Matt99
Just wondering how people handle their valuable photographs and autographs, presumably some sort of folder on the day? Then how do you keep them in the long term? Some way of showing them off without them fading?
Samlomax
I carry a folder round to put the pictures in, all separate and not until the ink has dried though.
Ravogd
It isn't the end of the World if something does happen to them over time as you can (for almost every other Showmasters event anyway) download digital copies from a website later. Sadly this is not free and you usually need to pay a slight fee (I think around £5 per picture). Not sure if this will be available for this event though but every picture I've had taken since my first con in 2008 is still available for download today should I wish. Editeded to add a link to the download site http://showmasters.photoshelter.com Edited October 3, 2016 by Ravogd

Did they lose the data or something?
Jamesmd85
I bought this portfolio to store my photos. Can anyone confirm how long after the photo is signed would it be dry enough to store? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0000WMYZM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475510940&sr=8-1π=SY200_QL40&keywords=9x12+portfolio&dpPl=1&dpID=51Ig3JHP21L&ref=plSrch

It is possible that there are issues that they can't reveal preventing the photos to be provided.
gwynatlarche
I've got an expandable folder that has 20 different sections for my photos/pictures.i am taking a4 envelopes to put each in b4 they go in the folder. For long term display id suggest going to a framing studio and they will give you the best advice.

CosmicAvatar
Just bog-standard 8 x 10 autos plus the photoshoots for me - I take hard plastic autograph holders to the event to get my items home safely, after which I transfer them to acid-free pockets. The photos then go in standard albums and the autos in suspended box folders, all of which I get from Arrowfile.

Silver is the slowest to dry and the surface it's on can affect it as well. The regular pictures from the event and posters however don't take very long at all to dry. I've put mine straight in the rigid plastic folder and tilted it slightly so the auto is facing in and not touching the plastic and it's dry pretty quickly, just be a bit careful with posters before you roll them up again. With regard to your folder, as your auto's will be going in sleeves I'd just give them a couple of minutes, however I wouldn't use it for long term storage as it doesn't say anything about being acid free (at least that I can see as the page isn't loading properly) which it needs to be. What XIII posted is almost exactly what I have used for years and in my opinion is far better than a folder for carrying around at the convention - easier and quicker to get your auto's in and as long as you carry it for a second so that the auto isn't touching the cover is better regarding the drying issue than a folder. Matt99
Thanks, lots of good info there. I will go to Ryman's after work. Another question on a similar subject. Any experience or tips on getting photoshoot photos signed?
Jamesmd85
Thanks for the response Raylenth. I'll probably be over cautious when it comes to drying times lol I just double checked my folder and it's pockets are acid free and PH neutral apparently. Raylenth
Another question on a similar subject. Any experience or tips on getting photoshoot photos signed? How do you mean Matt? You get your photo from the shoot and give it to the guest to sign when you are in their auto queue. It's no different from any other auto. Don't forget that you may have to move out of the auto queue immediately once you have your items signed in order to keep the area from becoming clogged and to keep the queue moving, so it's best to just take your items, move out of the queue and find somewhere you can stop and put them away. I find that by then they are dry anyway to be honest.

I've never had one signed myself but know of those who do and have seen them done and it's not an issue. It's a normal picture, like the 8x10's. Four Lights
Hard A4 plastic wallet with a stud opening will do for me I think. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Connect-A4-Polypropylene-Document-Folder/dp/B001GY03RO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475675622&sr=8-1&keywords=a4+plastic+wallet If the photos shoot and autograph pics are only 8 x 10 (which is what I've read on here says) it should be big enough. Plus you can can keep all your printed off tickets in it at the same time.
