What does one wear to a...travelling circus? lol
-
I voted 30's. I'll be going in an exact replica of a 1934 dress am excited and looking forward to it. I've got the pattern, now I've just got to make it :)
Oh do remember to show us when you've finished. Or just me. 'Cause I want to see.

How about a Time Traveling Theme. Then you could pick any figure from history, you could make it one you'd like to see in TW.
See! lol I said something similar with an 'Out of Time' theme because there is no way we are going to appease anyone at this rate.

I'll be in 1940's dress. Just 'cause I already own some dresses in that style. lol
Same for me, so I think my outfit will be late 30s/early 40s.
Plain or floral?
That's my only annoyance with the 1940's we all look like botanical gardens.

How about musicals as a theme in honor of John B - not everyone cup of tea though perhaps, although lots of variety in this theme, ie - good opportunity for Rocky Horror fancy dress maybe....(always seems to be popular...)
Oh love Rocky horror and theres the moulan rouge:) thats a great idea
*Nods*
Hmm, interesting. Very interesting.

So glad the 1930s/1940s is happening (as someone who discovered an authentic 1940s dress at the bottom of her wardrobe ). I can't really think of anything else show related that hasn't been suggested, unless it's all Torchwoods (past, present and future) combined.
Yeah, pants, I know
For those who are thinking 'what's the whole big band thing like?', I suggest watching the beginning of Memphis Belle, the bit before they actually get anywhere near planes.
Found it in your cupboard? Sounds like a bit of Mary Poppins going on in there!
Nah...my handbag is Poppins, my cupboards are Tardis
Yeah I got a few handbags like that. Could live in them.

oh this sounds like fun Ill have to go search google to see what they actualy wore then but Im sure Ill find somthing.
I think I already have my outfit for this. I would love it be like club noir a burlesque club we have in Scotland
when I did I search for 1930's fashion it keeps coming up Mafia fashion :) good excuse as any to were a pin stripe suit:)
I love the Burlesque idea. One night for the good and one night for the naughty?
The Masked party sounds cool as well.
But from the sounds of it loads of people want to be different things so what if our second party was called Out of Time and you could come as anyone dressed in any time period. That way everyone is happy?
There may even be cube people in the future.

I think we already knew that one of them was going to be 1930/40's themed.
But what is a big band ballroom? lol

Well you may have noticed that there is a thread for the details of the Gold Ticket holders. But obviously we aren't going to be the only people there so come and introduce yourself here so we can all know each other a bit better.
And that way there will be less...Wait, who are you again?
I'm Rae (or Rachel). I'm 19 and I'm from London.

I had my first CM (CM13) just over a week ago. I was only up there for the Sunday as I don't drive and couldn't get there otherwise.
It was made of WIN. I was having to restrain myself from the dealers area which had everything I wanted.
But I went by myself but ended up meeting loads of people, some I already knew from other things but then loads of others. I think you just have to be willing to say hello to people.
Hopefully, I'll see you at CM14!

The Gold Tickets are now SOLD OUT
*Fans Jola* Must have burnt yourself selling all those hotcakes.

I'm debating the hair. I love his 'Captain Jack' hair as Princess calls it so it's strange to see it shorter.
But I saw the ad for it Saturday and forgot to put it on tonight! I'll have to look for it on iPlayer. GRRR.

Some girls were telling my husband that they'd taken tickets for Eve and paid the £15 for an autograph just so that they could go down her queue and take photos of John.
That made me really angry. That is extremely disrespectful to Eve and to a certain extent John. *Grumbles* To angry to speak now...

For me the autographs weren't top priority when I bought the gold pass. I bought the pass so I'd be allowed entry to the drinks reception and priority seating in the talks and because it just seems like it would make the whole experience a little bit better and easier compared to what I'm used to at cons. I've never had a gold pass before but made an exception this time because my 25th birthday is in September (one month before The Hub) and because it's a Torchwood event - my favourite show.
It wouldn't make sense to buy a gold pass if the autographs were what you were want the most. I think people buy the gold pass for the overall experience rather than just the signings. Otherwise I'd agree that it would be a waste of money if that's what you want it for the most.
I agree with you Princess, I've never had a gold pass to anything. I didn't think of everything (like autos and photos etc) seperately when I bought it. Or when I was going schizo to get it. It was sold as an experience (Con T-shirt!) and saved a lot of time for faffing around trying to buy auto/photo tickets as they came with!
My gold ticket was actually my christmas present for my parents, considering that I still can't afford to go out until Oct!

I agree with it pays for itself.
Just wanted to say that.

lol anyone from Wales knows this song. Or should. Tis the rude rugby version you sing down the pub.

Ooh ooh, I do law! Not much on contract, but I can say what I know... A contract of sale basically involves consideration- which is, you give something for something in return. Terms matter, BUT on SM's website, and like everywhere written, it says an autograph is in person, but doesn't guarantee personalisation or a photo. So, you've agreed to the terms by paying, and both given consideration. Fair sale, so problem there. In the terms themselves it basically says that personalisations and photos are a luxury, NOT a given.
Did I make sense?
I do Law. lol
The principle of consideration is something that goes alongside offer and acceptance. JB is offering you an autograph you accept with the payment of £20. Your consideration is a bought promise (of an auto) for monetary value (£20). If you get what i'm saying.
But for a personalisation to be necessary that would have to be a change in terms of the contract, nothing to do with consideration.
ARGH this makes my brain hurt. JB is awesome - the end.

Love DW. I'm only well versed in New Who but working through back log. Love TW also.
But my fave character is Jack. Who happens to be in both. So WOOHOO for me.

His grip was so tight i nearly made this face and woulda done if i'd had more than 2!
Had one. But as I went to leave Malcolm was like "Wait come back!" Literally backpedalled as John grabbed my arm again in the same deathgrip. So ended up with two. But I agree I thought I was making that face but I'm just sort of leaning into him as if to get away from the grip.
-
For the love of God.
Is it me or does it seem there were more exceptionally stupid/selfish people at this con than usual? Even with other big name guests, I haven't heard of them being harrassed in the way people kept trying to with JB.
I just hope the more thoughtless people won't put these celebs off doing future events.
Everyone wants a piece of him but they have no respect for him either.
-
TBH I don't think I could have handled more than one picture with JB. I was completely starstruck for a moment when I was standing in the line waiting to have my photo taken, it had never happened to me before either. But I managed to get out of it to walk and talk to him even ended up with two photos of us (I think Malcolm was expecting our faces to change but they didn't). But mostly I might die of a heartattack if I stand next to him too long.
Well he was squeezing me so tightly he might have cut off my air supply if we'd had to pose for much longer!
I agree with Lizzy about multipule pics not feeling as special as just having one or two. I will never see the appeal. Not to mention it must add up to a bloody fortune, getting up to five or six tickets! I found paying for one more than enough!
Yes his grip was very...firm. Tell you what though I have very sensitive skin and I had bruises on my arm where he was gripping me so tight. Lucky I was wearing a jumper.
I also agree with Lizzy, especially if it has a story behind it, I have a few of those from other events. I actually went to CM to get another one of me and James as in my other one we looked completely out of it.
But if people want to buy 10 tickets then I curse them and foreshame them into having 1 pose the whole way through.

I'm actually pretty into the wedding theme.
