firstly in the two announcements we have Phil Baxter who recently joined the who legend as Sir Edmund Hillary (before he was a sir, also would have laughed myself if it was George Mallory he was playing) in the recent Christmas special "Joy to the world".

PhilBaxterWeb.png

Baxter is attending on the Sunday only and is £15 for his autograph or photo.

now here is the problem to which we face, whilst "Joy to the world" will be available come the 27th of this month, it will be included later in the series 15 boxset when that inevitably comes out, so we could all get 10X8 prints but we're again faced the same issue we had last july with Josie Sedwick-Davis, the question being will they be a one and done, so at this time i'm undecided as to my course of action at this time.

I think you know what I'm going to say. He'll be going in one of the few remaining spaces in the Diary. A good fallback in these situations

Always good to have but I don’t have such, so I’m really stuck with the aul debate about what I’d want to do with him

Okay so Showmasters have announced an… announcement for tomorrow but it’s for me July so as it stands I won’t be covering it here until March 3rd at the earliest unless it’s a big name then I’m sure discussion will creep in

It would depend if they announced say two or three more people from Joy to the World, then it would make the dvd/bluray cover of the episode a little more attractive a prospect.

I think like Josie Sedgewick-Davies, Phil is going to be a one off appearance

It’s the sticky wicket, and with her we could have had a modicum of an idea had they not edited the DVD/Blu Ray to remove the trailer at the end, because I was certain she was in that.

but yeah as bad as it sounds beyond Fantom landing him in around 10 years I doubt he’s gonna be doing another one

More sad news to start the year off with, Barbara Clegg, writer of Enlightenment, passed away on the 7th at the age of 98

I made a note in my diary simply says Bugger.

Honestly that’s a shame because that’s one of two good stories from that season, because being honest season 20 isn’t that great but “Enlightenment” is one of them and is fun fact my only season 20 dvd (if you discount “the five Doctors”) that is signed and that has only a single name which is Laure Goode, so evidently not a season I prioritise.

but having just watched “Snakedance” (which I hate) how about we get Martin Clunes in

Given that he is always positive about the show over the years, when talk show hosts try and bait him into saying something negative, then I can see him doing a show.

It would be a big draw given his career, so you’d get Doctor who fans plus fans of practically everything else he’s done.

But honest the more guests the better for the events, really I’m not hoping for anyone too big for the spring show as I work on a tighter budget for this one than the others

I think we are one or two big name guests yet to be announced for the spring show, there's some great guests already anounced mind

God, what a year so far. His son has confirmed that Christopher Benjamin has passed way after a fall. He had turned 90 in December

I saw the news and I am heart broken many esteemed roles outside of Doctor who and two of the most beloved stories within it as Sir Keith Gold in “Inferno” and Henry Gordon Jago in “the talons of Weng Chiang” before continuing the role in audio for near a decade

Same, I'd only booked entry tickets last week. And was looking at hotels.

Hadnt even put in for a day off on the Friday.

Hopefully they retain all the spring guests for summer.

For me maintain Katy Manning, Dan Starkey and Derek Chaffer which will make me happy

Okay so i'm about to start listing the Summer guests, both of them, but i want to get two things of my chest about it.

first i'm using it as a distraction, given a couple days of some rough and downright annoying news, plus terrible work days, so just using this blog as a distraction is something i do.

secondly their is already people on Facebook complaining about the cancellation, feeling they're cheated robbed, wondering why theyre not going ahead when other events are, and my honest thoughts are people in LA have lost their lives, their homes and god knows what else to a devastating fire which has ripped through the area, including a good number of celebs and stars who would attend these events, so maybe for once Showmasters is taking the moral high ground and postponing so the guests they've booked even if they don't live in america can show some solidarity

Colin Baker made his first appearance in Doctor who as Commander Maxil in "Arc of Infinity" where to take to the role of the Doctor from Peter Davison he preceded to shoot the incumbent, in a ploy that proceeded to work he later took up the role of the sixth doctor in the final few minutes of the critically acclaimed "The Caves of Androzani" before beginning his tenure proper in the critically lauded "The Twin Dilemma", he proceeded to play the role of the Doctor over the next two years before he was unceremoniously fired at the conclusion of "The Trial of a Timelord", however he continued to be of connection to Doctor who appearing in "More than 30 years in the Tardis" and "Dimensions in Time" for the 30th anniversary of the series in 1993, as himself he presented "Cybermen: The Early Years" and "The Colin Baker Years" on VHS, in 1992 he provided the linking narration for the Audio release of "The Macra Terror" which was then re-released onto CD in the early 2000's and then included in the DVD/Blu Ray release of the same story in 2018, before he famously returned in the role in 2022's "The Power of the Doctor".

his involvement also includes appearances on numerous documentaries such as "Bred for War" on "The Sontaron experiment" where he famously made comments about a Radio DJ, and "Celebrations" for "The Five doctors" (25th Anniversary Edition), along with being a frequent contributor to Big Finish since 1999.

He is also present on Some Confidential Episodes for the new series talking about series 1 and 4.

  • "Arc of Infinity"
  • "The Five Doctors" (25th Anniversary Edition)

Colin is Attending both Days of the Event, and is £25 for his autograph or a photo.

i guess with the delay in time i have more time to save money so whilst my plan was of course "The Mysterious Planet" i may also try and get him on my Series 4 booklet to build up that set more, its increasing in collector value.

BRIAN BLESSED (Yes still in capitals) appeared in Doctor who on a sole occasion being that of King Yacarnos in "The Trial of a Timelord" during its 5-8 episodes opposite Colin Bakers doctor, however on an interesting note the actor was considered up and down for countless roles throughout the series even once being pegged to appear as his Z-Cars character PC Fancy Smith in "The Daleks Masterplan".

of course for BLESSED we have two choices of set.

  • "MindWarp"
  • The Collection Season 23

BrianBlessedWeb.png

BLESSED is attending on the saturday of the event and is £50 for his autograph, £35 for a photo and £90 for a diamond pass, however as is often discussed a Diamond Pass is needed for just how genuine he is and he gives everyone the time instead of being a conveyor belt.

Daniel Weyman's one and only contribution to doctor who is in audio format specifically opposite Peter Davison and his second TARDIS Crew in "The Butcher of Brisbane" a prequel to the iconic "The Talons of Weng Chiang" Where he played Ragnar Crezzen.

large.jpg

Weyman is attending on the saturday, and is £25 for his autograph or photo, but be warned the CD tends to be somewhat pricey.

Appearing in (at the time of writing) in the most recent episode "Joy to the world" as Edmund Hillary the (Disputed) first person to reach the top of Everest, Phil Baxter joined the long legacy of the series.

PhilBaxterWeb.png

Baxter is due to attend on the sunday and will be £15 for his autograph or Photo.

however by this point i doubt that the Series 15 set boxset will be out so we have a dilemma for the casual fan, not you @Mfahey79, do we all invest in a copy of the Standalone Christmas special or just get a print signed, especially as the chances are he will be a one and done.

Whilst best known to Sci-Fi fans as Deana Troi in Star Trek, Marina Sirtis has a Doctor who related credit appearing in "The Year of Martha Jones" as Karen, however don't let that cover fool you, Karen is only a minor character in the first story "The Last Diner", something she herself has claimed was a tad dishonest.

MarinaSirtisWeb.png

Sirtis is attending on both Days and is £30 for her Autograph or Photo, and for Star Trek fans she is available for A duo Photo with Gates McFadden for £85.

I already have her on the CD Set with Gethin Anthony.
