Hub3. (Which means I'll be crossing the Atlantic for Hub convention yet again!

  8. It's really not soon enough to be concerned about receiving tickets over in the US. Give it until the end of the week at least.

I haven't gotten mine either and I'm starting to get nervous. But I guess I'll wait until friday to see if it arrives before asking what to do next. (I'm also in the US)
