  1. Well sorry Jason, but I bought a Pre-Paid Early Bird on Saturday in advance online and didn't get in the building until 10.30.....and that was because I was "bumped" by a Crew Member (Blue Shirt) to try and not miss my David Hewlett Photo Op...and there were HUNDREDS of people with Early Bird tickets behind me, including my husband....perhaps we all had our watches set to British Winter Time and it was really 9.30???? :whistling:

Sorry to be nit-picky, but I don't like being dismissed as a liar.... :(

Especially as I've stated this twice on threads that have been "moved" :(

The Early pre-paid ticket holders line all gained entrance by 10.45am on Saturday.

    Please don't be rude.

  2. Well, yesterday was my first Con, and I have to say - once I was in - it was a real treat.

The queuing first thing, yes, was a little unorganised - nobody really knew where to queue, and it's clearly something that should be focused on in later Cons, but there's no reason to start entire threads, because I got in fine, and everyone who purchased before the event did too.

Went along to the Sherlocked talk, and was lucky enough to not only get 3rd row, but also be chosen to have a signing and chat with Sue Vertue - bloody lovely lady, hope you can get the team in again so I can have my DVD signed by Mark and Steven too. Talking of Steven, again, lucky enough to meet him out in the main hall and have a slightly awkward chat with him...gobsmacked to meet my favourite writer. I did see someone take a photo of me and him talking...if anyone can find that, that'd be amazing. I saw most of the guests at their tables talking and smiling - Kenny Baker, Dave Prowse, Jemma Redgrave, Paul McGann, Bernard Cribbins and more - and had a 10 minute chat with the less popular but still amazing guest Aidan Cook...for anyone who doesn't know he plays the Zygons, Cybermen, Granfather, the creature in Hide etc. And so far, I hadn't spent a penny.

Everyone I met, staff and attendees, were all keen to talk and help out - there was one particular woman who I spoke to, staff member, who I'd love to give thanks to if I knew who she was. Same to a woman who queued with me for the Sherlocked talk. Gave me all the help they could :)

Stall browsing, Doctor Who talk, bumping into a few faces at tables and around the hall too...before finally meeting the one person I'd come to Comic Con for, Jenna Coleman. Although she was ill, as I went up to leave, she grabbed my hands and apologised for being unwell and all that, bless her, before a staff member told me to leave. It was real nice to have a chat with her, I'm so happy with how she reacted too :)

All in all, I want to say thank you to Showmasters for putting this event on. All you people slagging them off in this forum really don't help, and I think you should understand how difficult it is to put on an event like this, and keep EVERYONE happy, especially with in demand guests Stan, Ian, and Carrie. They've organised guests, the venue, the staff, the tickets, the queuing systems, all the help in place, the schedules so everyone can mainly get to what they want to do...a lot is involved.

Thanks for the event guys, couldn't have gone better for me - other then it was hot and crowded ;) Will be sure to try make it to one of the upcoming events - for sure if Jenna is announced again, as I'd like to see her when she's not so tired.

  3. I didn't even get to meet her. When I arrived for the 5:00 photo session, they told us she had gone and wasn't coming back. Looking around the Internet this morning, I can't find much else about it, and someone above mentioned meeting her at 6, so what actually happened?

The shoot was between 5:00 and 6:00 originally. Because she was feeling unwell, it was clearly taking a lot longer than it normally would, which is why it overlapped.

Perhaps you went to the signing area instead of Photo C?

  4. Although she was unwell she ended up stopping her lunch and coming back to sign a load of autos for people that were in her queue before going back to lunch. I don't know what happened, maybe a mix up in communication most likely, but she came back, she didn't have to especially if she wasn't feeling well and she spoke back if you spoke first. Definitely a very nice guest to meet.

I was very pleased with how nice she was when I met her at 6, even though she clearly was tired and unwell.

  5. When I first sat down next to her, she didn't really notice me till I said hi, but after the photo and I said thanks I also added she looked a bit unwell and randomly she just grabbed my hands and apologised for feeling unwell and all that but as she was speaking to me, one of the staff pulled me away :( But she was really lovely; how she made that gesture and all.

  6. Right tomorrow - print out the schedule and layout. Get my bag ready for the morning, things to be signed, tickets. Charge my camera. Charge my phone. Get some extra batteries for the camera...get the money out and together for the event. Finalise travel and the timetable of events.

Now I'm getting nervous and too excited! First Con and just so much going on.

This is going to sound really stupid but here goes:

I'm not getting a Stan Lee auto, I simply can't afford it. But because he's signing out in the hall, do you reckon I'll still be able to 'spot' and 'see' the legend from afar at least with my eyes? xD

The in the hall part is the presigning only. Unless I am understanding things wrong there will be one line for this only. No chance to linger around. As for the regular signings I am pretty sure his area will be separated. It's going to be VERY crowded for him, so extra crowd trying to get a glimpse can get very dangerous for everyone involved.

Oh okay, I see. Thanks anyway...

  8. I will say that we're all working really hard to deal with everyone's queries etc and unfortunately with so many guests, some things will be missed. As QS said, apologies if that has happened somewhere. But thank you to everyone who has thanked us for our time etc. Most of us are volunteers on here and obviously me on Twitter. Answering queries for 14 hours a day just for fun can be a thankless task but we do it because we enjoy the events and the people associated with them :)

Again thank you, especially when I ask the same questions as many others :) Your time is appreciated. I'm hoping to volunteer at 16 but the more I look at the work you put in, I can see how hard a job it could be :) thanks again, I hope it all pays off when the event runs smoothly :)

  9. Sorry that this upsets you so much.

The obvious stuff like cancellation topics and date change topics has been done, and is still being overlooked as you'll see from a myriad of "why isn't guest X on the schedule anymore?" questions. This list is usually kept by SM themselves and was obviously forgotten in favor of the topics that are supposed to catch attention. The mods have had our hands full answering questions. Our top priority isn't exactly crosschecking lists either.

I have made the changes now to prevent further irritation.

I love the sass of Showmasters ;)
