The colourisation work they have done the the upcoming War Games release looks brilliant. But why do they have to make it a 90min version for a 'modern' audience

I saw and I REFUSE to watch the trailer because as with “the Daleks” in colour I consider it a pure bastardisation of the material, “the Daleks” being knocked down to 70 minutes cut out 2 hours of content and with “the War Games” being dropped to 90 minutes that’s 2 and a half hours being removed, and I don’t care what people say it’s a story that works with its length, we get an hour and a half of mystery as to what’s going on, followed by 2 hours and 15 minutes of them trying to fight back against a seemingly impossible issue and then the final episode is dedicated to heart break as the 3 regulars go.

i even saw one of the “promotional” points is that we finally get to see 2 regenerate into 3… so basically the BBC wishes to cut out 30 years of books and audios that expand upon the idea that the 2nd Doctor has a life beyond “the war games” something which the TV show itself admitted was canonical? They’re joking surely

Apparently it is found footage of the regeneration and have remastered it. This is another bone of contention, why not release that as it is as a birthday easter egg, or in a future release as is.

I might watch this part out of curiosity, but I wont be watching the 90 minute cut of this or buying the subsequent release.

Now I get why they are doing this, as if it brings in more money for the restoration team, or more recognition for their work, and we get more missing episodes re-animated then I get it. But it's not for me

Found footage my hole, the filming dates of the “regeneration” meant Pertwee hadn’t been cast, and doing it in studio on videotape would have been too time consuming and of course would have been included in the episode as audiences at the time would have known that Jon Pertwee was cast in the role.

episodes 1, 4 & 5 of “the war games” have their cliffhangers expertly built around the idea that these characters are leaving and maybe they’ll be leaving in a box, I’ll get the steelbook but that’s it I’m not touching the DVD I haven’t the space for a new line of release let alone a line of rubbish

Hmm, it's all in the wording but if you look closer the press release reads 'never before seen regeneration into the 3rd doctor, alongside recovered footage not seen since original broadcast'

Based on that we can assume that its going to be a cgi regeneration then, along side some trimmed clips that have been added or as ester eggs

I don’t personally think off the top of my head theirs anything from “the war games” that was filmed id consider legendary or iconic enough to want to see, such as the lost scene from “the ark in space” of Noah begging to be killed, or even the original ending of “the shining”.

if the film trims they’ve found are included as a bonus feature I may be more inclined to get the release to watch that only.

Well good news for my “Remembrance of the Daleks” work as John Leeson got announced so now I can land him on that to bring the numbers in line.

And Brian Miller, as we speculated on getting him and his daughter to do a show together, so it is a good sign that he is still willing to do events

I've done a send in to get him on my Remembrance dvd as once again I'm working on their weekends, they also have Daniel Peacock Which gets me one step closer to replicating my first Greatest show dvd but with out personalisations. Just need to get Mike Tucker and Dean Hollinsgworth and I'll have them all on the new one, with the added advantage of having Stephen Wyatt and Janet Hargreaves to boot

I’m working on getting the names I have on my special edition onto the original because the original has the late Pamela Salem but then again my special edition of Remembrance has Tracey Eddon and I’m guessing she’s a one and done, bloody hope not I have three items she needs going on ASAP

One of the factors in getting the new cover, was it had the late Janet Hargreaves on. I cant remember seeing Dean Hollingsworth at any events since I got him first time mind, but we can only hope.

Mike Carter is a semi regular at the Bedford Charity event, so fingers crossed he appears next year

I'm sure they'll get Tracey back even if it is at a Film Fair, as she'll be popular for Star Wars as well

Same, I'll be working that day, and whilst I have an hour after work to get over to MK, and whilst its easily do-able, I'll have to pass

Given shes done 4 events with Showmasters now, i'm hoping she'll be booked for another LFCC she is extremely popular with attendees and clearly there is one hell of a demand.

LFCC Spring 2025

Okay so here on are the guests for the Spring event in 2025 and i'll do my best to keep it as thorough as i can.

Colin Baker made his first appearance in Doctor who as Commander Maxil in "Arc of Infinity" where to take to the role of the Doctor from Peter Davison he preceded to shoot the incumbent, in a ploy that proceeded to work he later took up the role of the sixth doctor in the final few minutes of the critically acclaimed "The Caves of Androzani" before beginning his tenure proper in the critically lauded "The Twin Dilemma", he proceeded to play the role of the Doctor over the next two years before he was unceremoniously fired at the conclusion of "The Trial of a Timelord", however he continued to be of connection to Doctor who appearing in "More than 30 years in the Tardis" and "Dimensions in Time" for the 30th anniversary of the series in 1993, as himself he presented "Cybermen: The Early Years" and "The Colin Baker Years" on VHS, in 1992 he provided the linking narration for the Audio release of "The Macra Terror" which was then re-released onto CD in the early 2000's and then included in the DVD/Blu Ray release of the same story in 2018, before he famously returned in the role in 2022's "The Power of the Doctor".

his involvement also includes appearances on numerous documentaries such as "Bred for War" on "The Sontaron experiment" where he famously made comments about a Radio DJ, and "Celebrations" for "The Five doctors" (25th Anniversary Edition), along with being a frequent contributor to Big Finish since 1999.

Whilst best known to Sci-Fi fans as Deana Troi in Star Trek, Marina Sirtis has a Doctor who related credit appearing in "The Year of Martha Jones" as Karen, however don't let that cover fool you, Karen is only a minor character in the first story "The Last Diner", something she herself has claimed was a tad dishonest.

Sirtis is attending on both Days and is £30 for her photo or Autograph.

Since i forgot to add actually what i'm going to get who on, as I've said in the past Sirtis i already have the sole item she's on, so i have nothing to worry about on that front thankfully, but for Colin Baker i'm going to get "The Mysterious Planet" unless something comes up before then that requires his urgent attention first, but thats mainly so i can get him with Michael Jayston on something, and really unless i managed the entire main cast of "Arc of Infinity" that is a back burner for now, as for Stuart Milligan i am obviously going for my Series 6, that set only has three names being Mark Sheppard, Michael sheen and Christina Chong, so names for small roles but all of whom have had some massive careers since Doctor who with Sheppard... doing well everything but i'd say Supernatural is the big one for him, Good Omens for Sheen and Chong went onto do Star Trek, i do have an audio that he can sign already... but i wasn't a all too big fan of the audio.

I have Marina on a Star Trek/Family Guy crossover poster, which she she wrote 'COYS' as an inscription. or Come on You Spurs. As I was wearing a Spurs Polo shirt that day, one of the advantages she said about moving back to England was she could see them play live
