Diamond Guest + VQ tickets

Recommended Posts

Hi all, please bare with me as I've been able to come to this event for 2 or 3 years and am not sure what may or may not have changed etc.

I bought a gold pass a while back. I gather gold holders still have to pick up a VQ ticket for Diamond guests?

Does that mean there's no advantage (over having a regular ticket) with the Diamonds guests? Do the VQ tickets get called later in the day or just at a slower rate from the start (eg 1-200 diamond and 1-50 VQ).

I'm likely there for at least two full days but may preorder some guests (such as David Duchovny) if I don't think I'll get to meet them. This will help give me an idea.

Cheers, Charmer

But as Diamonds are only guaranteed with a Diamond pass there's no way to know if they will call VQ's or how many will get through, as we don't know how slow or quick most of them are.  David's done a few events so I can't see that he would be slow but unless someone can say they know his speed it's down to chance I'm afraid.  However remember that there's few Diamonds who don't do VQ's

You are correct in a way

Because you need a VQ ticket you will have to wait until the guests line is opened up to VQ tickets and your VQ number is in the batch on the board

And going from last couple of years the gold entrance is further away from guests than standard entrance

As has been said many many times before

The only way to guarantee an autograph is to pay for a diamond pass

I wasn't aware there were some that don't do VQs. Do you know which ones? Is there a link? Or is that just something we'd have to wait until the day for?

It all depends but in this forum it is generally set to £25 for an auto, but that can change if the guests get long queues.. but those on and under that sum most likely will be VQ free.

I thiiiiink Raylenth was saying that it's very rare for a Diamond Pass guest not to get to at least some VQ tickets. Some could could potentially get through hundreds, others just a handful. All of them will be on the VQ system for sure.

We won't know until the day, as it depends on how quickly the guest sees all diamond passes

I kinda have a feeling that someone like Matt Smith will not reach the VQ ticket holders this year, as he is there only for a day and they are selling batch 11 for pictures already

He's done events so may be a quick signer, there's always a chance

The ”big” single day ones will be the ones to really aim for a low VT: Smith, Eccleston and perhaps Aidan Turner. I expect a VT Grand Prix on Sunday for those chaps.

Seen a Diamond guest in past, who has done events before and still incredibly slow.

Really depends on the guest, there are certain diamonds who are diamonds for the very reason the are very slow, RDA, David Bradley and Christopher Lloyd, so by having them Diamond at least those people know they will get them, otherwise people complain that even with a very low VQ they never got through.  I always say to people that if they want those, get the diamond as they aren't going to see them on VQ's (or they won't see many if they do reach them) but the majority, even day ones, do get through a decent number of VQ's.  It's why it's always so hard to judge because there are many variable we just don't know.

David Bradleys queue was a nightmare last year. I was lucky enough to be one of the first because I had a gold pass but I heard they handed out over 600+ tickets and he only got to 100 or something like that. And I still had to wait for more than 45 minutes because there were a lot of dealers in front of me with 70+ items to get signed.

I think that's why he's always a diamond guest now, they do the same with RDA and Lloyd whenever they come, because they are very slow at least the Diamonds know they will get it.  I always tell anyone saying they want RDA/Lloyd to buy the Diamond as you aren't getting to see them for an auto without it, I would say the same about Bradley now as well.  At least that way people know most VQ's won't be seen and shouldn't be unprepared.

So, in relation to this topic...as I would like to try and get extra autos for some of my friends, would it be possible to include a couple of these with my Tom Welling Diamond Pass auto at the same time? That way it would mean possibly just getting 3 on Friday with a VQ ticket (possibly trying morning or later in the afternoon when it might be quieter) and 3 on Saturday (including mine). Would that be reasonable?

You can buy 5 at a time Liv, that includes the one in your pass, so when you go through on your Diamond you get your 1 and can pay for 4 others.
