Hang on, a minute. Doesn't the blurb about the con, on the opening page, which I cut and pasted as was, intimate that we will see the 5 Captains on stage, together? It doesn't say that, 'It's been a long time coming but finally European fans of Star Trek will witness all five captains on stage in London this October' if you can afford the most expensive entry passes. There's no mention that it's only for the exclusive few who have the extra cash.

As for the standard event access tickets - it doesn't say that we will be excluded from the Opening Ceremony/5 Captains' Talk. It tells us that we'll have event access. Well, as the event is for the 5 Captains, I don't think that it's a jump in logic to assume that the event access will be to the 5 Captains. I'll bet that I've been attending Trek cons for more years than you've been alive and I've never been excluded from an opening ceremony after I'd paid my registration fee so this is a real first.

As for chancing it that 'they would make it available separately' - it's what has been said, on these pages, and I quote directly from a Mod, 'You can buy tickets for the Opening Ceremony/Captains Talk, the Captains talks, the bridge photo shoots and all talks separately.' You can check that - it was posted on June 11th. I interpret that statement as meaning that I can buy tickets for the Opening Ceremony/Captains Talk separately as it's specifically differentiated from the Captains talks.  And, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who read that statement and took it at face value. It's the answer to a question that's been asked time and time again, after all.

You say you will be 'a bit miffed' if I could buy a ticket to the Opening Ceremony/Captains Talk as it would 'seriously devalue' your ticket. Well, I'm sorry that if I could have bought my ticket then you would have been upset to share the talk with me. I suppose I would have been terribly lucky to have been able to share the event with someone who could afford to splash out at least £225 and who says, 'If you wanted to go to it, then buy the ticket that includes it' . How cavalier you are with my money. I reckon I'm the daft one, for after all, for just £450 for the both of us, we could be in with the privileged. No problem, there, I've always got spare hundreds of pounds lying around. (And, talking about lying, I never mentioned that. Your words, not mine.)

Later that day: I see that you have slightly edited your reply to me. Well, my comments still stand. And, I still say that a convention that has on its opening website page the lure that all 5 Captains will be together on stage should not really have that as an 'add on'. It should be the main event for all those who purchase an event ticket and everything else should be an add on. After all, it is the main event.

Showmasters themselves posted on 17 April, a day after tickets went on sale: "ALL paid for talks will be available to purchase on top of your entry ticket if it is not already included. This includes the captains talk."

Here's a link to that post.

Look mate, I have had to take out a loan to go to this thing which I'm going to be paying off for the next 18 months, so dont try and make out like I'm loaded and your the underdog ok. And the gold tickets have been some of the most messed about items in terms of 'content included' that i have ever seen in anything i have ever bought....ever.

So i can relate to you being p***** off about not getting what you thought, and i removed the bit about being miffed because clearly you are looking to vent here which solves nothing.

My point is, and what i was trying to say was. That I have learned that you shouldnt take anything thats said on these forums as definite, you've just got to get the most that you can included at the start, and if things change, tuff. You've just got to trust that they're doing the best they can.

I dont agree with it, but its my experience.

Groovemaster, it was the Destination Star Trek London lot. And thank you for reminding us that these are the pages where we can communicate and talk about what's happening. I don't think that I was 'venting' - just letting people know what I'd been told about the Opening Ceremony and the Captains Talk and saying how disappointed I am.

GuyVer3, well, it did smack of 'I've got my ticket, you should have bought one'. You maybe thought that yourself as you did edit some of your comments to more gentle effect after saying that your ticket would be devalued if others could buy a talk ticket separately. However, enough of that. I turn instead to the idea that we shouldn't trust as definite anything that we read on these forums. What, not even what is said by Showmasters and the Moderators, themselves? So, who should we trust, then? And, I don't think that it's good enough to just take the attitude of 'tough' - the goalposts have moved. You don't seem too happy with that yourself  as you've been messed around, too.

I know the organisers are probably good guys and that they are snowed under with problems and organisation but they are the ones taking a lot of money from us and altering what we've been promised or offered. It's all very sad.

Let me say, again, having the 5 Captains together on stage is THE main event and shouldn't be an add on.

I personally think that the opening ceremony and five captains talk should be open to anyone who wants to get a ticket for it, I personally have purchased a platinum ticket because I felt at the time it was the best ticket you could get othe than VIP which can't afford, I've had to borrow the money from my parents to get this ticket but I have no problem in every other person being allowed to attend these talks, if show masters say its because there is not enough seating because of number of gold platinum etc tickets then maybe they should have sold less of those so that those people who can't afford them but wish to buy talk tickets can attends, I fin it very frustrating that the goal posts are constantly changing and that something said on forum by mod or show masters them selves can change later, but what can anyone do about it, people have complained to show masters and nothing happenedx I find it disturbing that show masters haven't even posted on this forum for several weeks and the line of " they are all busy organising something else" is in my opinion a lame excuse

hi all

wow some more Drama what a surprise :-)

I am off working on new guests and just gotten over running LFCC. now I am playing catch up and come across all this  stuff about the Opening Ceremony/Captains Talk. I really think we all need to chill out a little and not look  in a negative light on everything ? , there are lots of people that have to go over before we can go public on a lot of stuff now, as everything we say now seems to be really scrutinised with a microscope by one of two people on here and on twitter and Facebook and it is just because of this we now have to check and double check everything before we say anything now , which is a little sad.

I am sorry, its just one or two people out there that are creating such drama and trying to worry others. that's why we have to slow down what we say and have to look at every statement before we put it out. It's getting silly as we are upfront and we only want everyone to have a good time and we want to provide you all as much as we can, and give you what you want, but we will only offer what we know we can provide so we do not let you down.

I have read through the posts and I am going to keep an eye on the one or two people on here that seem to only have post to create drama. we do not want to upset the real fans that have bought tickets and have put their trust in us , we are here to run a good, fun, value for money, and fair event , we do not need to con anyone or trick anyone in any way.

As to the point that the latest drama is about: I am sorry to say to the one or two of you that have thrived on this for the last few days that tickets will be going on sale for the Opening Ceremony/Captains Talk in the next few days. we had to have the agreement from the Main guests as they had to also agree to the pricing structure as this involved them also ,so it was not just down to us. We should have the last few things to tie up, and then we will let everyone know on here and on our twitter page and Facebook when they will go on sale, so everyone will be ready to buy them as soon as they go up and have some warning as that's also fair, and as you can see, we have thought about it .

So all this worry and drama is over nothing, and in the next few days you will have a date and time when you can buy tickets for this talk.

I hope this brings a little more peace to this place, and we can all get back to enjoying the run up to the event and the friends we have made on there in the run up.

This should help clear this matter up.  I  am sure more drama will come this way again, but I think all these issues will go away, the same way as we are here to out on the most amazing event we can for you all, from the fans that have bought a ticket for just the one day. to the person that has bought a VIP ticket: we plan to give you all a really great time and something that you will look back on and say WOW! I am so pleased I was a part of the event .

more in the next few days

jason

Jason as a token of good will and to try and restore some faith in what we will actually get for our money come October, would it not be possible for those of us who purchased Gold before the announcement of the Saturday party, to add that party for £15 instead of the £25 we are being asked for. To clarify, our ticket includes the Friday night party, great, but if we try to add Saturday it will cost and extra £25 each. However someone buying a day ticket who then adds the two parties can get this for £40. It doesn't seem to add up? If the portion of our ticket price for Friday is £25 then why can't we add the Saturday party which we knew nothing about when we bought the Gold for £15!?

Additionally can you clarify what will be included? Is this purely for entry, or is there any food or drink included? Previous cons I have attended have included a buffet with soft drinks. I'm not trying to sound as if everyhting is a problem, I (and others) just want some clarification about things that I believe can be answered now. Other matters such as guests etc I know are still under negotiation and I understand the delays, for now.

What is it with people and the party thing? As has been pointed out in other threads, we're already getting it cheaper than everyone else as we already have one party included in our tickets - if we get the other discounted then great, that's a bonus, but personally I don't see why we should expect to be given a further discount

To try to move away from all the gloomyness I have a quick question!
My partner and I are vegan so although I'm sure they'll have something for everyone at the restaurants there, i would prefer to bring some things from home just to be on the safe side.

I just want to check, can we bring our own food with us? and can we eat it in the eating area (we've never been before so I'm not sure of the layout but I'm assuming theres an area with tables and chairs for people to eat) or will we have to go outside!

Thanks

You can bring your own food.

The only eating areas with tables and chairs that I know of personally belong to the food vendors there, so they may ask for no outside food. Hopefully someone who has been to the venue more recently than me can confirm the second part.

This was talked about in another thread as well, and I (among others) have been recently - the central "concourse" area (the big long corridor between all the various halls) has lots of seating areas, but I personally didn't see any signs about specific foods to be eaten at them. Most of the food vendors, aside from the pub/restaurant on the upper level, are just rented units along the side walls and the seating areas seemed to be generic rather than affiliated to a particular outlet.

Besides, you could just walk outside if you are worried about upsetting anyone with a packed lunch :)

You paid for the other party! It might be included in your tickets but you did pay for it, there was no discount that I can see! You would take the discount but don't expect it! Other people who bought much cheaper tickets can get a discount, Gold ticket holders have forked out much more cash in advance in good faith and then get told they have to pay more than others for the same!!! Are you for real?

Jason as a token of good will and to try and restore some faith in what we will actually get for our money come October,

can i stop you just there .

"token of good"   "restore some fait"

ok i have to say this, the value of the gold pass when you receive it on the day will be around £350 to £400 in activates and items you will go away with on the secondary market or what you would have to pay out for to get them on the days of the show and some things you will not be able to buy or get so they are priceless .

so to read this is a little odd and getting to be a little old

no one has made anyone buy a ticket and the price is what it is and there are lots of people out there the tare happy with the prices for the show and what they are getting for it

we are not going to change the deal for one group or another as people that have bought ticket for the other tickets will complain that if this was announced before hand they may have bought another type of tickets so as we have said from the start we are giving you what we said we would give you we are talking away nothing and we are not going to change things .

the content of the goody bags will be different for the ticket types and thats were there will be a lot of differences.

i do find it odd to be asked to change what you get with your ticket when if we did this others would go crazy and start to complain its not fair , so we are not going to change anything what you paid for you are getting and thats fair for everyone , and that what we plan to do here make it fair for everyone .

now for one last point.

we do seem to have one or two people saying that people are unhappy with aspects of the show, well i would like to point out that there is intact very few people that have emailed us with anything that is anything more that wanting a little bit more info or to confirm something , so very few people are unhappy with what we are doing so far and the next point is a very big point and something i feel you should know .

There is so far over 8500 of you

thats right we have sold over 8500 tickets to this event , which is more tickets sold than any other Star Trek event anywhere in the world and people are travelling from all over the world so we must be doing something right and we will keep on working very hard for you to get it right for you all.

by the way the ticket numbers are not counted in the way of one person buying a three day pass means thats three tickets, i know it is how other Trek event in the past have counted tickets but not us , we count them that a three day pass is just that 1 ticket

so this is going to be the biggest even of its kind and there are a lot of you and as the numbers are so big and so many of you to look after i really do not think that there  are very many people with any real issues and thats how we want it to be .

we are doing our very best to give you all an amazing Star Trek convention and to bring you all something you will remember and be proud to be apart of, as we are being able to run this event.

more to come on the event very soon

Apologies if this a question that has already been asked or has either an obvious or impossible to predict answer but is there likely to be really long queue of people awaiting entry on the friday that would slow down entry to the event? I'm guessing the answer is probably yes going by past convention experience and what you just posted about the number of tickets sold but i have never been to an event organised by this company before so dont know if you maybe have a different entry protocol to other places.

What is your entry protocol? How early would you recommend arriving to ensure entry to the event at a reasonable time?

Sorry if i seem to keep adding questions but I can only attend the friday and will be travelling from north wales to london on the friday morning. I would prefer not to be at the back of a long queue that takes forever to get through the gate as I have a minimum of 6 autographs that I would love to acquire and may never get the chance again so dont want to waste any time stood outside when i could be running about like a kid in a candy store inside.

Also its been announced that Nana Visitor will be doing photo sessions but i cant find any info on what days these photo sessions are available. I'm assuming its only on the sat/sun like most of the photo sessions but please correct me if i am wrong as i woudl love a picture with her. Will be very grateful for any answers you provide :)
