  1. I recall it was said advance tickets would be limited for Saturday. Can someone confirm if more will be added or has the limit been reached? Thanks.

  2.

And I thought my poster was good... *drooling* haha which of the main cast are on there?

Back to the original question... haha yeah I've never have an issue either I get multiple posters signed most guests are careful too!

Not too many of what you'd probably call "main cast" but do have Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Charles Dance, Jerome Flynn recently added, Jason Momoa, Mark Addy, Iain Glen, Alfie Allen, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Kristian Nairn, Rose Leslie, Daniel Portman, Finn Jones, Ian McElhinney, Natalia Tena, James Cosmo,Ellie Kendrick, Gethin Anthony, Gemma Whelan, David Bradley and a few others. Becoming a bit full now.

  3.

Silly comedy droid but cool X-Wings and Falcon. Quite liked the dark wooded bit and thankfully none of the usual JJ lens flare effects. Can't really judge anything more than that from it though.

You say "JJ lens flare" but that was really only something he used for Star Trek. If you look at the rest of his work, it's not there.

Well ok but you know what I mean. Was worried he'd do the same with this. Hate it in the Trek films.

  4. Loved it, though it actually revelead very little about the plot and characters. It really was just a teaser.

I hate trailers that give away plot details. Most seem to contain the best bits of the film these days. I mean this doesn't even need a trailer for goodness sake, it's going to make bucket loads of money and you hardly need to encourage people to go and see it.

  6. I turned up around 11ish, had a mouch about got 6 autographs and 1 photo and went home. I guess we were there longer than normal for a cm. My only complaint and it wasn't SMs fault is I buy loads of american sweets and the woman with the sweets stall wasn't there.

Wrong. There was the usual American sweet stall with loads of stuff but I just couldn't afford anything this time.

  7. 5am? Complete madness and totally unnecessary IMO. I got there about 8:40 on Saturday but only because I wanted to avoid any potential parking issues and wanted to go elsewhere later on. I sat in my car, in the warm, watched the queue go in within 5mins and then wandered in to see a pretty empty hall and although I wasn't meeting any guests it would not have been a problem. Amanda Tapping was Open queue by about 10:30 I think and only Freema was still on VTs when I left around 12:00 and was the only person with any kind of queue apart from David Haye who seemed very popular.

I only stayed until 12 as I met some friends, went for coffee with them and went back to get something I'd spoken to a stall holder about. Glad people had a good time but I left very disappointed, first time I've felt like that since I started.

  8. Oh well. Not surprised but after attending since CM4 probably won't be turning up just for a look around like I did on Saturday. I like to get there early to avoid parking problems as it does fill up so it'll all come down to whether there are any guests to meet to justify the early entry fee, however minimal.

  9. I'm not interested in arguing this as it's just getting this further off-topic. My point is that forum members feel like they are being ignored whenever they offer suggestions or constructive criticism. It feels like we are all being lumped in the same group of "troublemaking forum members moaning for the sake of moaning," when a lot of us care deeply about these shows and are trying to offer suggestions. The result is topics being locked and we are basically told "if you don't like it, don't come." That doesn't help us or Showmasters.

Well I know a few people who are taking that stance though with the increase in SM run events it's going to become harder to stand by that as they will corner the market and if you want to meet a particular guest you may have no choice other than to go as you won't see them anywhere else.

And this is a reason why so many attendees do not use the forum...there is little point. It achieves nothing. It's the reason why I initially didn't like using it and it's the reason I am going to stop using it as much. If you look at the people who were talking in the locked topics, they are all silent now. Too afraid to say anything else or realising that it's pointless to try to speak their mind about a show they love. So for that reason I am not going to say anything else here.

Not afraid, just little point wasting the energy. The above statement pretty much makes it clear that the people on the forum are a minority and the ones that raise points, whether that's complaints or genuine feedback and suggestions are a further minority of those and as everyone else is clearly happy and attendances are high, those few don't need much attention.

Whatever has been said above, with so many shows so close together and the effort put in getting those off the ground, this one does feel like it's lost out whether that's on budget (no entry fee to boost the income) or just lack of availability once people are signed up for others. And people just won't be able to organise travel/acommodation if more popular guests are announced at this late stage.

I also don't particularly see that it makes much difference whether the show is a summer or winter one when using the new hall. Same space, just without the concourse. Time of year never seemed to make much difference when it was indoors at the shopping center.

Then again why am I even trying? It's saving me money. I suppose just as a very long term attendee who's only ever missed events for financial reasons, not because there wasn't anyone to meet, it's sad to see an event so poor you have no reason to go when there's always been something of interest.

  10. All a matter of what you're interested in. Cardiff is guest heaven for me compared to Milton Keynes. There were 5 I was interested in at Cardiff, now just 3 but I can't justify the expense of going for them and there's none at MK, that's the really disappointing event that feels like it's been forgotten and left to the last minute.

  11. SM will see us right.

    Always have, always will

Rome was not built in a day, and SM are not known for throwing together crap shows.

    Patience is a virtue friends.

So naive. Do you really think they couldn't possibly get it wrong? They've been doing this a very long time and normally have a decent lineup in place some time before the show so people seeing this as poor so close to the event is of concern to those who want to support it. It all just seems so last minute this time it almost gives the impression of a forgotten event while they focus on getting newer ones off the ground.

I wait to be proved wrong but after going to these things since 2003, pretty sure this is the first time it's been left so late to get the full selection of guests.

  12. Well Jason has said he has thing in the pipeline. Guests come along like buses, not at all then all at once so I'm going to change my mood round and be positive.

Maybe so, we will see but it's all rather late for some people to make travel arrangements, book hotels, budget etc if it's guests they want to see. So last minute isn't very helpful to many. I know you can only announce when things are signed and some many not know availability until nearer the time but it's unusual for things to be left this late so I fully understand peoples concerns.

  13. Expect it to be extremely quiet though it's always hard to tell. Personally can't see anyone that's going to pull in lots of people. Probably be the usual little rush first thing but I'd be very surprised if you can't just walk up to any guest after a while. Remember going to one on a Friday, a few years ago when it was still on the concourse and there must have been only about 20 people wandering around. It'll be a bit busier than that but i'm not expecting crowds, queues or any problems wandering round the stalls.

Then again I may have it completely wrong and there'll be queues everywhere.

  14. Maybe there's too many Showmasters conventions in a short period of time.

Cardiff is a week before, and LFCC-W a few weeks earlier. not forgetting Hallowhedon 6 and Eternal Twilight 10

Autographica had complaints about it's line up in early October.

I guess that 1 or 2 of Cardiff guests may appear at CM:MK,

but i do hope a for a guest to be announced to make it worth me going

And don't forget Belfast last weekend, LFCCW couple of weekends ago etc. The calendar is absolutely swamped with events and that's not even considering those run by other organisers. Something somewhere has got to give you'd have thought. There's no way you can get high profile guests to all of these. Cardiff actually strikes me as being what I'd expect CMMK to be, much more interesting and varied.

Personally I thought even LFCCW was weak and only went one day despite having bought a weekend ticket. Does feel like MK has fallen on the butt end this year. I've been going to these since CM4 in 2003 and it's just disappointing. While I've had to miss one or two for financial reasons I think this is the first one since then that there's not even one person I want to meet. Could see Amanda again (who is lovely) but don't need to as she's done a few events last few years. And with the greatest respect to them as actors, how many people are these briefly seen in the background Star Wars characters going to pull in? Only a few absolute diehard completists.

But as I've said, saves me spending. Hope this isn't a sign of the event becoming obsolete, though it's not the only one that seems to be struggling, see the complaints being raised about HW6 too and what with Belfast next year being on the traditional weekend, people feel this is going to be the last of those.

Over the years I've tried to see the positives but it's hard in this case.
