  1. I really should meet him too (especially now I've finally changed my mind about meeting Star Wars guests). It's about time, given how long I've been attending these events!

I felt the same in the summer. I've avoided the SW guests so far and as he's always there you think, I'll get him next time. But like Kenny, they're getting older and once I decided to get Carrie, I had to finally meet them both too. Glad I did.

  2.

Can't wait to see Carrie and get my blu-ray complete saga book signed  wonder if she will allow me to take a photo with her signing it

This kind of shot is allowed (taken at the Summer show) DSC017384.JPG

    Epic!

Photographs had been stopped by the time I went through on the Saturday. Although by a complete freak accident I do have a picture of me meeting her from a friend who was coming out from seeing John Hurt at exactly the same time.

  3. I had no problem with the dog hanging around the shoot though understand a lot of people don't like or are scared of dogs, so a bit inconsiderate in that respect but I'm personally very glad my photo was just me and her and no dog, that was not what I was paying £65 for.

Other than that she was lovely to meet. Mad as a box of frogs but had a nice exchange with her and got a great autograph.

  4. Tokens only worked because it wasn't very busy though it certainly stopped me making a spontaneous purchase as I couldn't be bothered to get another token. I know Jason has come on and said they won't be using them but for the sake of argument, just Imagine everyone that attended LFCC in the summer having to get inside and queue up for tokens. It would have been mindless. Complete nightmare. It's bad enough queuing for photo tickets on the day.

All it does is introduce another step in the whole process and remove the need to handle cash near the guests and I was terrified of losing any between friday and saturday. Doesn't benefit getting your autographs in any way.

  5. I paid on the door last year, don't think I turned up until about 8:40 and there weren't many people in front of me. Year before I had tickets but turned up a few mins after opening expecting to join the back of a moving queue and walked straight in as there was hardly anyone there.

Obviously it's no guarantee but the winter one doesn't have the draw of so many big names (in my opinion) as the summer one and has always been a lot quieter.

  6. Each person will need a ticket. You can have both of you in the picture then and will have two photos taken (one for each ticket bought) so you can do different poses or one of you could be on your own and the second picture together etc but yes you will need to pay twice.

  7. I wandered over to the stage for the auction after the Women of Star Trek talk on Sunday, but it had already finished. I was surprised as it was scheduled from 14.45-15.30 and I got there around 15.05.

I did the same, not intending to buy but just look at what was there and what people were paying but as you say, it was over very quickly.

  8. I've never asked for a quote, more than happy to leave it up to the guest and treat it as a bonus but have had some great ones over the years. Possibly my favourite is my Richard Dean Anderson who wrote Kawoosh!! on a photo of him standing in front of the Stargate. Always makes me smile though I got that at a non-SM event I'm afraid.

Carrie wrote "My Hero" on the pic I got her to sign at the summer show which is rather fab too.

  9. Except that the previous DSTL photos have never been made available as digital downloads for reasons that have never been fully explained. If the same restrictions are in place then I expect this years won't be available either. Best you can do is scan the print you have for the time being.

  10. Heard lots of people complaining that the various passes weren't worth the money. I had gold in 2012 and felt I got a lot of value from it overall but just went with standard tickets this time as there just didn't seem to be any value in the packages. If people felt there was that's great but I heard a lot of complaints just from overhearing people talking in queues etc.

  11. Disliked the system immensely. Although the show wasn't very busy so queuing for them wasn't too bad, it was still quite slow telling the person what you wanted, them adding it up and finding them in the draw etc. Felt they would be too easy to lose and if it was so busy or schedule was such that you missed a guest, they said there were no refunds. I felt more panic about missing a guest than I normally would if it was just cash.

Also made me feel less likely to go for that impulse purchase which I have sometimes done, just because of having to go and get more tokens.

Just imagine what the Summer LFCC would have been like if everyone had to queue for tokens before doing anything else? Would have been a nightmare.

It kinda worked here because it was quiet. Even Saturday was vastly less busy than I expected.

  12. Have just seen some of the TNG bridge photos they are absolutely incredible I'm so so jealous that I couldn't make this event. I really hope that this opportunity happens again at some point in the future

Personally I thought they were very dark making it hard to see some of the people. Needed better lighting, they were just using one, front and center. Really needed more to fill the edges better but people seemed happy with it. Not sure I would have been for that money. Got lots of photos I took in the talks to go through but here's a couple of quick examples. Jeri Ryan, Karl Urban and James Darren.

  13. While the guests I met were great (James Darren, Tim Russ and Aron Eisenberg) I felt there were elements to the organisation that were sadly lacking.

No signs saying which photoshoot area was which (that I could see), incredibly small pictures above each guest so it was very hard to work out who was sitting where unless you went close. The whole token thing seemed to confuse everyone and was slow. And having to fill out an order form to buy photoshoot or talk tickets was just ridiculous.

I could only see one place to buy the tokens inside but didn't experience the 10x8 photo queue as I didn't need any but I gather the selection is very limited.

I feel Saturday is going to be pretty chaotic if it's busy with lots of queues (with no separation of them) so sometimes hard to tell which queue is which, and just lots of confusion. I hope I'm wrong.

Sound in the Voyager stage area seemed good and I enjoyed the one talk I saw there but it's completely open so not sure how they can control queuing or people just coming and going as they please.

Seems there's lots of good elements from before that have gone missing this time. But we will see.
