LadyDeTemps Posted July 30, 2017 Share Posted July 30, 2017 Well Saturday I was just a general entry ticket. Got to venue at 9.30 and was in by 10.04. Was quite surprised if was waved through with no bag checks. I found the autograph area quite chaotic and hot and stuffy. My suggestion would be to spread out a little more and clearly mark walkways/where to queue as it was hard to tell where queues ended and it was just people standing chatting. HeartDT Posted July 30, 2017 Share Posted July 30, 2017 I do agree the bag checking was poor. we didnt get checked any day...even today when we arrived at 10am as our first shoot wasnt until 12.20 and we have all autos we want already..and no kne was queuing etc so no reason not to bag check us and we were told just to go straight through. on sat the guy did go to bag check us but just at that someone came up and told him to start checkig 2 in every 10 bags so wavex us in again. The map was posted online. It's unlikely something like this would be in a programme because too many things can change on short notice, even throughout the weekend. It's a worry that a stall that is selling weapons is inside a building that's carrying out bag checks for such things. Mite be an idea to note that one down when in meetings for next year. The stalls have their own security meassures. And honestly, if someone is planning an attack he very likely won't spend 200 quid on a replica knife. There's been one in Germany just this weekend and a kitchen knife was used. We've said it before, security is totally handled by the venue. The crew manning the doors is doing what they can. Body checks may be done if someone is deemed suspicious. But checking everyone upon entry... an event in the US tried that and that didn't go so well. Then had to spend 2.5 hrs trying to find a red t-shirt person, as no one wanted to help. Only to find the said person was in unmarked event clothes. Thus leaving my young daughter to fend for her self in the chaos of line control of photo queues... Why was will Wheaton photo op so early after opening and for such a short time. Not happy as also had no areas with chairs to sit on, loads of spare chairs in main stage, but told to move. My husband and myself had been wearing special help and carer bands. Also being told not to touch will Wheaton on photo shoots, what's that about, it puts me off going to other events. Only went as 16 yr old had her heart set on it. Apologies you had such a bad experience and also your daughter. in regards to no touching some guests do have that not all are tactile but above that he is known germaphobe so def no touching. he was great on my solo shoot still being friendly and warm w/out having to shake hands etc and he is happy to do non touchy poses such as wacky thumbs up he did in mine and a few others :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I personally didnt use mine as i put my photos into a protector as do not want them damaged. seen people sitting theres down and leaving them and a few people picking them up to use them.. but yes today in our PM shoots we didnt get them. ianb Posted July 30, 2017 Share Posted July 30, 2017 We arrived at around 8.15 and went straight to collect our diamond passes which took about 15 minutes. It was so much better to collect the passes before going into the hall. I was worried that I would not be allowed into the hall with my plutonium case but I had put paper over the signs saying plutonium or radioactive and whilst in the queue for Thomas Wilson the crew member said it was a very sensible idea. I had my items checked and was allowed in no problem. I did notice that security had dogs with them and that was highly reassuring to see as I believe they would be trained to detect explosives which after Manchester was a major concern. Yes, I noticed that too, the lack of security checks for those us in the Extra Help queue. Which to me is fair enough absolutely.. we are paying for a photo and so long as a kind acknowledgement is made eg a hi as you walk up et then I am happy.
