thinking about coming to next years con, ive had a look at hotels near the olympia and earls court as i'm not sure where its taking part and they seem to be very expensive so i was wondering if any one had booked already or had a suggestion i could look in to

Let's face con's are pretty expensive and we all want as much free cash to splash out on autos, photos and other stuff. We (or at least I), don't want to spend money on over priced food and drink that everywhere else wouldn't cost so much. With that in mind here are a few cheaper options all within 5 minutes of the Excel Arena. Tesco Express - There is a Tesco express that opened up about 5 months ago. To get there from the main entrance of the Excel which is the West Entrance (I think), head straight forward past the Ibis and Novatel hotels down Western Gateway. Once you come to the Crown Plaza continue going forwards about 200/300 yards. Excell Café and Restaurant - This is a nice café/restaurant just down from the Custom House Hotel with pretty good food at a reasonable price. At this café I've had a few meals included a stacked full English with a cuppa for £5. From the main entrance, turn right and head down the roofed walkway (for lack of better term,) to the DLR. At the DLR turn right and follow the path round past the ticket booths and news stand, to a set of stairs that leads to Victoria Dock Road with Custom House opposite. From there turn left and follow the road round. Keep an eye out for a white sign on the wall that has blue writing that says "café open". Also down this street you will find a convenience store, a Chicken Royel, a green grocers, a butchers and a taxi office. For those staying on the Eastern side of the Excel, there are a few options across a small bridge on the other side of the Excel car park including the London City Airport Travelodge or as I call it, Toasterlodge, if you saw it, you'd understand. There is also a garage near by that sells petrol fairly cheap compared with other garages, they also sell beer and fags at the same price as a corner shop. Anyway I hope this helps somebody.

i was planning to take my jedi costume with me a few months ago but sadly decided I didn't want to run the risk of annoying other trekies, i will have a star wars tshirt though when im out of uniform

Hmm, I wonder if Wizards have thought of this? Would be cool to have a game or two.

I wasn't thinking of buying, I was asking if anyone taking a deck or two to play with.

The ammount of other cons I've been to, that were for something specific that had Magic or other things, hell I've been to a few anime cons in my trek uniform

I was just wondering is anyone else taking a Magic the Gathering desk or two?

i was planning to do a borg hence the user name but i can't afford him at moment, that said i have just bought a tng red shirt with studs, badge and phaser for £25 so thats one. also planing to bring something that will probably either get me lynched or loved.
