  1. They should not be made illegal or not used indoors. They are not the same as real cigarettes but of course it's just typical British public believing everything they're told in the papers so many people will believe they will get cancer just like they will probably get food poisoning if they keep food past the best of date lol.

  2. too expensive for me.id rather go.cheaperand just do regular bus.costing me £21 altogether there and back and thats me arriving around 6am on sunday morning.plus the sleeper takes just as long does it not? its just you will have a bed for the hanky panky.i was going to go on the friday but decided on sunday but of course no day is a good day in london.its gonna be long and tiring but it should be worth it and i should have a good memory with george.

  5. I don't know what it's like in England but where i live Job Seekers Allowance for a man over 25 is around £70, it used to be anyway. So that's meant to feed you and keep the water running and electricity running and give you some kind of quality of life and many struggle to do that. Then again these shows aren't aimed at poor people, I got a ton of heat, nuclear heat when I suggested many would be using credit cards and getting into debt just for the sake of it. It is a lot of money but then again it's not up to us what people do. There are many people that don't know what it's like to be told 'no'. They've never went without or they've got everything they wanted for Birthdays and Christmas growing up and as adults they don't know what it's like to do without so £80 can be spent very easily because the word 'No' doesn't exist. An autograph would take top priority over other things where for many people, getting hot food in their mouth and getting by week to week is the most important thing.

It's the same over in America, especially over there when they introduced the photo ops thing when for many years photos were not charged for. A huge backlash over there from fans and of course American people are far more vocal than the British. They have been that way in the UK for quite some time and so it works both ways. People in this country are used to being told no posed photos at the desk and paying money for a photo to be taken for you. Now in the UK we are starting to get a taste of the high prices and it's great if you have the money for them and are huge fans but for those that don't, the penny drops and they start to see the business side of it all and it's simply not all about stars meeting their fans. It's a job and if you are big enough a star, it pays well too. It's always been a business. I know in America many fans troll the actors because they set their own prices and it is funny and you can walk right up to them whereas over here most of the time you don't get anywhere near any actor unless you have paid the money to see them. I think in America the whole convention thing has been totally exposed and played out and needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. But we know that too, we know the guests aren't really there to meet the fans, that's just the job description for the day. It's no different than any of you going to work and being told ok today you're on the tills and then from 12-5 you're helping in the kitchen, you over there you're on the phones then you're helping the mail department.

I think it will be a success though as it always is. I think putting Stan Lee in his own area is a great idea and maybe even John Hurt too and I think that will put it into perspective for many people that just don't have the money. The people paying lots of money will be in one area, and the regular people will be in another. It's just like real life lol. The many that have very little always stand taller than the few with plenty.

  6. Another fellow Glaswegian, You don't have to que, someone gives them out and then you watch for your number to be called, they will be called in batches like 1-20. They are unlimited but you can't get more than one at once, you can only get one at a time that is if your guest of choice is using VTs. Many will be open ques. Each guest will have their own staff handing them out so you need to go to different people for different ones. They are usually in front of the guests table or near where the photos are displayed but not all guests will be on VTs right away.

  7. I think gobo is right. It depends on your personality and some people aren't chatty people or they'd like to be but they don't like approaching strangers first. When you think of conventions I think the impression most noobies get is that everyone is really outgoing and talkative and everyone gets along but there's a lot of people who are just as excited to go to these shows but they do go alone or they are quiet by their nature. I know everyone says you'll get talking to people while you are queing and while this is true it can be lonely wandering around yourself all day and especially going to a hotel room alone at night. Then there is the autograpsh and photoshoots, if you're already a quiet person, that alone can be daunting even though you really want to meet them, it's a big thing to really get yourself in that frame of mind to go and meet this person that you really respect and like whereas for chatty people it means nothing, they can chat for ages to strangers. It's a big thing that a lot of people don't seem to notice.

Then again most people don't go alone to anything. Many people can't go to cinemas on their own, they can't go to concerts on their own. They always need someone there. the other side of it is if you don't go you miss out and life is too short to miss out on things. That's kind of when you can really relate to the guests that you are meeting because what they do, they do alone. They need to generate their own work as actors and writers and directors, it needs to be done alone. That's why they are successful, or millionaires and household names. You do it on your own, if you go through life waiting on others it just keeps you down, in all your cases it would mean you don't meet anyone or have any experiences but since you made the leap of faith now you have all these experiences and memories.

  8. I used to get yelled at when i had them printed in places in person. I just tell them it's for a young family member and they simply must meet this person and they can only do it today because we can't afford to go the other days and it's fine honestly..........i know you're only doing your job, it's ok, i just thought i'd take them out for the day that's all. It's my fault, i really should have asked for permission to use the photo and usually by that point they feel sorry for me enough to give me them.

Legally you are supposed to get permission from the owners but then again this is 2014. We all do plenty of things we aren't supposed to do.

  9. I think most people these days sell online and I know there is ways of selling online through Amazon that actually stops Amazon taking their cut of the profit, People create their own Blogspot or website with Paypal buttons, also Facebook pages and there's too many ways of linking your page to other authors, people locally and making it noticed. Selling pages are ideal for that kind of thing, the big thing now is the dieting drinks but if you live in a big city, check those selling pages and type in every town around you on the groups, let everyone know you're local, people always support people from their towns. You really need to work at it. If you go down the self publishing route there's always local bookshops that can sell it in store and online on their websites, you can get in contact with lots of booksellers through places like Abebooks which is no different than Amazon marketplace sellers selling out of a warehouse. You can stock your book in this country through them but have them list it for sale online.

Really Showmasters should have a section set aside for authors trying to start out and have just started publishing their work whether it's physical or digital and they get to talk to fellow fans and build an audience and I'm sure many people would love to meet authors that they don't know about and take a chance on something new.

  10. Don't go out of your way to dress up nice. It's not a corporate dinner. Just wear what makes you feel good and I was the same with my pictures, I hated looking at myself but you know what? It's a memory so why be ashamed of it and the truth is most people don't like their pictures so even if you think you look garbage and everyone else looks great, they'll be thinking the same thing about their own pictures!
