So far i'm quite disappointed : seems to me there is a lack of big names this year compared to other years.... :( I come from France and usually have some guests for signatures, but none this year....

Can we still hope Cumberbatch-level guests ?

This is what I've been thinking.

My boss (who is also an LFCC goer) was saying today how there's been a distinct lack of "massive guest announcement this friday" kind of hype posts this year. You can really tell there's a lack of interest because they keep reposting about Rupert Grint and David Boreanaz to drum up attention because they're the only two 'huge' names they've got. Feels more like a smaller event than London Film & Comic Con.

Think this might be my last SM event for a while if there are no more big announcements in the weeks to come. And if there was still heavy moderation on this forum I'd probably get arrested for saying this but at least Monopoly Events seem to be getting the big and relevant names these days.

I’m not sure that anyone is getting big or relevant names at the moment. I’m even slightly regretting my gold ticket for a weekend con at the end of June. It’s not looking like much value for money.

Seems other cons are, just a couple of examples, Iceland getting Robert Zemeckis, Michael J Fox still doing cons in America. There's still big names appearing. Fingers crossed some big names will get announced soon. Trouble is it seems like theres sooo many new cons over the world (take a look on roster.con), and some which clash with LFCC, maybe international guests are more reluctant to do long haul when they have the option to do the same nearer to home. But it also does sometimes feel (and I don't like to say it, and mean no disrespect) like its same old same old.

For me, the whole voucher refund thing instead of proper refund, that was introduced following covid put me off booking guests, and I think that still resonates.

And what about the 25th anniversary of 'The World is not enough' which they stated on socials? Why aren't there more guests then? It seems this is about to become a not so memorable edition guests wise.... at least I get to meet Denise Richards :D

I haven't seen any guest announcements that have excited me yet. Can we get some guests from uk 90s and y2k shows please.

I wouldn't mind the lack of interesting guests if there was more to do other than photos and autos. The stalls are a bit samey. And panels few and far between. I feel like they could bulk it out a bit with maybe some creative make and take stuff. Or more creative panels. Set up some nice free backgrounds to encourage the cosplayers to take photos etc.

They are back to doing refunds for guests, but the reputation is hard to shake, so a lot of people are keeping their money in their pocket until nearer the show or even for at the show. I know I have to a certain degree.

And a certain Welsh conventions antics have definately dented people confidence when paying out for pre-orders whether photoshoots or otherwise

So I really am not the only one to be worried : Even the last Winter Comic Con listing was better ! (And that was the very first time I came back in London since Covid Pandemic)

It's all subjective last summers big hitters where not for me, and yet I can acknowledge they were great guests. This years main 2 of Winstone and Boreanaz are fantastic guests, and will do well. If I hadnt managed to get David at a convention last year, then he would be my main guest this year.

So if a guest cancels are SM now refunding diamond passes in cash? Someone told me they are deferring the diamond passes if the guest is scheduled to another event or refunding by vouchers after 2 years if the guest is a continual no show.

If that’s the case I can see why people would think twice about buying one.

And there you have me, I dont know. The last few guests that have cancelled came with a post that said refunds would be automatic.

I don't think there will be more guest announcements as they constantly advertise the guests they already have. Plus they invent all sorts of duo photoshoots and special talks, even the guests are asked to make promotional videos ;) I'm not complaining though, for a James Bond fan, this is a good turn up.

I stopped buying gold passes the moment they had diamond passes.

im a photoshoot person so waiting in line with non-gold pass holders for photoshoots made me realise I can still do a bunch of photoshoots without the gold passes.

Given how close we are to LFCC, I expect we will still have guest announcements but no A-List level ones.

Im quite grateful with the line up. Just makes it more affordable to go.

This is it, really. I don't remember any previous events where they've CONSTANTLY reposted about existing guests. Sure every year they'll recap the big names but it's like every other day they're pushing David and Rupert. They know perfectly well that they're not getting anyone else big and this is our lot.

Oh well, I think we've reached a bit of a maximum capacity of Comic Con events to be honest....and the prices are getting more and more ridiculous at times....
