I met him last year, he is one of the most amazing guests ever, so friendly and down-to-earth. I was a bit disappointed by the autograph photos (mostly Hannibal, I haven't seen it yet..) and I regretted not having brought a Bluray cover of one of his Susanne Bier movies or The Hunt, I should have as I wanted something very specific. So thanks a lot Showmasters, I can meet Mads Mikkelsen again and get a great autograph :-). Now, I have to decide between a Bluray, the book Catalyst and a Pop. Decisions, decisions.

I am also thinking about upgrading the Valene Kane photo op on Saturday to the one with Mads Mikkelsen. The Ersos

That nearly 10 years ago he was £15 an auto (when UK audiences had really only known him for Bond).

That given how much great work he has done since Casino Royale, and how he is now part of two huge franchises (Star Wars/Marvel) and how many more fans he has, that I thought his higher prices last year and this year and more than justified. That of course he should be charging more given how popular/busy he is these days.

That whatever his price was/is people should go and meet him because he is fantastic with his fans and no-one will come away thinking it wasn't money well spent.

That he was the first guest I had ever met. That whilst I was only one of 10 people to get a photo with him (as can be seen on Showmasters photo archive) it is great people now flock to meet him.

There have been what, two people in this thread who said that at £60 it was maybe a bit high for them personally. Nothing nasty or unpleasant towards Showmasters or the guest, just a personal statement people make all the time on here. Yet my comment gets wiped?

Seriously, I see nothing wrong with what I have said. Sticking up for Showmasters. Being complimentary towards the guest. Who is there to get upset about the above?

The ridiculously heavy handed moderation on this forum is really tedious sometimes.

Dent, I can't do more than e-mail you. I made a point out of that after someone complained about a post that has supposedly disappeared which has neither been deleted nor hidden - I see the logs and there is no trace of that post whatsoever.

Anyway, the problematic posts of your e-mail are gone in the repost., so this text would not have been an issue.

Still, once again I am seriously wondering why I bother to contact people. No one reads their messages anyway and rather comes on the forum ranting.

Us mods sometimes have to judge and this "but the other posts are still there" argument comes up often. Which is exactly why I am taking the time to explain. Sometimes it's hard to see why you are moderated and the other user is not. For obvious reasons cause I can't leave the problematic parts on here it is done by e-mail.

If you want to see "heavy handed moderation" I will be happy to discuss with the other mods and SM if we can adapt the practice some other event forums have: just delete things without explanation and the second someone complains again their account is banned.

Thanks for taking the time to reply rather than just deleting, not that I'm saying you would automatically do the latter, but I have seen it happen on here before.

Are you saying you have sent me an email? (I've checked which email account I registered with and have not had anything come through).

I think the only other thing I recall saying originally was that no-one seemed interested in meeting Mads back at Collectormania '08. Sadly it was true as the photos show. I said to him at the time I really thought he was one of the best Bond villains and he said to me, pointing away from his table "I wish you would tell everyone else" because no-one was coming up to him. Everyone was going nuts for Bruce Campbell as I recall, and to a lesser extent, Brent Spiner. I felt it was such a shame as most guests could learn a thing or two from how Mads treats his fans.

Beyond that I also remember in my original post saying that he was down-to-earth and sincere. That I wouldn't be meeting him only because I have already had the pleasure. Just to be clear I am not being defensive Sindel, I am just genuinely struggling to see what the issue was. And I say that as someone who has had stuff deleted before and never outright questioned it.

I appreciate moderation could be far 'worse'/strict, and I'm not trying to be unsympathetic to the judicious choices that have to be made, but it has been noted before that moderation can be a bit heavy on here. For the sake of balance I was amazed that last year's Famke Janssen 10 page criticism fest was allowed to stand - moderation was certainly far more laid back on that one!

Yes, I have sent an e-mail to the Hotmail address you registered with. Is that one current? Cause out of the last 15 e-mails I tried to write 9 bounced, so I had no way to contact anyone. I will try resending from my backup address once you confirm. I thought as it did not bounce it must have got through.

If this is okay with you I would rather reply to you by e-mail for the reasons I stated?

The Famke thread was left standing back then as long as we could - and if memory serves me correct the mods had even posted that a couple of times - after we got it confirmed by the office that it was okay. It was a very obvious issue, closing it down completely would have been ridiculous. But still it wasn't totally ignored. I just had a look and compared the actual thread length along with the thread length users see: it is three pages more. So tons of hidden posts there, and edited ones too. I learned some very interesting English swear words in that thread.

I'm sorry if my reply sounded harsh. But I have just been discussing with someone by e-mail last week - he totally did not understand what the issue was (slagging off a guest in a matter that was in no way dubious). He ended up accusing me of pretty much every thing in the book, including me not understanding his "humour" cause I wasn't a UK native. Then he complained to the office making up some very interesting things.

When stuff like that happens after you spent 2 hours of your time during a very busy week in the run up of an event you can get a bit... testy.

Hi all. My first post here, although this will be my fourth LFCC in a row. Regarding the Mads photoshoot. I bought my ticket on the Friday. I have since sent the additional info requested to amend the ticket via email and was sent a link to the ticket. Problem is, it isn't showing on my EventBrite app so will it be okay to show the link with the ticket ready for printing on my phone in the day? As I have no access to a printer?

I am not sure if I understand you correct, so I apologize if this is the wrong answer. Only showing the link won't work. If you can save the document the link goes to somehow and show that, this will work. Basically the crew needs the QR code in the ticket for scanning.

I've checked in Settings Overview and the email address there is current. It's not my main one but I've checked my inbox and junk and deffo no email from you Sindel. You can reply either via email or on here... it may be of use to others reading, and myself(!) for future reference?

I would have been fascinated to see the missing 3 pages on Famke's thread. I agree, given the issues present that had to be a fair outlet for people. Still, I was surprised 10 (edited) pages survived, never seen anything quire like it on here.

Some people cannot accept any criticism, constructive or otherwise, UK native or not!

Yes I can download the ticket from pressing the "Print Ticket" link and that displays the ticket on my phone as a PDF so will I be okay to show that instead of physically printing the ticket? It's just strange as it hasn't been added to the EventBrite App as a purchased ticket where all my other tickets are.

Dent maybe email Queen, her address is in her signature.  If you let her know when you have sent it so she knows it been done then it should some through and she will have a valid email to reply to?

I'm trying my backup when I get to the other computer, but that may be tomorrow. I'm on my mobile right now and that provider hates my Android.

There's a one in a million chance that the exact same thing is happening again, that's why I want to discuss this by e-mail. I actually did choose the e-mail cause I didn't want to make a big deal out of this too - go figure.

I'm kind of used to people paying the "foreigner" card on me. Though most of them go straight past the "no native speaker" thing and play the Nazi card straight away.

ive checked on here but can't see anything - can you tell me if there is going to be a pre order for Mads...

 

As an aside - was at a friends wedding who got married in the chapel in Oxford where he does the ritual on Dr Strange - found out the following day when I watched the movie - totally geeked out!

I am not totally sure if  Mads is added, they may be waiting for image approval. But in any case you can use the contact form there.

He was only announced on Friday night Jon so they probably just haven't had time to put him on the pre order site yet.  Sometimes guests can be delayed going up if the pictures haven't been approved yet,just keep checking.

I come here because I'm a little worried about my ticket for Mad's photoshoot, they updated the informations after the bug with the batch number but now that I want to print the ticket there are no information at all on it, is it only mine or do you have the same issue?

I don't think this issue has been reported yet.

The ticket info is there when you open the e-ticket, yes? That sounds like a Printer issue to me.

I would have thought Brexit might get a mention: "Even our forums are being run by Germans". I've never thought of whining when my posts get deleted. Mostly because there are very obvious and very good reasons why it happens. I actually quite like it.

While I'm here, as I got 2 autos and 2 photos with Mads last year, can SM please introduce a new "Hug Ticket", where he just holds me in a tight embrace for a few seconds?

No the informations don't appear at all when I save the e-ticket, there are just black lineaments.

If you are trying to save in Passport or whatever that app is called, some attendees have indeed reported Problems with that.

No I save it in PDF and didn't have any problem with the other tickets, that's why I don't undertsand :s

Sounds like it might be an EventBrite problem - you might need to contact them.

I was away on holiday in America when Mads was announced (same with Benedict)!

 

Thankfully I was able to get a shoot with both. So excited! I missed Mads last year so happy that I'll be able to meet him this year.

In the box on your ticket does it look like there is super teeny writing. Like even if you magnified it times a billion you couldn't see it? Because that's what I have. Mine have been amended and my photo ticket doesn't show the batch number and my diamond ticket doesn't show the day. However the nice lady in the shop said it was an Eventbrite Gremlin, not to worry about the pass as they have a spreadsheet with all the days on and that the crew would be told that any ticket with teeny writing in that box is batch 1. Does that help?
